I was seeking a weather-resistant, key-less system for multiple doors in a multifamily residence. I found the Schlage model FE595 easy to install and program. There are 19, user-programmable codes which can be used simultaneously in each lock. This permits me to program multiple doors with one (or more), four-digit code assigned to each tenant (e.g.the tenant gets to chose their four digit code which will permit them access to garage, laundry, utility room, foyer, and their residence- if that's the way you wish to manage access). When their lease terminates, their code(s) can be erased from each common area door in minutes without affecting access codes assigned to the other tenants. No chasing and labeling hard keys! The metal finish feels durable as do the buttons; the numbers won't wear off.A brand-name, 9-volt battery was supplied and the instructions estimate 2-year life. An indicator flashes to signal the need for battery replacement which should take minutes using a screwdriver from the inside of the door. Codes are retained while the battery is replaced.Instructions were clear and there are programming videos on Youtube.I will buy again.

It worked for only two months. I thought it was the battery. When I tried to change the battery, I saw the wires were frayed with metal sticking out. I did receive a refund for the unit, however I also paid for the installation of the keypad. I don’t know if the unit was defective or was damaged by the installer. But at the end of the day I have a keypad lock that doesn’t work and I now still have to use a key to get into my home. The whole purpose of buying this lock was to be keyless! And now I have to use a key again and I’m out $100.00 for the installation. Make that make sense!!

Easy to install but you will need a small Phillips head screwdriver as one is not provided. Looks good against darker colored doors. You will need to swap the battery every 6 to 9 months to make sure you don't lose power. One it blinks red its to late as there is no way to jumpstart to get around a code, so keep the key, of which there is only one so you may want to make a backup. And as a last reminder keep the instructions in a safe place as the codes are on them and you don't to lose that unlesss you want to take the lock apart as the codes are on the inside of the lock itself. Also the instructions to create or delete codes are on that paper, so again put it in a safe place.

Solid, works great. Very happy with the product. It was easy to install and simple to change the battery. Only thing causing my less than perfect rating is that the handles 'snap' on and have a little 'wiggle room' to them. Our old handles screwed into place and had no play in them. Not a security issue, just less than perfect when you pull the handle. Also, you can only store two codes.
Spring 2022 Home Depot installed a new front door and a new Schlage 365 level lock . The HD installer took about 20 min to install, test the mechanism and transfer the key lock. The lock gets used a couple times a day-never failed in 1500 operations. The darkness illumination has used about 20 times and nighttime illuminated keys are handy. If you wrongly enter the combination, an error red warning indicate to start over. No complaints here. Nice not searching or fumbling for keys. You can accept to use preexisting combinations or easily enter your favorite combination. All-around winner.
I installed this electronic lock on my shed door. It was one of the best things I even did. I used to have to open a combination padlock then re-lock it when I was through. Now I just put in the four numbers and it is open. Now I am thinking about putting one on my front and back door.I am a 79 year old female and I installed it myself. The directions were very easy to follow. When I ordered the lock I filled out the form for Schlage to have it keyed to my front and back door. Now I don't have a an extra key to carry!!! Without a doubt, I would recommend this lock to everybody.
Door lock was easy to install and has worked perfectly so far!(two months) The features are excellent. Leaving the door locked it always opens from the inside and when I leave there is no second guessing that the door will be locked when I close the door.Don't lose the paper work that has the 6 digit program code to re code your 4 digit password codes. They do have a sticker placed on the inside of the casing facing the door with this code but you will need to un assemble the lock to access it. But at least you know it's there just in case. The blue back light for numbers is nice when pushing the Schlage button on top.It was easily re keyed by Home Depot at no charge. Was not sure if handle would hit my porch storm door handle when both doors were closed so I bought a ... MoreDoor lock was easy to install and has worked perfectly so far!(two months) The features are excellent. I didn't have a hole drilled in my door for a deadbolt. The standard 5 1/2 inches between centers WILL NOT work for this combination if you have pre existing holes drilled (Camelot electronic door lock and Camelot electronic dead bolt). No where does it show the dimension between centers. You can drill a hole as far apart as you want as long as both will fit. I called Schlage and they recommended 9 inches between hole centers. (yeah I don't know anything about no sweepstake entry.. not why I posted this review.)
I just installed this today, so I can't speak for battery life or longevity as of yet. I did use the included battery, which is just a regular 9V Duracell, so when that needs replacing I'll install a lithium one instead. The install was quite straight-forward and, aside from a few extra steps, was not really any more difficult than installing a standard door knob. Instructions were simple, though a few of the pictures left me momentarily confused. The lock is easy to program and use and all the features worked as expected. The programmable codes are limited to four digits, which was not an issue for me. It seems pretty well constructed. The programmable codes are limited to four digits, which was not an issue for me. It seems pretty well constructed. This door knob was installed on our garage door to stop my dad, who has fairly advanced dementia, from sneaking out of the house. Since people need to be able to use that door from either side, using something like a door guardian lock would not have worked. I installed the door knob backwards, so the keypad is on the inside of the house and it will keep him from entering the garage unsupervised. This method wouldn't work on an exterior door (it only locks on one side), but works fantastic for keeping him out of the garage while still making it easy to bring groceries and such into the house. The auto lock is timed just right and seems to work well. I had no issues disabling the lock while testing everything either. I'd definitely recommend this if you're trying to keep someone with dementia from passing through an interior door.
This is the second such lock I've purchased, and the third one I've used. The first -- possibly a 1st-generation model -- had cracking on the buttons after a surprisingly short time. It was replaced -- for free! -- by Schlage. That one lasted for perhaps five years before it began to fail: it sometimes wouldn't unlock the door even after the correct code was used. Changing the battery did not solve the issue. So, this is the third one -- third time's the charm?
We had one of these schlage electronic locks for almost 20 years and when it came time to get another one, we didn’t hesitate we got the same thing. Another Schlage electronic walk. When my son was little we didn’t trust him caring a key that he might lose, but he could remember a four digit code and that’s how we made sure that he always had access to the house now that everybody’s grown up and everything is just still handy to walk up to the door put the code in and get in the house without having the fumble to find a key.
