I thoroughly enjoy engaging in PvP battles, especially after investing an hour and a half in grinding for loot to enhance my faction grade. It's all the more disheartening, though, when you end up losing because you're unable to respawn due to a persistent loading bug after a single visit to the ferryman. Regretful purchase. maybe if the December update arrives it'll be playable

Brilliantly crafted and visually stunning, SOT immerses players in a captivating world of adventure. With intricate gameplay mechanics and a compelling storyline, it offers hours of thrilling entertainment. However, occasional technical glitches detract from an otherwise seamless experience. Overall, a must-play for gaming enthusiasts seeking an epic journey.

The game is fun, interesting , and completely free after initial purchase. It has great animation. You can play some crazy missions and fight creatures like megalodons , kraken, skeletons, ghost ships, and other crazy things. Or you can just run small merchant deliveries, go fishings, sail the seas and relax hearing the ocean noises. I gave it a lower review because the community is really toxic. You may join random people on a ship and have a great time. Or you can get stuck with random people who want to troll you the whole time and make you miserable. Also their are alot of players in the game who just cruise around sinking ships for no reason. Even you are just fishing. They'll come to your ship, kill you , and sink your ship just for existing. This is a really fun game but highly recommend having your own crew to play with. You can play with up to 4 people total. This is a role play game and you have various adventures to complete. You will also run into other players or ghost ships and get suddenly be in a battle for your life. The graphics are decent enough and the game has a lot of variety in what you can do day to day. The biggest downside is at times it can be pretty glitchy. This has become better in recent months, but at times, has been pretty bad. They should also make some goals beyond pirate legend because once you achieve this status, there is not much else to work towards. Overall, this is a good game and after the initial purchase, 100% free which is great.
I technically play this game on my PC via the Xbox app. I started playing this game in November of 2020 and since then have been absolutely hooked! This is literally one of the most gorgeous games I've ever played in my life and it is so immersive in so many different ways. There are plenty of opportunities for PvE through tall tales, emissary quests, and generally sailing around...but if you're looking for some spice, you can go all out PvP. That's really what I love about this game the most - the versatility. The lore that the creators have developed makes for an interesting rollercoaster ride throughout the Sea of Thieves, especially with the newest addition of Pirates of the Caribbean--which I was actually really nervous for, but the way they've woven the stories together makes so much sense and keeps the game flowing in a direction that I'm really happy to be a part of. Remember, it's not about the gold...it's about the glory!
This game is a gem with its perks and, of course, the occasional hiccups. Yet, all those troubles fade into insignificance when you're playing with your friend, feeling the ocean breeze, firing yourself from a cannon onto another ship, petting your parrot, munching on worms and regurgitating on your buddies, playing shanties, and imbibing mysterious grog until you're inebriated. Isn't it a beautiful experience? I wholeheartedly recommend playing this game; you won't regret it! FOTD OF THE DAMNED!!!!!
This game might be my favorite of all time. No game allows the player to have near as much open world freedom and fun with friends, and accommodates any playstyle. Do you like hacking and slashing AI controlled monsters and engaging in 1500s naval combat with cannons and pirate ships? This is the perfect game. Do you like relaxing on paradise like islands with little animals and fishing in front of the sunset? This is the perfect game. Maybe you’re more into heists, stealing gold from vaults and other players. You can do that in this game. It has everything. It’s beautiful, allows the player to involve themselves in whatever level of action they want, and all while being online and with friends. Incredible stuff.
This was hands-down my favorite game of 2018, and I still play it more than anything else I picked up over the holidays (Battlefield V, Red Dead II). It’s NOT for everyone. The learning curve is steep and there’s nothing to stop griefers (jerks who steal from other players) from beating up on you day one. And the only thing you’re working for is new skins for your ship and outfits/accessories for your character. Obtaining the game’s psuedo-end state of “Pirate Legend†will take hundreds of hours. So why do I love it so much? I’ve never played a game that came with such a great sense of adventure. You never know what is going to happen, good or bad, and for a game that has little to no story line built in, I have countless stories to tell that are ... MoreThis was hands-down my favorite game of 2018, and I still play it more than anything else I picked up over the holidays (Battlefield V, Red Dead II). So why do I love it so much? I’ve never played a game that came with such a great sense of adventure. You never know what is going to happen, good or bad, and for a game that has little to no story line built in, I have countless stories to tell that are uniquely mine. As an example the other day I was playing solo and had a boatload of valuable treasure on my, uh, boat when a group of griefers (jerks trying to rob me) started chasing me down. I ran for in and took off with a direct tail-wind (gives you the best speed). As I got to the perimeter of the map I realized I was running out of room, but as luck would have it there was a computer-controlled skeleton ship hanging out by one of the islands. I went past the island and then cut to the west, hoping to draw the griefers into the skeleton ship. It worked, as I could hear cannon fire and all sorts of fighting breaking loose from where I had lost sight of them. I reversed my direction to throw them off entirely and was chucking to myself when the water turned dark and a Kraken surfaced. I fought with all I had but I had picked a bigger ship (brigantine) to play solo and I couldn’t keep up with repairs and trying to get away. I lost my ship and everything on it, but had a blast along the way.
Bought these as a Christmas present and wanted to let him use them for a few weeks before I reviewed. So far they are working really well. He said they last slightly less than the regular AA batteries that we were using but there are 4 of them so it's easy to just swap them out and keep playing. They charge up pretty quick and I like the feature that shows which batteries are completely charged and which ones are charging. So far I'm happy with my purchase.
As Red Dead Redemption 2 is probably the ultimate horse riding and cowboy simulator in game form, so Sea of Thieves is, in my opinion, the ultimate sailing and pirate simulator to date! Although technically not up there with Red Dead, the graphics have a wonderful stylised look, which is very easy on the eye. The skies and lighting can be incredibly beautiful. The gameplay is extremely immersive. Even on the 2 player Sloop, the smallest of the three available ships (the others are Brig and Galleon), the ship actually starts to feel like home after a short amount of time. The sword combat is perhaps a little simplistic, but the pvp ship combat is excellent: to succeed you definitely need to understand reefing sails, wind direction and cannonball arcs. In other words the sailing is actually very realistic! Combine that with a large open world, treasure and secrets to discover, other player ships to sink and loot and ship/character customisation l (a huge amount has apparently been added since launch), this is extremely exciting and satisfying to play.
