Good product with some minor quibbles.

A bit fiddly to put together but end result is stable and strong work bench with some storage. The drawer base looks a little flimsy but adequate for a small bench and the top panel needed a little shaving to fit without forcing. The last step in the plans is inserting the drawer which is also fiddly but minor quibbles with the outcome. Overall very happy.

Great hobby table

I got this for my badge making equipment. It's not heavy duty stuff but it needs a solid and stable surface as I have to press down on the machine. This workbench is perfectly good for my purposes, and has been a pleasure to use compared to the less stable craft table I was using before. The assembly instructions were pretty vague, but a little common sense allowed me to put it together just fine.I got a strip light for under the top shelf which adds a nice touch.

Greater than the sum of it’s parts.

Very clever design and it went together in about 30 minutes. I’ve cut the rear verticals down to install a larger, thicker top over the supplied one to take a big 3D printer. This also deletes the peg board, which I don’t need. Cheaper than I could build. It is surprisingly rigid when assembled, even before I added wafer screws to the slotted joints. You probably wouldn’t want to put a bench vise on here as the bench has footprint of 900x480 but a small one might be fine with an extra top. The drawer is a large 790 x 400 and opens right out to the full 400. It may overbalance the bench if it contains heavy items but that’s not really a design fault - more in the domain of common sense.A very nice compact hobby-workbench for light work at a great price.

Handy and compact
13 March 2023

I just wanted a simple bench to store my tools and do some soldering etc.I got this on sale and I have been very impressed. It went together easily and is surprisingly stable. I thought it would wobble but it doesn't. I added a couple of magnetic tool holders and now everything I need is close at hand.As long as you don't need to put really heavy stuff on it, it would be great for small jobs.

Metal part of bench is ok but……..
30 June 2021

I thought after I bought this that it was too bad. A month or so later after having some stuff on the top and bottom shelves I noticed the MDF was bowing downApon further inspection I then noticed that the bottom of the drawer was also bowing very badly. The option I went with was to replace all three MDF panels with marine ply of the same thicknesses. When I replaced them I also screwed them down. This worked and is 100 times stronger. Now I’ve not long noticed that the flimsy MDF peg board is also warping very badly under the weight of tools like pliers that I have hanging from them, which I will have to replace very soon. The other thing that really p@#ses me off is that the drawer won’t stay shut and every time I do something on the top of the bench it opens ... MoreI thought after I bought this that it was too bad. And yes it is on level concrete.I have screwed in a latch now to stop that. If all of the above problems were to be rectified then I would recommend it, but as it is, save your $100

Neat little bench
14 January 2022

Neat little bench, suitable for lightweight work. The bump-together construction really needs some extra help, for that I drilled and pop rivetted each joint so it stays together better. Best to heavily varnish or paint that MDF before assembly. Still a bit wobbly so added a square of plywood to the right hand side with bolts, much stronger now. Mounted power board on that new end piece and also wired (safely) and fitted a downlight under to top shelf. Make sure the bench frame is attached to power earth for safety reasons. I put an extra layer of 12mm ply on top of the supplied MDF top so it can be replaced easily when worn or ruined. This bench placed in a location out of the way where all the little in-house jobs can be done without needing to go to the "serious" ... MoreNeat little bench, suitable for lightweight work. Not heavy duty, but great for the price.

Bought this when it was on sale for about $70. I was sceptical and worried to say the least buying one. I bit the bullet, took one home and started to assemble it alone. It can be assembled solo no worries with basic tools. I used some sockets, spanner, Phillips screwdriver and rubber mallet for joining the metallic slots together. The instructions were basic and easy enough to follow. Mostly just pictures with some hints. I found the steps for installing the drawer into the guide rails rather confusing. But, just stick it towards the back, after the sliding mesh. Once finished, I bought some peg board hooks. Make sure they're the single, free hanging ones or the 25mm spacing doubles. I cut some rubber mats from work and stuck it on the bench, added a small vice and ... MoreBought this when it was on sale for about $70. I was sceptical and worried to say the least buying one. Sure, I could always add some extra bracing for support and for extra sturdiness, but I'm never gonna be smashing anything on it. It's mainly used for odd installs and soldering etc.

SCA Workbench Good Value at the Special Price

This is a small workbench but it was very cheap. It is easy to assemble, though the instructions are not crystal clear - you have to rely on the diagrams. Everything fitted together as expected except for one piece having a hole where it should have had a button, but this was easily fixed with a spare bolt. As there is no cross-bracing it is not very stable as a free standing workbench but I have it installed in a corner where it has no option to move. The MDF components fitted well and seemed to be of good quality except for being too thin to guarantee no future warping. I am wary about Chinese MDF, having previously bought shelving (not from Supercheap) which not only warped badly as soon as the weather became humid but also started growing fungus. In order to prevent any possibility of this happening I have painted all the MDF with two coats of oil-based paint.

SCA workbench assembly

nice cheap price, not very strong but purchased to make a charging station for garage & garden power tools, easy to follow instructions & assemble but lefthand drawer slide was damaged, managed to fix with pliers. attached a small strip light under top shelf & fixed a four outlet power board to front right side of top shelf, also made another shelf between drawer & bottom shelf. the unit accomodates all my rechargeable batteries & chargers (some large ego & rover mower batteries) plus electrical tools, legs are not adjustable for uneven garage floor, used plastic wedges.

Yeah, she's alright, but could be better

Fairly good work bench for the price, but I wouldn't pay full retail for it. The assembly was reminiscent of ikea furniture with a touch of the mallet to get the pins to fully lock in. Overall, once the whole thing is together its a sturdy unit, however the drawer is a bit disappointing, as it won't comfortably slide without giving the handles a good tug. Alignment is slightly out on the drawer, but that could be me using the eye-cromiter whilst assembling. I'd give it an 87/100 based on it being good, but not perfect.
