For the life of me I do not understand why these are even being sold. Can someone at B&H please look at this device. It takes great patience to carefully work your SD card in the reader without damaging either. Then the joy of pulling the card out of the reader was impossible without using my teeth. I can't stress enough do not buy as you are either going to destroy your cards over time attempting to get them in and out or you will lose patience and destroy the reader.

Hard to put in memory card and hard to remove This card reader damaged one of my memory cards while putting it in the card reader. You will damage your memory cards putting the card in and pulling the card out of the reader. You almost need a pair of pliers.BH Photo, stop selling this piece of junk!

This is the most annoying card reader, every time I insert any card it gives me a bad feeling, I will destroy my sd card, this is the worst build reader, probably a fast one but scary to feel how you are probably destroying your cards, this is definitely not a nice feeling.

Inserting and removing expensive SD cards requires more force ought be necessary, so take care not to damage expensive memory cards by just ordinary use. Using USB 3 connection copying a 27 GB file using default exFat file system took 6:45 seconds; a reformat using NTFS and copy took 6:41 seconds, so no real advantage to using Windows native file system. If I had to do it all over again I'd carefully compare to others readers before buying this one. The reader is OK but isn't made to the same standards as SanDisk SD cards, in my opinion.
Very nice card reader with green light for SD cards on a laptop or desktop that works with Mac. Nice durable & soft long lasting design.
I have one of these in each camera bag, as I never know if I'll need to transfer files. These have sat for weeks sometimes, but when they're needed, they work. Very compact, always reliable.
If all you need is to read SD cards, which is all I need right now, this this is perfect! Reads at the full SD card speed, in my case 170MB/s, over my USB 3 ports.Add on that it's cheap and small, it's a perfect reader to leave in my bag.I actually have several now. One that's always with my laptop and two that are always at my desktop. This way I can dump lots of footage at once with multiple cards going at a time.
I purchased two iMacs, one for me and one for my wife. The contacts in the iMac to read a photo card were not aligned perfectly thus making it difficult to download a photo shoot. Finally, one download failed and erased both the card and the imported data due to a faulty contact between the iMac and the photo card. I called B&H, described the problem and suggested there must be an external card reader that would solve the problem inexpensively, quickly, and without surgery to the iMac. He identified the Reader, I bought it, and it works just fine. Thanks.
Normally I would not even need this device but I relocated recently and my old SD card reader (which has since been located) which could also read CF and SM (SmartMedia) went missing for an extended period after the move. I needed something quick to read my SD cards. I also have equipment that uses CF cards and I still had a CF card reader, but I was also missing my CF to SD card adapter, which was in the same box as the missing universal card reader. I also have a really old infrared-converted camera that takes SmartMedia cards, but that was a low priority.The only way I had to read SD cards was a laptop with a built-in SD slot and a USB slot to which I could use to transfer the info on my SD cards to a USB drive, then transfer my images to my main computer for ... I bought this SD card reader to get the laptop out of the loop altogether.The SD reader works well enough but it requires a sturdy fingernail to hook onto the notch/boss on the back of the card to remove the card after use and the reader also obstructs the USB slots on either side of the one the reader uses.
I look up the following link and find this card reader has outstanding performance. So I placed an order and looked forward to it. When I got the reader to test it, but found it was super difficult to insert the card. Very afraid to damage the card. What even worst is that I can hardly to remove the card from this reader. So I returned it. I really like this reader R/W performance, but not the mechanical design. Hopefully, you can lunch a new one reader to fix this issue soon.
