An endorphin that didn’t work for me

It was unfortunately not the shoe for me. I love the endorphin road line, my daily runners are speed and pro depending on the workout. These didn’t fit right out of the box. I felt rubbing on the outside of my foot without even running. Also the higher stack and thicker foam felt unstable just walking around. Which I am used to with road shoes and carbon plate, but I couldn’t imagine a rocky trail on an unstable shoe.I sent them back of course. I wouldn’t want anyone not to try them as they might be right for you, but just wasn’t the shoe for me

I bought these for a mixed trail/road race (8 miles trail, 5 miles road) because I figured the higher stack would be better on the road portion, even though it might compromise the trail portion a little. Most of the trail was hard pack that had just been rained on and it turned to mud. on the trail portion of the race, there was 1200ft of climbing over about 6 miles with 17 water crossings so these shoes got soaked through and drained water repeatedly. I was slightly worried about the review that said the shoes got horribly heavy after getting wet. I’m pleased to report that this was not the case. Another plus was that the rubber on the soles did not accumulate much mud and shed the mud super fast with each stream dunking. I looked at other people’s shoes and some people were legitimately wearing mud boots halfway through. The downhill trail portion was well cushioned due to the higher stack. I didn’t bomb the hill, but I found I could keep up a fairly brisk pace without losing traction. These shoes also functioned well on the road portion with enough cushion for the last miles of the race. Over all I was very happy with the product’s performance.

I love the endorphin line! I have several pairs of saucony shoes but I’d pass on these.I run in the speed 3-4 times a week in the speed those are a 7.5 which is a half size up from my normal size and they fit perfect so I figured I’d need the same size in the trail.I bought the trail for a Colorado trip and I wore them for several hikes and trail runs. I couldn’t get my heel to lock down. There was also way to much room in the shoes re- tie them - my foot was all over the place- painful! My feet were sore everyday! If these weren’t $200 I probably order a half size down and see how they work but I’ll probably order another trail shoe after this experience. The basalt color way is amazing!

Needs better QC
19 August 2023

I’ve been wearing Saucony shoes for years and I never had a problem with any of them until now. I return to Saucony because of the superb fit they’ve given my very wide, flat, supponated feet. The first pair of pink endorphins was labeled 6 1/2 . It fit like an 8.5 extra wide so I returned them for a different pair. The second pair was a little shorter but still too long and too wide. I’m very disappointed. It seems like the quality control on this shoe went out the window. I hope this is a one-time thing because I’d hate to look for another brand of shoes after all this time.

Not true to size: very wide fit
6 November 2022

Great shoe for running flats and up hill. The toe box is a lot roomier than how other Saucony shoes fit me. I usually like some room for protection and comfort but it feels like they overcompensated with this one. Maybe sizing down would of done the trick. 1. Even with tightening the laces my toes moved around a lot causing blisters. 2. Didn’t feel nimble or in control as the shoe picks up with carbon plate because the toe box is so wide. 3. Long downhill sections both technical and non technical were painful since I couldn’t get a good lock in with way to much slipping around.

Ok for shorter runs on even footing.

I am a big fan of the Endorphin line and have worn nothing but the speeds, pro's, and pro+ for the past two years. I love how light they are and I have run injury-free (>55 miles per week) for that time. I have been looking for a good trail shoe, and the reviews on the Edge were encouraging. Unfortunately, I just do not love this shoe for the type of trail running I do. I run a lot of swampy/wet/uneven muddy terrain. These shoes are fine on pavement and packed sand, but once they absorb any amount of water they become extremely heavy. Once wet, the sole feels much stiffer which becomes uncomfortable when running over uneven terrain since there is little to no give underfoot. I started to notice a pain under my foot and behind my knee after 6 or so miles of those conditions. I have worn on a few trail runs to see if they would soften, but I still feel the same after about 70 miles in these shoes. I will keep these for my shorter trail runs (<10 miles) on even, or packed-sand or rocky terrain (or hiking). For anything longer than 10 miles through ultra, I feel as if they are too heavy and not nimble enough for softer trail-terrain.

Treads Wear Out Quickly
10 September 2023

Love the fit of this shoe and how light weight they are. I feel lighter and faster wearing these. However…. the treads wear out very quickly. After about 100 miles (1 month) the treads are worn down. Yes, I do run on the rocky trails of Phoenix but at this price point ($200) these shoes should last much longer. I run about 4-5 miles per day, 5 days a week and I’m not a heavy or harsh runner (135lbs). None of my other trail runners wore down this quickly. Also the treads aren’t deep enough to provide good solid grip in loose gravel type terrain. Feet will slip and slide. But for hard packed terrain these are great and responsive.

Very upset
9 September 2023

I bought these a month ago, and I am sorely disappointed that I did! I loath these shoes! They felt too loose so I tightened them. Then, they hurt my feet. The ball of my foot hurt after one run. I enjoyed the road endorphin’s, so I thought maybe I would like these. NOOOO! There is a no use return policy, so I paid $200 for ONE awful run! I also called customer service to see if there were any options, maybe an exchange? Nope! Super bummed, and had no clue how much I would hate these shoes!

Worth it!

Love my new trail shoes! I haven't had my Endorphin Edge very long but already tested out steep uphills & steeper downhills, with leaf litter, with rocks & roots and these shoes are all that I wanted them to be. I've only done dry/slightly damp trails so far, not wet, but the lugs and outsole are very similar to my old peregrines. (Peregrines had excellent grip but I found they weren't comfortable for longer runs.) Happy to see that the Edge has a good classic saucony width like the old models. I didn't have to wait for wide width to become available. There's enough room for toes to splay. Also like the toe box height. No black toes on the downhills. Yay! And no weird stress points or rubbing or blistering yet. What else? Oh, excellent lockdown. Thankfully, the outsole is not as squishy as the endorphin speed 2 (which I have for road running). Out on uneven trails, I prefer a more rigid feel of the ground which gives me more control. The outsole is not super squishy but it's also not hard. It's a comfortable medium with excellent energy return. I really enjoyed my runs. You gotta try it out for yourself. Everyone has different feet and needs, but I've always loved the classic saucony fit. These did not disappoint. One last thing, I got mucho love on the ocean/loam colorway from other folks on the trail :)

amazing comfort
24 May 2023

I am thoroughly impressed I must preface with I am not a trail runner I have always been a road runner. I had a hike coming up to Grand Canyon and needed grip and comfort and didn’t want ankle shoes or boots. These did not disappoint I hiked south rim to river to run in one day 17.3 miles , my legs were not tired, lightweight and not a single blister! They are amazing and I have had a few saucony runners in the past but I was very impressed. Nothing more to say other than the fact that sneakers are crazy expensive but they are so worth every penny! Do yourself a favor and don’t sleep on these!
