Samsung phones are all I have ever had but I'm very disappointed in my Galaxy Z Flip 3. At first I loved it, however I have not had this phone for a full year and the screen is cracked across the phone at the fold. I call the provider where i purchased the phone and was told to contact Samsung so I called Samsung because it is still under warranty. Samsung then directs me to go to a store that is over an hour from where I live so they can look at it and fix. I contact that ubreakifix location and was told it could take anywhere from 4 to 48 hours to repair. I was looking forward to having the flip and expected this was tested enough that this problem would not occur. I would expect a company like Samsung to stand by their product and mail out replacement so I could me mail back my current phone. Before purchasing a Fold or Flip i would make sure you have a store near by that is authorized to work on Samsung devices. This experience has questioned if i would purchase another Samsung devices.

I've had the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G for almost two years. The phone is great and even though it's thinner and taller than the average candy bar shaped cellphone it only took a couple days for me to get used to it. Being able to close it and slip it into a pocket or turn it upside down and hide all of the cameras is great. I love the mini screen on the outside where I can control my music and audio books or check the time and weather. Covers are a bit of a hassle since they're either stylish or protective with no inbetween. The factory installed screen cover, which is super important and should not be removed by the user, goes kaput in 9 months. I know several others who had the same issue exactly 9 months later, too. It's the most expensive screen cover change I've ever had, $70 and a week later from my carrier. There is no Samsung Center in my location but I know a person who sent their phone in and got it back 2 weeks later with no specialty screen cover. I had the new screen cover for 2 months before it started to peel again. The camera is really good to a shocking amount. It picked up two stars around the moon that I couldn't see at all, and night photos are so bright. I love taking pictures in portrait mode. It also hooks up really fast to my SmartTV for screen sharing and it picks up 5G in my rural area when others can't even while on the same carrier. The battery is awful, and I had to deep dive and make a million little changes to make the battery last all day with minimal use, unlike my last phone which lasted 2 days with heavy use. The phone is worth it if it can be picked up on sale, but definitely not worth full price.

Sure, I could do it, but I almost dropped the phone a few times attempting to. I'm not sure what could be done to make it easier to open with one hand, but my use may differ from others. Other than these issues the Z Flip 4 is an absolute delight to use, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of nostalgia with a modern twist.

Dead Pixels

I really wanted to like this phone but Samsung left a lot to be desired. Before getting into the cons I think it's worth mentioning this can be a good phone. It's UI and Android skin are reasonably good. I use the front screen much more than I expected, but I still wish it could do more. Software-wise the phone performs well under moderate use and has a buttery interface. On the flip side, Samsung severally limits external system monitoring. I work as a battery scientist and like to monitor phone battery usage via AccuBattery, but Samsung's software actively limits pretty much all third-party software monitoring. AccuBattery is still usable to some extent but there's a very cumbersome process required to get it working.More concerning is the fact after a month of ... MoreI really wanted to like this phone but Samsung left a lot to be desired. A couple days ago I noticed a cluster of dead pixels on the crease of the phone. The cluster doesn't seem to be getting bigger but it's concerning regardless. Thankfully the phone has a one-year manufacturing warranty, so I'll be getting a new one soon.

Excellent Day To Day Phone

I am a fan of the Samsung environment in the past and have been looking for a phone with a small form. The Galaxy Z flip was perfect for this. Once folded it is no larger than my wallet. Furthermore, the features are enough that I can do everything that I want to do. The camera is also nothing special, but it does take excellent pictures. I also really enjoy finding new ways to utilize the fold feature. For example it is really nice to use the 90 degree feature to watch videos while eating. The front screen preview is very nice for taking pictures with. Furthermore, I like how videos will continue to play even when it is folded closed and along with Samsung/Omny Pay. For anything longer than 8 hours you will have to intermittently charge to make it through the day. As a researcher who listens to music and podcasts I need watch the battery life and charge to at least 50% every 5/6 hours. Overall though it is a simple phone with an interesting gimmick that makes it small enough to fit in any pocket which but at the cost of a significantly smaller battery.

I've had the Bora Purple Flip for 6 weeks. I love that it's small/compact and fits easily in my pocket, my purse, my hand, everywhere. When opened you get a beautiful 6.7" AMOLED screen, that you can see even in sunlight. I've had no issues w/performance, it's fast and a pleasure to use. Call quality is good, Galaxy buds work well, Android Auto works well w/Flip. It also works seamlessly w/my Galaxy Watch 4/Galaxy Tab 6. I'm not on my phone all the time but use it throughout the day and battery lasts me all day. I charge it in the morning before work. The outer camera is noticeably better than the inner one, but both are VERY good. The foldable factor makes me use the phone less since I can just check messages, emails, and alerts on the cover screen to see if I even need to open the phone to respond. I'm giving it 4 stars (more like 4.5 stars) because I think there's room for improvement. Isn't there always? There wasn't much difference between the Flip 3 and 4. I think cameras should be better, cover screen should be a bit larger for more functionality, add Samsung Dex, improve flex mode-which isn't necessarily a Samsung issue. But I love my Flip 4, it's a very enjoyable, functional, well-designed phone that's fun to use! I would highly recommend it.

On top of it all the ability to use the phone folded at 90 degrees with dual apps running, taking videos and pictures has never been easier and pairing the phone with my new Samsung 5 watch just enhances the ability and functionality of this amazing phone. Finally it doesn't hurt that its a head turning phone and people are always stopping me to look at it and amazed by the screen and how you cant tell where it folds up. In short i couldn't be happier.

Solid device due to the form factor and innovation. While not as top of the line as other flagships on the market, I still consider this very premium for the average user. That being said, if the top specs, camera, and battery life are your main priority then I will say to look elsewhere.

This review is regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G. I've been out of the loop about phones for awhile now. My trusty Note 4 had finally reached the end of its lifespan that replacing batteries could no longer fix (partial bootloop and my carrier shutting down 3G which would make it unable to do voice calls) and it was high time for a new phone anyhow. I was planning on replacing it before this all happened and was just figuring I'd get the newest Note they had available at the time, but my friend had the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and I was absolutely blown away by the design. The Z Flip 3 had literally just came out and while it wasn't as "top of the line" as the rest of the flagships available, it was still quite the upgrade from my old Note, so none of what it lacked was a dealbreaker for me. I'm very happy with my purchase thus far. The design, quality of the screen, great speakers, camera, and the intricate file system make this a valuable replacement for my dusty old notebook that I used for writing miscellaneous notes. It definitely isn't the phone for everyone if the top specs, camera, and battery life are your primary concern, but it's still a solid device that I'd buy all over again in a heartbeat.I'd say this is a perfect phone for an average user who misses having a flip phone and wants to experience something new. Edit: Just realized I didn't address the crease which is most people's concern about these things. Honestly, being that I wrote this review on said phone and forgot all about it should tell you what you need to know.Unless you're in direct sunlight or actively looking for it, you truly don't notice it looking at the phone straight on.Kind of like how you don't notice your nose unless you take a moment to look is my comparison on the matter. Some can live with that, some can't.For me it's not really a matter worth mentioning since it's so easily ignored.

Want a flip phone? Get the RAZR

It's a phone. I owned the razr flip right before this and it excels in almost every way. The only positive thing I actually have to say about the galaxy flip is its hinge, which can position itself for easy viewing of videos...I had the razr flip for about 8 months, thinking this would be an upgrade IT WAS NOT. The razr flip had less screen crease, the front screen was fully functional, it was BEAUTIFUL. I NEVER use the front screen on my galaxy flip, it's beyond useless besides telling me the battery life while charging. Besides the hinged ability of this phone, it has no advantages over any other phone.I must add, even after ruining my razr in water, the front screen was so good I kept using it for THREE months before I even considered getting a new phone. Worst phone ever! Do NOT buy!
21 January 2023

Worst phone ever! Me and my husband both got the Z flip phone on the same day, and his had a cracked along the fold 4 days after buying it. He had NOT dropped it or anything. Had to fight with At&t and Samsung warranty for a month because neither wanted to cover it. We sent the phone in for repairs and were charged almost $300. My husband lost ALL of his info, photos that were back up etc because the screen didn't work at all before we sent it in, and they sent a factory reset phone back. Finally we called At&t enough times to threaten to cancel all of our plans and somehow we had to "upgrade" into an even MORE expensive phone just to get out of dealing with the Z flip anymore. It has now been a year since I've had MY flip phone and I've already had to do an ... MoreWorst phone ever! It has now been a year since I've had MY flip phone and I've already had to do an insurance claim 6 months from when I bought it due to a crease on the fold (paid $175). And now another 6 months has passed and a crease is forming on the fold again... At&t required me to pay $85 to payoff half of the flip phone, I had to pay $50 the taxes on the new phone I am upgrading to. And still have to pay a $35 activation fee for the new phone on my next bill. At this point I am willing to pay ANYTHING just to NEVER have to deal with the Z flip phone again. This was a complete nightmare... and all I'm hoping for now is that the crease on the flip phone doesn't completely disable my phone before my new phone arrives. Otherwise will have a hell of a time trying to transfer all my data and reset all my passwords to the new phone...
