I have read nothing but good reviews about this lens and I was especially intrigued by the astrophotography function. Bought this for an astrophotography trip to Utah and Arizona. Really liked the fact that it will automatically focus to infinity if you hold the focus hold button while turning the camera on. Also had the Sony 12 - 24mm F2.8 on the trip and I'd say the Samyang compares remarkably well.

I bought this lens for my new Sony A7iv and I love it. I upgraded from Sony a6000 and didn't have a full frame 24mm lens to use for astro photography. This lens is very sharp. I love the astro feature to set it instantly to infinity focus. Saves about 5-10 minutes of focusing workflow in the field. The autofocus is also fast and useful as a street photography lens or for landscapes.

As advertised. I use it mainly for astro. Makes focusing in the dard a joy. Had to adjust infinity a teeny bit. Took a couple of minutes. Now I set up, push the button while turning it on, and the Milky Way POPS! Two others in my group have bought it and they feel the same.Sharp, low coma. Cheap.
In my 30 years of night photography experience, I have never been more pleased with a lens for night shooting! Super sharp, light, f1.8, infinite focus button and seems more sharp than the Sony 24mm, which cost 3 times more than this prime. I'm a big fan of these Samyang tiny series lenses, in fact they're part of what convinced me to invest in the Sony full frame system. I started with the 18mm 2.8, then the 35mm 1.8 now this 24mm 1.8. Each new lens of theirs seems to be progressively better. The 18mm provides a fun field of view and decent sharpness, the 35mm added weather sealing and a faster aperture to the table, and now the 24mm adds close focusing which I missed in the 35mm.I take a lot of pictures of kids and pets around the house. 24mm lets me get a lot of shots around the table, while playing with the kids and so on that the 35mm requires me to back up a bit for. I love the infinity focus. I love the light weight. The stars are sharp, but there is a lot of coma on my Sony A7iv H-alpha modified. It is an art to get it gone in LR or CR and there are still artifacts.(I did not have coma like this on a straight up Sony A7iii. In fact it was sweet as candy. If you shoot a normal Sony I recommend it with no hesitation.)Still, when I reach into the bag for a 24mm, this or the Sony GM, I want to grab this one because the focus feature is just plain amazing and it is so light on my tracker and in my bag.
I have generally believed as a matter of principle that you get pretty. much what you pay for. But I really wanted a 24mm prime and money was tight. So I decided to give this lens a try. I also knew that if the lens did not meet my expectations, I could take advantage of B&H Photo's excellent return policies.After getting this lens I immediately went out and tested it for sharpness and centering. Two issues I was not confident would be up to my expectations. WOW! This lens is awesome! Sharp? Check! Centered? Check! Small and Light? Check! Quality exceeds expectations? Check, Check, Check! This lens is a definite keeper. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. If you are looking for a great 24mm prime for your Sony mirrorless camera, GET IT!
For the money you can't beat it. Plenty of features, very sharp, good flare control, and it's as small and light as many APS-C lenses. I keep hearing about copy variants with Samyang, this is my fourth Samyang/Rokinon and I have yet to experience any issues.
I'm new to astrophotography. I normally do surfing photography and since I'm close to the Space Coast in Florida, I wanted something good to start in astrophotography while saving some money. After a few reviews decided to get it here at B&H which had the best price. I have taken some perfect shot of the stars in night with moonlight which isn't the best to do this.Don't hesitate. If is budget and quality, this lens gets you more for less.
