In the research process, I found nvm technology disks to be extremely high performance than SSDs. However, for my usage that would have been overkill because I have to now buy compatible cords that connect to the motherboard.

It has even allowed me to install and run Davinci Resolve, a video editing software suite with very demanding hardware requirements, albeit with some limitiations. (the relevant laptop specs are i7 processor; 16GB ram; Intel integrated graphics)Physically, the Sandisk SSD is very lightweight with an all plastic housing, which proved beneficial when I discovered that one drive mount in the laptop had apparently been broken in original assembly so that the drive was only anchored on one side. With the much lower mass of the Sandisk SSD, I believe that the remaining single mounting rail is adequate. In other reviews, I've seen comments that the Sandisk drives are not supplied with cloning software, and a cursory look at the Sandisk (WD) site seems to confirm this as only the Sandisk Dashboard software is listed under downloads. The Identical WD Blue SSD, however, does list the WD version of Acronis cloning software as a download and, once you install the Sandisk Dashboard and dig into the menu tree, you'll find "Other Software" which is a link to Acronis, so WD does provide cloning software, although it is not obvious. I prefer Macrium Reflect because it can clone the drive on which it is running, without having to boot to a rescue disc or USB drive, and it is also free.Only time will tell how the 500TB written that is specified for the SSD will translate to the life of the drive, but I expect that will not be the limiting factor for this laptop. In all, I am quite satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend the Sandisk SSD.

This is a drive only, no screws, no included software etc. This can be used in laptops or desktops (u may need a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter plate) if your desktop doesn't have the appropriate screw holes.

Fast and reliable

I used this for an old Mac laptop and replaced the original hard drive to this SSD. As expected the speed was 10x faster from boot time to loading applications. Even with a 10 year old processor i5 this SSD made the Mac faster than it was originally. I also use Samsung SSDs but this one has the same speed but cheaper. I also used Sandisk USB to load the Mac OS which is very reliable. I partition and format it many times loading Mac or Windows OS. So this is one of the brands I trust.

I'll admit that this was an impulse buy on Black Friday 2018 when the price dropped so precipitously, but I've never regretted it. Even though this is an internal drive I bought it for use as an external, specifically as a cache drive for all my Adobe products (especially Premiere and AfterEffects), on the grounds that it's both faster and larger than my boot SSD. That was in 2018, and today I've actually repurposed it for its intended use--an internal laptop SSD.In both usage scenarios this has wound up being a phenomenal SSD drive. It's lightning-fast, even over a USB SATA adapter, and it's held up just fine over three years of use. From having owned two of these bought at different times I feel comfortable recommending SanDisk (whose small SD cards I've used for years) as a company and these drives in particular.

My notebook PC runs like knew again.
14 May 2022

My notebook PC would not boot up after a Windows update, so I performed a series of tests that indicated that the hard drive was faulty. I took it to the Geek Squad since I have no way of testing the hard drive further than what I did. They determined that the HDD was faulty, so they installed a new SSD, reinstalled Windows 10 and gave me basically a brand new six year old computer. If it hadn't been for the boot up issue, I would have wasted my money on a new battery. I could only get about 20-30 minutes out of it before I had to turn on the surge protector where the charger is plugged in. Evidently the battery drain was due to the faulty HDD, because the batteries now last up to two hours before I have to turn the surge protector on.

Memory: Samsung 64 layer TLC V-NAND.SanDisk Controller: Marvell 88SS1074. Memory: SanDisk 3D TLC.With this said I am going to try the SanDisk on my new system which is running a Z390 Aurous Master Motherboard with a Intel i9-9900KS CPU, 128GB RAM (4 x32GB 3200 MHz) and a older RX 480 8GB GPU to try and keep things as equal as possible as the C606 system with its 3930k (running at a consistent 4.08 GHz) Hex Core 12 Thread and Quad Channel 64GB of RAM should be somewhat in the same neighborhood as the dual channel 8 Octa Core 16 thread i9 (Base 4.0 GHz).I just ordered a SanDisk 512 GB SSD of the same model type to see if it is something with this particular drive or if it is indeed a issue with controller compatibility, otherwise I have tested the SanDisk 2TB in a Asus G75 Laptop and it gained noticeable performance over the stock 1TB 7,200 RPM HDD. With that said it is always recommended to do at least some research before jumping on Sales or specials as compatibility may come to cause you more trouble than the price difference in certain situations.See you next timeMiloVipersHardware

Once I did that, I bought a SATA to USB cord, connected my new SSD to the computer through the USB port, then cloned (copied) the hard drive from inside my computer to the new SSD. (Free program called Macrium available online). Then I turned the computer off, opened it up and made the switch. (Find some videos online of people opening up your specific PC before you start, just so you have an idea of what everything looks like on the inside). It seems like it might be a complicated process, but it's not. I basically have a new for the cost of a new SSD and a stick of ram (less than 300 total). It's so snappy now!
