Bad Durability - Buy the 13s Until the 15s Release

This iteration of the Kinvara is by far the most different version. It wears differently in both good and bad ways. I wear the Kinvara 14 for all my runs - long, fast, recovery, etc - and it’s still an all around shoe in my opinion. It feels good on the foot, I didn’t have any weird pains. The outsole has no long lasting structure to it, the shoes upper rips in multiple places, and probably my least favorite thing is the shoe laces rip over time because instead of normal shoe holes, the Kinvara 14 has these thin loops that absolutely shred the laces. I also feel like the heel area is a bit too padded so my sock would slip on the material unless I really tied the shoe tight but that would cause upper foot pain, so you have to find the right balance. I don’t mind the way they look although I do miss the minimal, sleek look of previous models. Overall they’re a decent shoe, 3 stars cause they’re above average but barely a 3 over 2 stars. Hopefully durability is fixed in the next model. I’ll be buying 13s until the 15s come out, 14s aren’t worth the money.

We really thought my child would continue wearing Saucony as their brand (I buy Jazz and am very happy with them; at least Saucony is faithful to the legendary '80s fit and look). We ordered another brand that offered an all-black sports shoe for school. It fits well, but I would prefer Saucony for my child. However, I don’t think we will be trying the Kinvara 15.Bring the 13 back, please!

Overall the shoes are quite good. I use them for my uptempo runs from 6-10 miles. They are responsive, and have enough cushion. They do not feel like they are bottoming out which I experienced on the Kinvara 13s.One negative is how narrow these shoes are. I experienced numb feet on my first few runs no matter how loose I tied the laces. I eventually had to replace the insoles with a pair from some old running shoes. The peba foam insoles are very comfortable and add some extra pop, however they make the midfoot far to cramped and had to be taken out for me.Overall they are a great pair of shoes, but they are too narrow with the original insoles.

I Miss My 13s
30 March 2024

Probably too late to influence anybody or anything, but...a disappointing shoe after wearing the 12 and 13. I've got about 100 miles on these, with 2 half marathons in them. The 12 got me hooked on Saucony, but the 14 may have me looking elsewhere. Like many others have said, these are not wide. If I wanted narrow shoes I would have bought narrow shoes. But I don't. I want wides. After about 6 miles, they get a bit uncomfortable. My solution is to lace them super loosely, which makes me afraid they are going to fly off my feet. I've also had to go out and buy the thinnest socks I could find, just so I could wear these shoes. The tongue slide is amazing. After about 5 steps, the entire tongue will be submerged into the outside of the shoe. Despite the slide, I have to say that it doesn't bother me when I'm running, and if I didn't look down, I wouldn't even notice it. On the positive side, the breathable and lighter upper is a big improvement. I don't really like the lacing system. It's very difficult to get them tied just right. I also don't mind the thicker stack, but all the groundfeel is gone, which is disappointing. They are still pretty responsive, though, and more of a true half marathon shoe. Having said all this, I did set a PR in the 1/2 using these shoes. I'll try the 15s for sure, and hopefully they'll be better than these.

Lightweight neutral trainer with good cushioning
22 July 2024

I love Kinvara's. The move to the taller stack height has me still adjusting after owning over 20 pairs since the K2's. I wish the K14's had to tongue pull tab like on the K13's. Overall, this shoe is still my favorite daily trainer and casual shoe. They are lightweight and offer good cushioning. They are flexible enough for a neutral shoe and have many different colorways. Also, these seem to wear pretty well for a lightweight shoe. If the K14's had a tongue tab and were not as tall, they would be a 5 star for me. For reference, I am a 250lb guy that has over 25 half marathons completed.

Long-time Kinvara fan disappointed by model 14
30 May 2024

I've loved Kinvara shoes for their minimalist approach, solid feeling of connection to the ground, feeling nimble and light. I have been buying pairs for years, stocking up so that I've got a fresh pair whenever an old set bites the dust, since they're such a great fit and approach. With this newest model 14, I am so disappointed. The over-cushioned feeling of the bottom gets in the way of agility, and the way the bottom has been built leaves a feeling of instability. I've tried breaking a new set in with low-mileage runs, and after trying am left with shin splints, ankle strain (not normal for me), and unsatisfying runs. I'll be heading online to grab any unsold pairs of the Kinvara 13. My 2nd favorite shoe, after Endorphin Speed 3
16 February 2024

Outstanding shoes! They are minimalist enough to allow for my gait to be self-correcting, yet cushioned enough to offer ample protection. These are mid to up-tempo shoes. So far I have only used them on the treadmill but will take them to the asphalt very soon. I would place them a little below the Endorphin Shift 3 in the lineup, and in a very successful competition against Brooks Hyperion Tempo. The Kinvara 14 is more forgiving to my feet than the Hyperion Tempo, and my recovery is faster after running in the Kinvaras. The Kinvara 14 is also surprisingly stable considering how snug and narrow they are. The outsole is on the stiff-side, but mellows out a bit after a 20 mile or so break-in period. Please do not replace the insoles of these Kinvaras, as the original Saucony insoles are part of the cushion and support stack, and I think it is the name of the game when you go minimalist. All-in-all, highly recommended if this is the type of a shoe that you seek. If you are used to highly cushioned, high-stack shoes, these Kinvaras will be somewhat the opposite of that. These Kinvara 14's are the primary shoes in my gym/treadmill rotation lineup.

Pretty but uncomfortable

Kinvara used to be the best shoe I used for training. This iteration has changed way too much about the shoe’s design. I’ve worn the Kinvaras since they were introduced. One aspect that I loved about the shoe was the fact that it had a naturally wider toe box. The toe box is more narrow than previous versions creating numbness and pain in my feet after running in them for less than 3 miles. I am usually able to run 8-10 miles in Kinvaras in one go, but not this time around. There is also no connection with the road. I like to feel the road beneath my feet. Too much cushion, narrow toe box, and has made me look outside Saucony for a comparable 4mm drop shoe. It hurts me to say this but I’m disappointed. The lightest of light travel shoes

I bought these for my long-distance walks, currently the Via Francigena pilgrimage route between Canterbury and Rome. Aside from the hiking boots I wear while walking, I always carry a pair of backup shoes to wear in the evening, walking through small towns and going to restaurants. It’s important that they be as light as possible since I have to carry them in my backpack. To that end, the Kinvara 14 shoes are the lightest I have found. My size 12 shoes weigh in at very light 223 grams each. They fit well but there is a slight pressure on my bunions. A larger toe box would have been welcome. I have the black sole/black upper version because I wanted shoes that would be presentable in an urban setting or a good restaurant at night. However, there is a shiny glistening quality to the plasticky uppers that is a little off-putting. Perhaps this is less apparent in other colours. All of these are minor criticisms; I am so happy to have such light shoes in my backpack!

Tried and true. Limited life

Rate 4.5 out of 5. I've stuck with this brand/model for a couple of years now, as my everyday trainer. I'm on my second pair of the 14 series, and with every new pair I'm reminded why I love them. Very lightweight, breathable uppers suitable for warmer weather. It's an excellent mix of between a responsive, grounded sole that offers some cushion and comfort. My only complaint would be the mileage factor. There's a considerable drop off in sole comfort at around 400 miles. I've easily stretched other shoes to close to 600 miles. These feel completely flat at around 400 miles, and it's been consistent with every pair (8) I've owned.
