Went through first international trip perfectly. Note that the outer dimensions are very big - not all cars will fit it in. But the protection is worth it.

Having begged and borrowed various bike boxes from friends and teammates over the past couple of years I decided to invest in one of my own. After a lot of research the Scicon came out top in terms of value vs protection, it's not the cheapest out there but it felt much better than the Bike Box Alan and Bonza Bike Boxes I'd used in the past.It is very easy to pack/unpack the bike, takes no more than 10 mins and the only things that need to be removed are the left pedal and the seat/seatpost, handlebars need to be loosened but otherwise the bike can be packed intact - even with the rear mech left in place.I've only traveled with the bike on two flights but in both cases the bike was untouched, nothing moved in the box and aside from a few scratches the outside of ... Bought this to replace a perfectly good semi-hard case and now wish I hadn't spent the extra money. First trip (Brisbane-Cairns) no issues.Second trip (Brisbane-Frankfurt via Singapore) both internal straps failed due to their poor design: The webbing holes stretched over the internal bolts/washers thereby allowing the frame to fall to the bottom of the box. I now have a cracked drive side chainstay which will required either expensive repair or frame replacement. Wish I'd stuck with my cheap and cheerful (but never problematic) box.
I had a (cheap) semi-hard case which I have used extensively with no issues. Panic over my bike getting damaged on 2 long-haul flights to an Ironman event drove me to buy this much more expensive box (which is not as pictured, by the way - it has black wheels). Unfortunately, the straps suspending the frame in the box are poorly designed (the webbing came off the single screws holding them to the box) and failed so the frame was free to fall to the bottom of the box, resulting in a cracked drive side chain stay. So my expensive bike box has now cost me at least a frame repair and paint if not a new frame. Very disappointed.
This is a great box, easy to push around an airport and just about stays under 23kg with a 8kg bike and shoes in it.
