I needed a macro lens to start a project on make-up artistry and naturally went for this one as I already own the 8mm fisheye from this brand. These are very unexpensives for the quality and the results we are getting from it. Compared to my Fuji workhorses (16-55 f/2.8 and 50-140 f/2.8) you can feel the difference in weight and quality finition of course but don't get me wrong, as an occasional (and needed) lens, the Samyang 100mm Macro is one of the best investment you can do. Any online review will speak about quality of the plastics used, the soft and well dampened focus ring, the general quality of the lens and.... the incredible sharpness. The 2 pictures are with the lens mounted on the Fuji X-Pro2, tripod use and focusing distance of less than 40 cm from the model's face.

This lens is amazing, great value, sharp as hell. cannot complain abut anything. You need to be good at manual focus and ideally need to use a tripod to get crisp sharp images.

I had been looking for a "proper" macro lens for my Fuji set-up, coming from Nikon with 200mm Macro in the past. I have the 60mm Fuji Macro but find it difficult to use (auto-focus is slow and manual focus is a pain). I stumbled across this lens in a G+ post and bought one immediately. It really is a gem. You have to put up with non-coupled aperture but Fuji system works well with this. Really all you lose is the aperture recorded for the picture. But the lens is superb. Really solid construction. Lovely focus movement - quick and smooth. Most importantly it is super sharp. Highly Recommend this.

The lens feels solid snd firm at expense of weight. Smooth focusing and fine distinct aperture clicks. Precise focusing from closest to 1 meter than only small turn to infinity. Produces razor sharp images in short distances, but at distances > 1-2 m til infinity image becomes little soft. Obviously the front element and helicoid are optimised for macro. Probbably the best (optically) macro lens.
Used the lens to do macro photography of flowers and a few insects. Manual focus ring operates smoothly. Lens can be stopped down to f/32 or wide open to f/2.8. Lens is well balanced and not very heavy. I have also used the lens for a few portraits in natural light and at widest open setting, blurred the back ground sufficiently as it should. Good lens for the money.
IQ is fantastic. Images are sharp and crispy with plenty of contrast and color. Build quality is great. All mechanical parts have a good quality feel - focus ring is smooth and has the right amount of resistance and the aperture ring clicks nicely. With practice, manual focus is easy especially with peaking and focus magnification or other electronic aids. The only reason I don't give it 5/5 stars is because it's huge. It would definitely be more comfortable on a DSLR than the a6000 but it isn't too unwieldy. For me, the image quality and value makes up for the compromise of compactness. If a tripod collar was included it would be even better.
First of all this is a well built lens. It is sharp and produces excellent images. The downsides are the size and weight. It is too heavy in my opinion for my small Fujifilm X series cameras and much too large. It could use a tripod foot to balance the cameras. I think this was designed for a DSLR but modified for a mirrorless camera. The other issue is this manual focus macro is too sensitive to focus adjustments. Just the slightest movement affects focus too much. I therefore returned it and I will probably purchase the Fujinon XF 60mm macro.
Built quality is very good. Lens operates very well. Size, weight and balance on Fuji XT systems is great. And the best part : the lens is crazy sharp, renders colors on Fuji absolutely awesome and all is true even when handheld.
Used at weddings for the wedding ring shots, on an X-H1 body, it produces sharp images when mounted on a tripod and IS turned off. I personally enjoy the manual operation and it's a considerable saving over Fuji XF 80mm if you can live without the OIS and autofocus.
