I buy both the large and small sized oats by Scott's as I find they are consistently good. Other named porridges I've found to have husks in amongst the oats which I have to spit out, urgh!I also use oats to thicken my soups and stews/casseroles, healthier than flour and those who turn their nose up at porridge in the household get the benefit of the oats without realising it!

I've been buying these porage oats for years. They used to make a lovely thick trad porage, but they are not the chunky flakes they used to be, they are like the regular ones. Just another Quaker product now.

Free gift I have porridge every morning and usually go for a less ground down oat as I like a bit of bite in my porridge. These go a little soft for me but do cook very quickly. I tend to add less water so they stay a bit firmer but I will probably stick to my usual brand. Star added as the box is recyclable and there is no plastic inner-box bashed in on one corner but thats Ocado and not the brands fault.

Not awful, but a lot of dust, tiny broken oats, really mushy texture on porridge as a result. Taste was good, but the texture was quite off putting . I prefer the Mornflake jumbo oats better. We?ll probably use these oats for recipes or grinding into flour). We got this as a free gift to review.
It’s our regular shopping staff last few years. I did try few different ones even organic ones for my baby boy but only with this one he never have problems for breakfast. I love it by myself as well. Highly recommended.
I make porridge in a batch in my microwave. I put in in single portions and freeze it. I made some last night with 4pints of milk which was reduced at the store so I got a dozen bowls of porridge for around 5p each. If you are making it for family you can make it while cooking tea or dinner the night before and just heat it up in the morning for a hot meal before the kids go to school. You can add fruit to it but I find kids like to add a teaspoon of jam to it. It keeps them full till lunchtime and it's very cheap to make especially with food and energy prices rising so much.
Decided to try this while it was on offer as an alternative to my usual brand before I ran out. Oh my goodness! This one is SO good, so much better. As soon as I added milk it seemed to absorb quickly. The texture and taste is creamy and rich & I use only a little milk mixed either with water or a light organic nut milk just to keep dairy intake down. Just hope I remember to keep to the right portion size! Added to favourites and next box already in the trolley.
I'm really surprised at the amount of good comments here, this has to be the worst porridge ever.My mum used to say in the 80s that this porrrige was rubbish and she was spot on,Years later I eventually bought it and it's absolutely disgusting with a rubbery texture. I am making it right as my budget oats and stores own oats are delicious. However I must say that Scott's were doing an old fashioned oats version which was larger oats and those were absolutely delicious
These are fine if you want baby food consistency but not what I consider proper porridge. They are so finely ground they make a homogenous gel almost instantly. I will stick with the old fashioned rolled oats.
I have preferred this for years for, porridge,& flapjacks . Recently discovered to use by grinding down to add to home made bread flour,as 'oat flour'. It makes a 'nutty' tasting bread, needing just a bit more liquid than usual. 1/4 oat flour to 3/4 strong white bread flour added to yeast , salt, 1/2 milk & warm 1/2 water following a receipe. Works a treat, making closer textured bread or rolls.Great toasted. I usually slice my rolls into 3, across, giving me round 3 slices, cut in 2 for toast.2 rolls makes 3 small round sandwiches, all crumbs or over thin slices I keep to use as fresh breadcrumbs , freezing until enough to use grind down, or grate. The bread keeps you( or children) full for longer, plus slow release energy, better than just white bread.Filled up my ... MoreI have preferred this for years for, porridge,& flapjacks . Freezes well ,or keeps well in a tin lined with grease proof paper.
