These shoes don't need breaking-in.In terms of other qualities -- edging on small foot chips, feel/sensitivity -- these seem to be middle-of-the-road. For example, the Miura seems stiffer and can hold tiny edges better. The Quantix seem softer and gives you a bit better feel. The Skwama seems to be similarly comfortable for wide-ish feet, but these are less aggressive. These are definitley my go-to for comfort without significant compromise in performance. The rubber may wear slightly more quickly but I believe this is the price you pay for softer compounds. I am on my seoncd pair, but plan to re-sole them eventually. I wear these in my street shoes size.

I loved these things until my unkempt big toenail wore an unrepairable hole in the rand. Ever scraped your toenail on a climbing gym wall? It's not good. From these I went to the LaSportiva Tarantula Boulders. I like them enough but they don't have the same support/energy when lifting off toe-holds as the Vapor V's. They were also a bit cheaper than these but knowing what I know now I would have bought another pair of Vapors. I think I prefer the more traditional tongue design and padding on these more than the La Sportivas burrito style. Great rubber and edging on both pairs!

I have a wider foot with a lower foot volume and smaller heel, this makes many shoes like the solutions fit very awkwardly. I am a street shoe size 9.5 with the exception for the rare 9 if the shoe is very wide or 10 if the shoe is narrow. After trying on the 9.5 and 10 I chose the 10. The Vapor V fit well out of the box and got continually more comfortable as they broke in. They broke in about half a size so I could have possibly downsized half a size but I have very little dead space in the shoe overall. A few months in, climbing about 4x per week they show pretty mild wear. The first part to show wear was the straps which I have noticed get in the way while toe hooking slightly. While the straps have shown some wear they have not ripped or broken down majorly in ... MoreI have a wider foot with a lower foot volume and smaller heel, this makes many shoes like the solutions fit very awkwardly. The toe box is chunky and not very sensitive with plenty of rubber, stiff and pointed making them great for edging. The XS edge rubber has been great for edging in all situations and particularly outdoors but just okay for indoor use. Overall the shoe is not your best smearing shoe but can get the job done. The midsole is flexible allowing the shoe to be more comfortable while having a stiff toe box. These shoes are great all around shoes and have become my main outdoor shoe. Very comfortable for long days yet precise but not the best rubber for indoor use. I do enjoy these and how they've broken in so I will likely get them resoled in XS grip 2 rubber when they wear out for better indoor use (primarily what I do)

I got these sized down (normally 43 in evolv, got these in a 41) and they have been pretty uncomfortably tight for a bit longer than I expected. I really do like the shape of the shoe, the downturn is really comfortable now after 5 or 6 sessions of pain in them. The closure feels super secure and the padded tongue is nice. The one drawback is the toe patch feels a bit thin and small, and I do wish it covered a little more of the shoe. The heel is a little narrow for hooking, but once placed well it locks right in and feels very stable. The heel is the best fitting I've had in a climbing shoe, and it feels like it's sucking my foot in (I typically wear evolv and the heel doesn't fit me quite as nicely).Overall a great shoe, especially if you can get it on sale!
I bought this shoe a little over a month ago and am very happy with what it has allowed me to do. I had previously used a flat climbing shoe that was a size too big but I could still get some work done. This shoe with its slightly more aggressive shape has helped with keeping a foothold of some of the trickier spots. The only downside I’ve seen with it is that it doesn’t do as well on bigger Boulder climbs. This meaning that when jumping to another foothold, the sole of the shoe didn’t have enough grip to keep from slipping off the hold. So I’d highly recommend d it for tall wall and more technical climbs but maybe keep a pair of cheaper shoes for those more flat footed Boulder problems.
I bought these second-hand in the REI re-Supply 2-months ago on a whim, since I hadn't climbed with Scarpas since my first ever climbing shoes (Vapor Vs). Needless to say, I am in love with these shoes. The grip is fantastic, and even though they're not as aggressive as my Shamans or Solutions, I actually prefer these when I'm top roping and balancing on super small chips.I fit between a EU40 - EU 42.5 climbing shoe. I got these as a 41 and they fit perfect, though a bit tight since they don't stretch. That being said, my Vapors split in the toe the with the same issues that others have noted, I think Scarpas are just known for that. I think what really does it is smearing rough/coarse gym walls (that's what did it to my vapors), as i know plenty of friends with ... MoreI bought these second-hand in the REI re-Supply 2-months ago on a whim, since I hadn't climbed with Scarpas since my first ever climbing shoes (Vapor Vs). It's up to you if it's worth that full pricetag, but if you find these discounted or on sale, snatch them up! You won't regret it.
I have narrow feet, and these fit very comfortably. It’s a stiff shoe for great extension, and solid edging on gym walls. Works well for intermediate climbs with small, sharp features. That said, the rubber isn’t nearly on par with other shoes in this price range. The rands and tops are really thin, and the bottom sole doesn’t stick well on smaller smears. It feels like they blew the budget on the platform, and the outer rubber was an afterthought. I don’t expect these to last long. A shame for such a comfortable shoe.
I love these shoes, I’ve bought multiple pairs and have resoled them multiple times. They are pretty versatile but excel especially in comp type boulders for me. Mostly use them for indoor bouldering but also work great for outdoor bouldering and sport routes.I wear a US men’s size 9 and have a bit more narrow feet. I buy a 41.5EU, this isn’t the tightest I could go but this is a perfect balance of comfort and form fitting for me. These fit my feet perfectly.Only downside is they seem to wear out a bit quicker than other shoes in the price range.
I really liked this shoe when I first got it! Comfortable but aggressive enough for intermediate climbing. I boulder 4 days a week and am happy with how they have felt on my feet but during long sessions, I might eventually slip them off due to discomfort. For an intermediate climber, they’re a great shoe performance and comfort-wise.A few weeks after purchase, one of the velcro bands entirely separated. The strap and the velcro were no longer attached, so I started to climb with tape around the strap to keep it together. I planned to get some superglue which would’ve taken care of this easily, but I never got around to it because the tape worked fine. After climbing more, I did notice other parts on the shoe where pieces were separating. It may have been due to ... MoreI really liked this shoe when I first got it! After climbing more, I did notice other parts on the shoe where pieces were separating. It may have been due to my sweaty feet but my biggest issue with these shoes have been the glue keeping them together!Today, after a few months of use, the toe box completely split. I was a bit surprised since usually, when my shoes are gonna need to be resoled, I see the rubber weakening and thinning ahead of the time. In this case, the rubber looked solid, but I hopped down from a boulder and noticed all of a sudden that there was a huge split in the toe. Bummer, but seems in line with what most reviewers say.Overall, I did get some great use out of these shoes. I probably will get them resoled, and try to glue the strap back together, but I’d be wary of purchasing these shoes at this price and I probably am going to invest in a different pair and resole these to use as a backup pair.
Got the Vapor V size 43 online and found they were too big so went in to shop to replace with smaller size. Ended up sizing down to 41.5 suprisingly. I have a set of Instinct VSR at 42 and found the Vapor V way more comfortable. Breaking in process was easy. Toe box is slightly wider compared to Instinct VSR.Has Vibram Edge rubber slightly harder but still has plenty of grip.Has more support in the midsole.Found toe and heel hooking and edging precise.Compared to the Instinct VSR the Vapor V are an excellent all round shoe.I use these all the time doing 2-3 hour sessions without having to take them off.PS. I also have a pair of Scarpa Veloce even smaller at size 41 super comfy and heaps grippy.Best thing to do when buying new shoes is go in and try different ... MoreGot the Vapor V size 43 online and found they were too big so went in to shop to replace with smaller size.
