The good: comfortable boots straight out of the box requiring no breaking in. Not a noticeably heavy boot, especially given that they're leather. Easy to clean without multiple seams across the outside or fabric panels. Reasonably grippy soles across all terrain types. The bad: lacing system constantly slips requiring retightening multiple times across the day. Boot feels too wide and not shaped to fit the back and sides of the heel, allowing friction and blisters (contributed to by the loosening laces). The tongue slips off to the side, possibly too narrow in design. Lack of full toe guard/rand over the toe means leather toe area gets very scuffed up.

These were comfortable right out of the box. Good quality leather uppers and quality construction overall. I used these for early deer season hunting recently, and they were great. Lightweight, and waterproof. I like these boots because they are form fitting and agile. They feel like they?re part of me. I live and spend my time in the Adirondacks so it?s a very diverse climate. I am confident these will do great in most active conditions all year round aside from heavy deep snow. Tread is aggressive but not bulky or obnoxiously stiff. These are Sturdy, supportive, and flexible. I condition all my boots in sno-seal because of the diverse climates and is helps with waterproofing. It's proven to be durable too, and I've had no issues with the water getting in. All around i've enjoyed the boot and would easily recommend it for dayhikes to weekend backpacking except for the following...Gaps:There's no way around it, this boot's grip on wet rocks is just scary. I'm a generally athletic and surefooted 20 something year old, and i've never had my feet come out from under me like they have in these boots on off-grade wet (or even sometimes dry) rocks. More than once i've watched my GF shoot across something in her Danners (which should be cheaper boots by all account) only to watch me slip out and have to crawl across. The last time it happened I almost smacked my head on a rock, and had hang for a while to catch my composure. Maybe this sounds dramatic to some, but a tumble in the backcountry can turn serious quick and I'd want to feel comfortable trusting my boots. For this reason, I unfortunately can't recommend these boots to anyone

I bought these bought a about a month ago, and they are a great pair of boots. They were extremely comfortable right out of the box and had zero break in time. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the leather is much softer than I was expecting, which has its pros and cons. If you are looking for a pair of boots that are comfortable with no break in time then I highly recommend these. If you want a pair of boots like these that are made from stiffer leather go with something like the Asolo leather boots.
I love the boot! But the soles are designed to wear out and wear out they do. They are designed to be resoled but only in Europe! There is nowhere in Australia that can do it! So though the boot is fantastic once you wear the sole down the boot is rubbish. Mine lasted 2yrs max The upper is still in great condition very disappointed. Macpac said they have never heard of anyone wearing out the sole but a quick internet search and I found that is how they were designed. Light weight and lots of grip but not for long we’ll not long enough for the price!!!
I'm so gutted! I had purchased these based on positive reviews from friends and what I read on the internet, I had worn them for a couple of hours per week walking the dog in long wet grass and they passed the waterproof test and they were comfortable I wore thick woolen socks . I recently walked the kepler track and had terrible problems with the boots causing irritation to my Achilles and the tendon on my right ankle . I ended up walking the rest of the track in Socks and my hut sandals. The track isn't technical so it was fine . I thought the boots would be fine after the first day after "breaking them in " 😒 but no, the areas flared up as soon as i walked 50 meters.so they aren't for me. Boo 😪
Boots looks nice but didn't work for me, purchased boots online and picked up but tried other boots on before I left with mine to make sure they would work (live far out of the way wanted to make sure a pair was left)After making my many laps in the store it felt comfortable like the others. I broke my ankle when out walking a few years ago (requiring a helicopter rescue and a Christmas Day operation) and walking wearing boots without discomfort has been difficult - so I have tended to stick to walking shoes, even in the mountains. But it was time to get a pair of boots again. These boots are very comfortable, but provide sufficient support and protection for a day out in most environments. Obviously, they are not suitable for challenging winter conditions in the high mountains, but for most less difficult walking they have performed well. They have kept my feet dry in wet conditions and seem to breath well - but I have not used them in hot weather yet.
So, I took a chance on this boot when my old stand by was no longer available (Sundowner's RIP) mainly because of the looks. I know, lame reason. However! I work in and out of the office and need a strong, durable boot that doesn't look like a strong, durable boot. The Terra GTX basically checked all the boxes I needed. It looks great and fits into the new "Business Casual" realm that the HR thugs promote, and it works in the woods. How, you ask? Glad you did. Great support, good arch, nice foot bed, and best of all...they are so light. Like that topping that Grandma used to put on homemade pies. (Thanks Grandma!) I've put them them through bona fide heck and they still look and feel great. I will probably buy a reserve pair for the closet...just in case I go hiking ... These boots have a well executed construction, but the sole design is way too soft. The leather upper is excellent at keeping water out protecting the foot. I spent a day on soft spring snow and my feet were dry. They don't pick up dirt walking through mud and can handle multiple creek crossings. The sole unfortunately is too soft for a mountain boot. Even when walking on gravel roads I can feel the rocks bellow. On rough terrain they don't offer enough support and stability. It almost feels like I am walking in crocs with a leather upper. My previous boots were the Kailash (non pro) which were excellent. While not recommended the old kailash could be used with crampons. I am fairly disappointed in MEC staff as I inquired regarding the difference between terra pro and kailah pro. They said the only difference was the toe cap. The difference is massive. The Kailash is a stiff, rugged, boot that is excellent for hiking to summer mountaineering. If you are looking for a light soft boot these are excellent. I would give them a five stars for that. For a mountain hiking boot they get zero stars.
