Scanpan Classic 3 Step Knife Sharpener

I'm hesitant to write a bad review, but in honesty this did a bad job, and actually put chips in the surface of my Scanpan cook's knife so I had to take it to a professional to get fixed. I'm very fussy and like a good blade that I use a steel on regularly. I bought this because the other Scanpan ceramic sharpener I had would not restore the edge. I'm not saying that this one is worse than others (apart from the coarse wheel chipping the blade, which was a bummer) I think I'm more of the - either get a proper stone and learn how to use it, or take your knives to a professional when they need it - school

Surprisingly good. I always feel I should master using whetstones, but I haven't, and I now have sharp and undamaged knives after using this sharpener.

Easy to use sharpener

I would definitely recommend this product for anyone who is not confident with a regular sharpening steel. This product is easy to use, and I thought the results were great, nice sharp knives again.

Excellent knife sharpener

It works perfectly to sharpen blunt knives and is extremely easy to use as per the instructions. You don't need to press hard and the knife comes out gleamingly sharp at the end. I always wipe the knife afterwards with a kitchen towel to remove any fine metal dust. Highly recommended!

Extremely happy

This sharpener does the job it should, no probs. As directed, do not placeundue pressure on the blade when drawing it through.You can hear the grind causing damage. I used it to sharpen a boning knife and a filleting knife, neither used for 3+years and both in poor nick.Using each sequence of coarse, medium, fine etc it took less than 3 mins.per blade for top class results.Excellent sharpener, highly recommended. Just light pressure.

My only regret is not buying this sooner

This is very very good. I bought a scanpan knife block over a year ago, and the steel was only going so far. This sharpener has rejuvenated to new my scan pan knives, and also an unused old mundial cleaver to new. The price of this scanpan sharpener was cheaper than getting 1 knife professionally sharpened once, it arrived fast, and I have it now for future use. Fantastic.

My Scanpan knives are now so sharp after using the Scanpan sharpener they slice thru ripe tomatoes like a hot knife thru butter. The sharpener is well designed, easy to use whether you are right or left handed, and leaves your knives razor sharp. I recommend it.David

It's a quality item, as you would expect of such a brand. I used it on extremely blunt knives and I would rate it a firm 8/10 for performance. Despite it having the three sharpening options, I don't think you could ever expect it to work as well as having your knifes professionally sharpened and to that end, I think it's excellent value for the home cook who uses moderate to mid range quality knifes. While i don't feel it can match professional sharpening, I do feel that the milder sharpening options do the job of a knife steel very well. Yes, it does work!

I had read several reviews before buying this sharpener and was concerned that a couple of people were not happy. However, most reviewers were and I have to say that I have found it very effective, sharpening some really dull knives beautifully. Maybe you have to be careful to do it exactly as the instructions say and not press too hard. I'm very satisfied, both with the sharpener and the service from Kitchen Warehouse.
