That's very useful for my lightweight backpacking trip during the bug season. The aluminum pole is more durable than the carbon fibre version. I got the double version it's big enough for myself plus the gear. The single version is way too small and has less headroom.

Planning on using it for an upcoming trip to rural Brazil ;I like the fact there’s more headroom than the traditional nets that usually have a cone shape … it feels less restrictive;I also like the hem being elastic since it helps to put and keep it in place so I feel more secure from insects

This shelter is incredibly light weight and compact, yet it comfortably fits two adults and it is very easy to set up.We like the versatility of it in that you can fix it to the gound or tuck it below the mattress if you are on a bed or if you are on a hard surface. We used it while camping in a lean-to on a wood surface and slept quite well. If you set it up on a hard surface you just need to make sure the corners are well streched or else the net (and therefore the mosquitos) will touch you.Ours came with a couple of small holes, so we sent it back and are now waiting for the replacement, but we really liked it.The downside is that it seems quite fragile, so it looks like it has to be handled with care and this is the reason for not giving 5 stars, but I guess ... MoreThis shelter is incredibly light weight and compact, yet it comfortably fits two adults and it is very easy to set up.We like the versatility of it in that you can fix it to the gound or tuck it below the mattress if you are on a bed or if you are on a hard surface. We used it while camping in a lean-to on a wood surface and slept quite well. Very versatile and lightweight shelter from bugs, paired with a small tarp this is ideal for ultra lightweight backpacking and as a quick deploy shelter when the mosquitos are really bad.
This bug net is well designed and offers a nice balance between livable space and weight. It packs down significantly smaller than comparable options, taking up minimal bulk in a backpack. It looks a bit flimsy, which is to be expected in such a lightweight item, but if handled cautiously it should be able to sustain normal wear and tear. Like any item made of bug net, you should be prepared to do some field repairs.I have yet to try it in midges territory, but it doesn't look like traditional no-see-um netting. The net even has some stretch to it. It works very well with mosquitoes and flies. The design is relatively well thought of, except for 2 details:- It is quite awkward to get in and out of it, as there is no door and you have to undo your setup quite a ... MoreThis bug net is well designed and offers a nice balance between livable space and weight. It's main advantage is its low weight and bulk, and the fact that it still edges the competitors.
If it’s summer, leave your tent behind and grab this plus a tarp and you’ll be so glad you did. I used a sil nylon poncho, Tyvex ground sheet and a ridge line with 3 prusik & mini biners. So lite wt. you’ll wonder why you never did this before. If your packing a bow or a rifle you have got to make up for the extra weight by going lite with your shelter if you want to really get out there anyway.
Purchased this for some third world travel. Super compact and lightweight. Shock-corded DAC aluminum spreader bar is what makes this net/cover great, however, this is ideal for one person as the open area is limited below the spreader bar. Fits perfectly over a twin and/or queen size mattress. The netting is excellent, albeit delicate, and the Insect Shield is a plus…keeping mosquitoes from even thinking about it.Also used as a shelter under a low tree branch. Recommend using w/ a 80”x50“ (give or take) tarp below utilizing 4 stakeout points.
I used the product for five days in the Maine's Baxter State Park wilderness, sleeping in lean-to shelters. Black flies and mosquitos were thick and temperatures warm in July. The Nano Mosquito Netting was effective keeping insects away and allowed me to stay cool. There are several similar products to choose from on the market.. I chose the Nano because I am a pack weight conscious hiker. The Nano net tips the scales at 80g, (< 3 ounces), while similar products are easily 300g or more. I thought the extra cost versus reduce weight a reasonable tradeoff. One suggestion for users keeping the netting from collapsing on their head and shoulders is to braced the netting with a hiking pole laid inside the netting, on the ground, at their head.
Bought this for keeping the bugs away while sleeping in a bivy. The insect shield did not seem to immediately "repel" bugs, like OFF does. But the ants that crawled on it soon started grooming themselves and then either crawled off or died. I used a piece of Tyvek under me, since the screen does not go underneath you. I sprayed the tyvek with a permethrin clothing treatment spray. Not that I'm afraid of a few bugs, but if I can do without, why not... The area that we backpacked into (Red River Gorge, KY) had a bunch of noseeums. Although they were bad during the day, I did not have any issues while under the netting, into the evening and the next morning. The Nano met my expectations by keeping the bugs at bay while being super lightweight. It appears to be made from quality material and the workmanship is very good. A few other comments - The netting material will snag-on a sharp edge, like a zipper, stick or such, so you need to be careful of that. I'm 5'9" and found that I needed to sleep, corner-to-corner, in order to keep the netting away from touching the top of my head. It was a bit of a challenge to get in and out by sliding under the side. Perhaps an improvement could be to add an entrance along the top, front, long, arch area. No velcro or zipper. Just an overlap of netting material that will fold close after you pass thru...
Weighs 137 grams with the bag and spreader bar all together. If you just bring along the nano net it’s 103 grams. Very light and compacts down into a large grapefruit size. The spreader bar gives just enough space that you can sit inside with one person and not touch the walls. The elastic draw cord can be cinched from both ends so that even with a single regular size mat, the sides can be pulled underneath you. It is very minimal for two people but gets the job done. I mostly plan to use it solo. I would only recommend the solo version for those looking for the tiniest net that you can’t even really sit up in. The two person version is the way to go if you desire any space at all. The mesh is fine but not small enough for no-seeums.
