The rod holder works well. It was easy to install on my boat. It holds both my light trout rod as well as my trolling rod. I like that the rod holder pulls out of the base easily while fishing with it at 90 deg. I hooked a 25# lake trout yesterday. and I easily pulled the rod and holder out to set the hook. I like the feature of locking the holder in the base as well as locking the pole in the rod holder.I would recommend this.

Have used these for thirty years in prior versions like the Fish-On ones. This last pair, I picked up at the local West Marine store. The splined rod holder shaft is jammed in the base on both of them. Just to get one out, we spent fifteen minutes with a padded vise and a rubber mallet. This was the case with both samples. Tried sanding a little flash on the splines and also using lubricant, nothing worked. They are a great design, well made and tough. But not usable at all as you cannot adjust them. The splined shaft is not manufactured to fit properly in the splined base receptacle.

I have a small boat and only had room for two standard flush mount rod holders, so I bought two of these Scotty rod holders to meet my needs. I went bottom fishing offshore and initially felt reluctant to use these Scotty Rod Holders, but eventually needed to utilize them. I threw a bait and set a pole. The pole in that holder doubled over. Penn 4/0...eventually lost the fish (after a 2-3 minute fight), but the rod holder took a massive hit...and performed excellently. No damage...no bending...no slipping into another position. That rod holder worked so well...I've decided to buy two more. That's why I'm on this website and giving a review today. I was glad to see they were still available. BTW...that day caught many muttons, lanes and reds.
Struggling to find in SATaking them there for my boatFishing at cape pointTrawling rigs these are the best
A very well built rod holder. It has a generous size that allows a wide range of rods to be used and the fittings fit all the other types of holder in the range. I bought 2 of these initially but have since bought 2 more and another 2 scotty 350.Brilliant holders, can't recommend highly enough
I know there are plenty of akternatives and knockoffs out there. The scotty is the leader and premium product. The eagle claw, cabelas and others will work for a while but the scotty will last years of hard use. The other brands wear out and tou dont want your rod holder to be the weak point especially pulling planer boards, dipsies and deep diving olugs. The ironic thing is they arent even any more ezpensive. I noticed they cheapened up their packaging for 2013, but just give the product a good once-over before checking out. I have six on my new Alumacraft and two spares. I had Tite Kiks on my old boat... No comparisin. My far the easiest and most positive adjustment and the largest choice of base designs.... Great oroduct at a very good price.
Installed on kayak in short time. Locking feature for rod holder is nice. Not super easy to turn but not too difficult either.Plastic seems strong and durable.Rod holder can be pulled out of base without too much effort, but it is secured and isn’t going got come out on its own without being pulled out.
I recently bought a new Bass Tracker boat and mounted 4 of these on the new track system they put in the side rail. We fish in the rivers in really fast moving water for Catfish. These rod holders keep the rods secure even when the 10 foot rods are bent over double. I liked them so much brought 2 more to add to the 2 I already had mounted in the front of the boat. Have 6 altogether. Would recommend this product to any one that uses more than one rod when fishing.
The dimensions of this mean it just will not work for spinning rods unless they have a pretty long butt. I know some new ones do but it is pretty limited on what it will work with. I'm not going to be using it at all. It was a total bust for me. The materials are OK but what does it matter if the design is no good. I tried it with a bait cast setup as well and it really was no good for that either. It's a paper weight. I'm ditching this whole route and will just get a millennium marine roid holder.
