The T7 is perfectly fine. However, I purchased two T7 2 TB SSDs (MU-PC2T0T/AM) in July, based on the promo running on Samsung's website for 2 months of Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan. I registered as required, and awaited promo codes that never appeared. Samsung support cannot assist, and they transfer me to other chat channels three or four times until I end up on a blank screen. There is no way to create a support ticket or other record of the issue with them for tracking or follow-up. The support pages suggests you can email them, but this does not appear to be true. Most options loop you back in a circle to the support main page, which is barely functional. I didn't expect much, but this beat my already low expectations.

I purchased this from a retailer for the immediate necessity and the Samsung brand [wouldve bought directly from Samsung Shop but I needed it quickly]. I absolutely love this portable Touch SSD! I have 5 other portable drives and this by far is the fastest and flexible storage device EVER!! The added touch fingerprint affords confidence in the security of my work documents. The fact the SSD is credit card size and lightweight shocks my friends and family; and gives me a chuckle each time I show it off. Everyone is amazed and states "NO WAY". Ty for creating a wonderful, portable lightweight, and affordable product!

But after I closed and reopened the application, all I was able to do was change the name of the drive. I chose not to use security because I had seen some reviews warning about the problems with fingerprint and password recognition. The app is completely useless. It will only allow me to change the name or enable security. I don't see any ability to view file folders or storage at all. After reading countless reviews I've found some that say it doesn't work with a z-fold 4, or the Mac m1, or a lot of Android devices, which leaves me to wonder what the hell it does work with.Extremely pathetic and disappointing for Samsung. First of all it's entirely unfriendly for the user. I suppose it's supposed to be intuitive, but it's as intuitive as a rock. It does nothing.I'm scratching my head because I just keep feeling like there must be something else, it simply does.... nothing.I've tried restarting the phones, I've tried both of the applications, I've tried without the applications, I've tried on different devices. There doesn't seem to be a way for this to properly work at all. This attempt to be more like Apple, which honestly if I wanted I would buy a freaking apple, is entirely infuriating.Include instructions, included user interface, don't require an app, or make an app that works. Seems like a really easy thing to create a hard drive... We've had them for a while now... And yet Samsung, which has been my preference for years, has fallen flat on their faces on this ridiculously endeavor.I'm not going to screw around, I see so many reviews in the frustration of futility dealing with Samsung's customer service.I don't have any idea how this could have possibly received such a high rating.Shame on you Samsung. Go back to doing what made you Samsung, instead of Riding on apples wake.

Easy to setup & login, fast speeds, multi-platform
31 March 2024

Great portable drive, sufficient data transfer speeds and reasonable price. I own other portable drives, so when I decided I wanted more storage space, I had kept my eye on the "Touch" model because I like the ability to access the drive contents using my finferprints. I chose this over the Shield model that was also in consideration , I didn't have an absolute need for direct media storage. The ease of use with biometric login saving me time and hassle typing a password made it an easy choice.I had issues connecting it with my Android devices until recently, (Software update?) But works flawlessly now.Setup was quick and painless, the reader works well and I recommend this to anyone looking for a portable SSD.

The 2-star rating applies to using this SSD with a MacBook Air (M2) and with Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and S8+ tablet. With windows laptop, the SSD works flawlessly. I ignore this, but it freaks me out every time. The second thing is that the Phone/Table send a persistent notification to restart the Phone/Tablet, which I eventually do just to get rid of the notification. I'm pretty sure the issue relates to having 'security' enabled and the structure of the drive having an un-protected volume and protected volume and the un-protected volume being 'ejected' when you log into the protected volume. I'm also sure this could be fixed (definitely by disabling security - but what is the point of an unprotected SSD??) or formatting the drive to only have one volume - but that's way beyond my technical capability. I just expect the SSD to work. Incidentally, I don't have any of these problems with Sandisk SSDs.Its funny that's the manufacturers Samsung devices seems to have the most issue with, is other Samsung devices...! Would I buy a Samsung SSD again? no way (unless it was to be used exclusively with a windows laptop)

My Tesla MY Met its Match
9 February 2024

I bought the Samsung SSD T7 for my Tesla Model Y to record and save all the dashcam videos and with the 2TB i dont think i ever run out of juice from this SSD. The reliability of this SSD is unparalleled. I've been using it for several months now, putting it through all smooth and bumpy rides, and it hasn't skipped a beat. I have also complete peace of mind knowing that my data is safe and secure with this SSD. The compact design of the SSD is incredibly convenient and fits in a corner of the glove box.Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase of the Samsung SSD T7 USB 3.2. It has exceeded all of my expectations. Highly recommended!

Nice, small and simple fast SSD for a RPi
16 June 2024

I bought one of these to use as the boot/root file-system harddisk on a Raspberry Pi 4+ (RPi) running linux to get better performance than using a sd-card or USB thumb drive. It's been working just great since received and while a RPi isn't extremely fast the disk improves boot time and the database speed for the e-mail spam filtering software on the RPi making it easier to use and monitor. System update performance is also better. The 2D footprint of the disk is almost the same as the RPi and the disk doesn't need additional external power, just a USB cable. So the two combine well without needing a massive brick external USB disk that needs it's own power supply connected to the RPi. The whole RPi and SSD T7 disk assembly is easily portable as a result.

No moving parts!
26 October 2023

SSD is fast and much more reliable than old-fashioned disc hard drives. I switched to SSD a while back after dropping a good-quality standard portable disc drive and finding it no longer worked. This is my 4th Samsung portable T7 SSD. I use each one for different backup purposes and am very happy with the devices. I have two standard 1TB T7s, which are a little smaller than the T7 Shield, but I like the Shield because when I travel, I need to minimize my footprint. I will leave my protective case at home, put the rubberized T7 Shield in my briefcase or camera bag, and feel comfortable that it will survive the trip. So far, all 4 of my T7 devices have worked flawlessly and given me the comfort of having hardy, difficult-to-destroy backup devices.

I bought this without knowing too much about it. I wish I would have picked up many more. This drive is the diamond, diamond star and still light-years ahead of the competition. Either I'm just buying bottom of the barrel with the competition, or this drive is really that great. After asking others how they feel, no. This drive is really that good. The speed alone is well worth the regular price which isn't really above the competition. This drive is rugged. Mine has dents all over it, scratched up. Had a fun trip through the washing machine, works as if Nothing happened to it. I wouldn't recommend anyone doing what I've done by accident to electronics. Just knowing that this drive had at least one succeed in living with that much things happening to it should tell ... MoreI bought this without knowing too much about it. Wonderful and secure drive with great portability.
2 March 2024

I bought this drive over a year ago and it has been performing wonderfully. The security system with the finger touch is amazing and is very beneficial. But the data that I have been story. The drive does not get too hot but does get a slightly warm. It is very nice and portable. As a precaution, I keep it in a secured case that is slim to carry. Backing up my phone onto. This drive is simple and fast.I wish samsung would include some type of an application to figure the health condition of the drive. None of the samsung memory cards or drive have failed, but would be a nice touch to make sure that over so many years they would perform great. This way, we can backup our data. Even further in case is needed.
