Simply get closer The first Samyang macro lens! The Samyang 100mm f/2.8 ED UMC Macro Lens is suitable for much more than macro photography. The fast fixed focal length with a reproduction scale of 1:1 is manually focused and is suitable for MFT and APS-C as well as full-frame sensors. This fixed focal length impresses with its speed of 1:2.8, produces vivid colors and a buttery soft bokeh The close-up limit of just 30 cm means that the smallest objects can be depicted very large. At the same time, the Samyang 100mm F2.8 ED UMC Macro scores as a classic portrait lens. The internally focusing Lens consists of 15 elements in 12 groups. Chromatic aberrations are reduced to a minimum by a High Refractive (HR) and an ED element. The multi-coating prevents unsightly flares and ghosting artifacts and ensures crisp contrasts. The 9 aperture blades form an almost circular aperture, which results in a fantastic bokeh.

I needed a macro lens to start a project on make-up artistry and naturally went for this one as I already own the 8mm fisheye from this brand. These are very unexpensives for the quality and the results we are getting from it. Compared to my Fuji workhorses (16-55 f/2.8 and 50-140 f/2.8) you can feel the difference in weight and quality finition of course but don't get me wrong, as an occasional (and needed) lens, the Samyang 100mm Macro is one of the best investment you can do. Any online review will speak about quality of the plastics used, the soft and well dampened focus ring, the general quality of the lens and.... the incredible sharpness. The 2 pictures are with the lens mounted on the Fuji X-Pro2, tripod use and focusing distance of less than 40 cm from the model's face.

This lens is amazing, great value, sharp as hell. cannot complain abut anything. You need to be good at manual focus and ideally need to use a tripod to get crisp sharp images.

I had been looking for a "proper" macro lens for my Fuji set-up, coming from Nikon with 200mm Macro in the past. I have the 60mm Fuji Macro but find it difficult to use (auto-focus is slow and manual focus is a pain). I stumbled across this lens in a G+ post and bought one immediately. It really is a gem. You have to put up with non-coupled aperture but Fuji system works well with this. Really all you lose is the aperture recorded for the picture. But the lens is superb. Really solid construction. Lovely focus movement - quick and smooth. Most importantly it is super sharp. Highly Recommend this.

I got mine used, for half the listed price. For: super-sharp. Well-built. Excellent hood. Can focus VERY close. Image quality of a very high order, no complaints at all. Focussing on a Fuji using focus peaking is very reliable, but needs a high degree of precision which will come with practice. No idea how this performs on other cameras, so check first. May be possible to use a teleconverter with this, as rear element is deeply recessed, to increase working distances. Samyang is a S. Korean company with a proven track record, not a fly-by-night Chinese operation. Against: Large. Heavy. Designed for full-frame, not APS-C, which is why that is the case. No auto focus, metadata or image stabilisation. Mine cannot focus on infinity - Im quite certain this is particular ... MoreI got mine used, for half the listed price. For: super-sharp. Well-built. No auto focus, metadata or image stabilisation. Mine cannot focus on infinity - Im quite certain this is particular to my copy - but at normal distances up to around 50 metres it is excellent. Bought for close-up and macro work, so didnt return. Check yours, just in case this was a batch fault. All manufacturers have them.
I bought this lens after seeing some very good reviews about it, in being honest i wish i had waited. It is not a bad lens, i will start with that. It is very heavy, and seems to be very well made, however i probably didn't realise how weighty it would be on my tripod, or camera body. I use a Fujifilm XS10, and this lens didn't suit it at all. Only a manual focus, though macro work i always focus manually anyway. However it really is too cumbersome, and no electronic contacts on either to relay information. I've no doubt a lens like this will suit some people, who don't mind the negatives. However i should have just waited a little bit longer.
I bought the camera for my Fujufilm X-T30. It's performance is absolutely stunning. It is a bit difficult to get used with the manual control of the focus (I really used it with my other lens) but with little practice everything comes on its place. The lens itself is quite heavy and most of the time you will need a tripod if you don't have direct light on the object. It was a bit tricky to make my camera work take photos. The hint was that I have to turn on a stetting for "take photo without lens". Still I don't get any RAW format images with this lens, but may be it is another setting I'm not aware of but as I'm doing this as a hobby I don't need it much.
Used at weddings for the wedding ring shots, on an X-H1 body, it produces sharp images when mounted on a tripod and IS turned off. I personally enjoy the manual operation and it's a considerable saving over Fuji XF 80mm if you can live without the OIS and autofocus.
