I didn't heed the reviews that said it was slow as hell and barely functional. It is, takes literally minutes to even see previews of raw files in Lightroom to decide which ones to import. Love SandDisK SD cards, but this reader is absolute trash, do NOT waste your money.

I bought this to use to upload SD card data from my digital camera to a desktop PC. The connector on it was not compatible with the USB connector installed in the PC, so I could not use it. This fact was not obvious to me in the product description provided here. I returned this product. When shopping, be sure what you are buying is what you really need.

I was really excited to get this new, fast SD card reader for my new 2018 MacBook Pro. Unfortunately after multiple attempts, with multiple Sandisk SD cards, in every USB port, it never worked. I had similar results as another reviewer—the light would flash once when I put the card in, but would never read it. Sandisk states that it’s compatible with both uhs-I and uhs-II cards...but maybe not? I only tried uhs-I cards. Others seem to have had success with the product, so maybe I just received a defective one. I could have tried exchanging it out for another one, but decided to just return it and get Apple’s USB-C SD card reader instead, and it works great.

Hi, I have this reader and my only issue is that I have to eject the reader to change SD card. Isn't there a way to keep the reader attached to the laptop and just eject the sd card so that when I insert another SD card into the reader, the laptop sees the new SD Card? Thx.
It's USB 3.0 so not the fastest or newest standard (and definitely not Thunderbolt) but it's plenty fast when used with a UHS-II card. If you don't have UHS-II cards then you probably don't need this model.Connection point between the cable and the USB C end seems loose-ish, like you could spin the wire around. But I have 3 of these and performance hasn't been impacted. Inexpensive enough to keep one in every camera bag and/or one with with your iPad. Can confirm this works with iPad Pro 11.
I bought it to handle my memory cards coming out of my A7rIV. It handles transfers fast and without errors. So far a few months in and no issues and no complaints. It never leaves my desktop computer though, so I can't speak to it's travel durability.
I am using Sony 128gb SD cards. And a mackbook pro. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the photos to preview. Sometimes it's fail. It's ok for the price as a secondary as card reader.
When I insert the Sony Tough 128GB (SF-M128T) card on the reader it hangs, freezes and need to wait several minutes to even be able to eject the card. I'm using Windows 11 and the driver installed is from 2006!! Where can I get a more recent driver for this reader?
Only works correctly on scandisk UHS-II cards. Runs like junk on others brands. But the worst part, this reader runs at half speed on Scandisk own UHS-I cards that are rated 170mbps. Why would scandisk make a product that only works half way. Scandisk requires you to purchase second reader if you want to get the full benefit of its 170mbps cards even though this card is suppose to read up to 300mbps.
I bought this Card Reader to quickly upload large image photos to my social media through my phone. I was surprised how quickly it connects and reads all the photos, but disappointed slightly that it diminished the size of the photo. MB down to KB. I still love that I can upload a photo quickly or email it out quick, just wish it alloed it to retain full resolution
