bought the saw, used it for about 10 boards and didn't touch it for a month or two due to travel plans. then I turn it on..... the blade comes to a screeching halt and then won't do anything. the problem is the thermal overload switch. they sent me a replacement but this particular item is the only thing there isn't a video for with instructions on how to replace it. setting aside the fact that the thermal switch stopped working when it was 20 degrees outside. shouldn't have this problem with a brand new saw at this price point.

I have been in the market for a good cabinet saw since before Thanksgiving of last year, but with the pandemic it has made it difficult to find good saws. I had found one, but it was on backorder (and still is to this day) so I took a look at this offering. My first thought was just a nice saw with a very high price tag due to the safety feature so heavily touted. Well, I pulled the trigger and bought it and the mobile base for it (a definite plus). Grizzly had it in my hands in very short order as always (please understand that my shop is over 85% Grizzly equipment and it's fantastic, so this made me a bit leary). Anyway, it arrived in perfect condition, the driver rolled it right into my shop for me! Assembly was unreal, the best manual I have ever seen. Anyway, it arrived in perfect condition, the driver rolled it right into my shop for me! Assembly was unreal, the best manual I have ever seen. All hardware was in a blister pack plackard and separated by step. Assembly was quick and easy, although I suggest help as it is heavy! The big suprise came when checking everything for correct alignment only to find that everything (and I mean everything) was within .008 of being dead on and I was using a machinists guage! Now for the next part, while I have only had this for two weeks, I have used it many times each day, every day for that period and have cut everything from 1/4 inch plywood to my usual 1,2 and 3 inch wood which consists of Ash, Cherry, Maple, Walnut, Oak, Hickory as my primary woods. Yes, about half of the wood is the 2 and three inch thickness variety. It cuts thru all of them without any hesitation. Just like a hot knife thru butter. And quiet, this thing is very quiet! The dust collection is fantastic, the fence is very accurate with no deflection and glides with just one finger! I did have to make some very narrow cuts the other day, so the primary guard had to come off (about 30 seconds to swap out with the riving knife). I have to explain this a bit; I suffered a massive stroke and the wife does not want me using any saw without the guard. Well, explaining the safety feature (which I hope to never use) she stood over me and the saw like a hawk with phone in hand to call for help if something went south....the cuts were quick, accurate and most importantly, safe! (I did buy an extra brake cartridge to have on hand just in case I set one off) Anyway cuts done, riving knife off and main guard back on and still cutting whatever I throw at it! By the way, the safety feature was not my main reason for purchase, but now has given me great peace of mind as my wife is learning to use this saw and uses it daily. Now that and the safety feature, at least to me, is priceless and well worth the cost! But please remember you are buying way more than the much touted safety feature; you are getting a true world class saw in fit, finish and performance! Price -- No regrets what so ever!

I wish that I could leave a review of 4.8. This is a great saw! The number of things that can be adjusted for greater accuracy are what you expect of a saw in this price range. I love almost everything about it.I was surprised, though, to be a little underwhelmed by a few things. The extension table is not impressive. The mechanism to secure the legs in position doesn't really do the job adequately. Another thing that aggravates me is the way the controls box mounts to the saw. There are a couple of cap screws that are difficult to install and really don't seem to hold the controls solidly in place for very long. The miter gauge is really basic. Not sure what I was expecting, but this is not really much of an upgrade from the one that came with my old Craftsman ... MoreI wish that I could leave a review of 4.8. This is a great saw! I probably would have omitted those items from the order and spent a little more money on better ones, if that was an option. Maybe I missed something when I ordered...?All that said, the saw itself is fantastic!

Buyer Beware Saw Stop Shenanigans.
5 August 2021

I spent a year working extra jobs to save up to purchase this saw. This saw had all the features I wanted in a good safe reliable saw for my shop. The safety part, just being an added perk. This saw, notably is priced well above the competition and you would expect the customer service to be on par with the additional cost. When I purchased the saw I never thought I would need the customer service. After a month and half delay, the saw delivered. The bill of laden, which was written in code, did not accurately show an additional box. Long story short, there is a "Know Issue" with the front rail, rear rail, and main tube shipping in an additional box. I did not get the box, I didn't even know I was missing the box unit I was about 3-4 hours into putting the saw ... MoreI spent a year working extra jobs to save up to purchase this saw. When I purchased the saw I never thought I would need the customer service. After a month and half delay, the saw delivered. The bill of laden, which was written in code, did not accurately show an additional box. Long story short, there is a "Know Issue" with the front rail, rear rail, and main tube shipping in an additional box. I did not get the box, I didn't even know I was missing the box unit I was about 3-4 hours into putting the saw together. I immediately called saw stop, that is how I learned it was a known issue. The lady said she needed a copy of the bill of laden and they would start the process of tracking my mission box. Later it was learned, They will not do anything until the retailer you purchased the saw from calls and request them to look for it. It has been three weeks, and as of yesterday, saw stop finally started looking for the missing box. IN the mean time, I had to purchase this again and it don't look like saw stop is going to help me in any fashion, If you purchase this saw, make sure there is an additional box with the front rails, rear rails and main tube, the bill of laden written in code will not help you, they do not put this box with the main saw components on the pallet, and if it is not noted, or refused shipment due to missing parts, they will never help you, they will however let you buy another one, from the retailer. I called saw stop wishing 5 hours of delivery, 2 weeks later, they still have not offered a reasonable solution,.******Buyer Beware, the 36" table saw, main tube, front and rear rails box is roughly 5' long and about 6"X9", make sure you get your box, or you will be like me spending more hard earned money for something you already paid for once. I wish I had purchased the Laguna F3.. saved some money and we know Laguna takes care of their customers after the sale. # stars, due to the lack of concern or help from saw stop, saw is awesome, I am sure of that, but what is the additional cost, if you can't even get help after the sale?

If you take the flesh-sensing technology out of the equation, you are left with an extraordinarily well designed and well built saw.Sawstop put a lot of energy into the user experience of receiving and assembling this saw. The hardware is color coded and individually blister packed and the manual is spiral bound, and contains many pictures and simple, easy-to-follow instructions. The setup was a breeze.Right out of the gate, the tolerances are impressive. Any saw will require some degree of fine-tuning after assembly, but those adjustments have been minimal. The only noteworthy downsides are that I had a little difficultly in implementing the Industrial-series components with the Professional Series saw (But these were eventually solved) and the safety system ... MoreIf you take the flesh-sensing technology out of the equation, you are left with an extraordinarily well designed and well built saw.Sawstop put a lot of energy into the user experience of receiving and assembling this saw. Any saw will require some degree of fine-tuning after assembly, but those adjustments have been minimal. The only noteworthy downsides are that I had a little difficultly in implementing the Industrial-series components with the Professional Series saw (But these were eventually solved) and the safety system means that one has to be more careful and deliberate about evaluating the work-piece for any characteristics that can trip the brake. I inadvertently tripped the brake on day #2 - which destroyed the brand new blade that came with the saw and the cartridge.Live and learn. With the aforementioned component issues (I had trouble getting the collapsible outfeed table to work well with the Industrial Series mobile base on the Professional series saw) - Sawstop's Customer Service was excellent, kind and patient.Using the saw is an enjoyable experience on every cut.The 3HP motor provides plenty of power for ripping or crosscutting thick stock. The dust collection is beyond excellent (I added the Floating dust collection assembly, but have run the saw without it, and either way the dust collection is highly effective and efficient.)I really cannot say enough good things. The fit and finish rival that of Powermatic, but at a much lower price point, and of course if I ever DO make a mistake and put a finger into the running blade, it is comforting to know that the damage will be minimal.

Excellent quality and machining

Bought the 3hp pcs saw 36”. I have owned it for maybe 6 months now and can finally comment on it. It is a great saw. The table and extension wings are dead flat. Dust collection is good. The riving knife and blade guard are easily swapped out which makes a person like myself more likely to use them. They have small storage rack for those two items on the saw. The fence is excellent. It stays true, slides easily and easily comes off the saw if needed. The industrial mobile base is awesome. 4 swivel casters on that base. It easily raises and lowers the saw and makes it simple to move on an uneven floor. Sawstop tech support is also easy to work with. I bought the industrial mobile base first and then immediately ordered the saw after. The mobile base arrived first which i planned for. The base ships from a Rockler warehouse and Rockler was able to give me status to its shipping/arrival time. The saw on the other hand comes direct from the manufacturer and Rockler was not able to provide that tracking information. Rockler customer service was friendly and helpful when i asked about delivery of the saw and they offered to inquire about it from the manufacturer.Delivery process was straightforward. I was not onsite when it arrived but my wife was. The delivery driver rolled it into my shop with a pallet jack without any coercion needed.Overall a good buying experience with Rockler and Sawstop.

Great Saw! Get the mobile base!!!
28 December 2015

Bought this as a new addition to my shop and couldn't be happier with it. I did end up getting the mobile base after reading about how to install it. If you install the SawStop mobile base after assembling the saw, you will likely regret not buying it and installing it when you bought the saw. The blade that came with the saw has worked well and the saw took minimal setting up/aligning. The fence is very easy to align with the blade and SawStop claims 0.002" tolerance for parallelism between the blade and guide slots. I haven't seen anything to indicate this is not true. I did have to adjust the 0-degree position of the blade angle a good bit. Bolts that are used for common adjustments are painted yellow to make them easy to find, and they did a really good job making things accessible. I'm 6'2" and it's not always easy to get my hands into tight places but i haven't had any issue with the adjustments. If this is a first saw, you may want to order a 4" hose adapter for the dust port on the saw to make it connect to your shop-vac. You'll need a couple pieces for that. In my new shop area i had to get a few pieces to get my shop-vac connected but it wasn't difficult.

I had a 13 year old original Delta hybrid saw. There was nothing wrong with that saw and I had spent the time to calibrate it so it made very accurate and repeatable cuts. The only reason for me to replace that saw was to get the SawStop safety feature. In January 2019 I decided to go ahead and make the purchase.I figured if I was going to spend this much on a saw I should go ahead and get the 3hp motor as well as the ICS base. The saw came very well calibrated, the blade / table are parallel / square with less than 0.001" error as measured with a dial indicator and jigs.I really didn't expect the user experience to be any different than using the Delta saw but I am very pleasantly surprised.Everything about the SawStop is more substantial, smoother, heavier, ... MoreI had a 13 year old original Delta hybrid saw. The saw came very well calibrated, the blade / table are parallel / square with less than 0.001" error as measured with a dial indicator and jigs.I really didn't expect the user experience to be any different than using the Delta saw but I am very pleasantly surprised.Everything about the SawStop is more substantial, smoother, heavier, .... it's just a better machine.I also didn't know if I would notice the extra horse power but even cutting 1" hardwoods the extra power is quite noticeable.I don't think about the blade brake feature much at all, but the riving knife is always right there and having it really does give me greater confidence that kickback will not happen.I know all modern saws have the riving knife but this is my first experience with one and SawStop really got it right. It's heavy duty, does not interfere with any of the cuts or the Grrripper push pads, and it's very easy to put on / take off.The brake cartridge is also easy to swap out for the dado stack.I don't have anything negative to say about this machine. If you're on the fence about getting one of these I encourage you to go ahead and do it.

Sawstop safety feature, ER still required
20 December 2021

I bough my Sawstop from Rockler in 2017, everything has been great. I just want people to know that you can have a more serious injury than a small knick. The safety feature is the reason I bought the saw. We have all seen the videos of the safety feature working and nothing happens to the user. I tripped the saw mid December of 2021, required a trip to the ER and stitches. Thankfully missed the bone and tendon. Yes it did stop and it did save my finger, but it did still require a trip to the ER. I haven’t seen any reviews with any actual injuries, so I thought people should know that it can be more than a knick.

Working out great for a beginner

I wanted the first table saw I buy to also be the last, so I splurged on the 3HP 36” SawStop PCS. I’ve only used it for one project but I’m already happy with my choice. The unboxing and setup is surprisingly simple, coming with clear and easy to follow instructions. A few steps benefit from having a second pair of hands, but if you have some sawhorses and a bit of creativity you can also do a lot of it solo. The alignment of the blade to the miter slots was close from the start, but making adjustments is also pretty simple.I don’t want to treat the SawStop safety feature like some kind of magical protection, so I did lots of studying on how to make various cuts safely before I started. Any other first-timers should do the same, and remember to purchase or make ... MoreI wanted the first table saw I buy to also be the last, so I splurged on the 3HP 36” SawStop PCS. Any other first-timers should do the same, and remember to purchase or make push blocks or sticks that you will be comfortable using (I’m using a Grrr-iper). The push stick that comes with the saw really isn’t enough on its own.I would definitely recommend this saw to a first-timer who can afford it (and who has the space). Why do your learning on a “starter” saw that isn’t going to be as reliable?
