First off this external HD is easy to use like most other external HD's, simple as plugging it in via USB 3.2. Due to its awesomely large storage capacity, it has a nice weight to it which is good so it doesn't feel like it's going to slide off or fall over. My absolute favorite feature about this product aside from the large storage space is the lights! This drive is definitely marketed towards gamers which is very much appreciated. The RGB LED lightning looks incredible, really love that it's Razer Chroma RGB compatible. I use this with my PS5 and my entertainment center has never looked so cool. ... MoreLove this thing! Essential for Legacy Games on XBox

Love this drive. It's plenty big enough for all my legacy games and it's hard to distinguish between this external and the internal drive speeds. It's very easy to setup and use and the green accent light is a nice touch. It matches the colors of my other accessories perfectly. My only gripe about this drive is I wish the cable was longer so I could locate the drive differently in my setup but that's minor. Buyers need to be aware you can not load next gen games to this drive (yet?).

I have purchased a few other hard drives from Seagate and they gave me no issues. It's a brand that I like and trust. I have one that I bought in 2010 and I still use it today. I connected the Firecuda to my laptop and I didn't run into any issues. I then tried an additional laptop and it connected just fine. I like the sleek design of this gaming hub external hard drive. It's very quiet and the light isn't really a distraction. I like how it pulses. I haven't tried to change the color of the light so I can't say how easy that is. Registering the hard drive was very simple and quick.I can confirm that this does not work with playstation consoles so do not purchase this if you are trying to use it as extend storage. It even works with my iPad Pro.

Got a lotta games? Get it!
24 June 2022

I love it. I bought several smaller hard drives before getting 2 of these seagate game drive hubs. Anyone with over 100 games should get one. Plenty of storage. I have over 200 games on mine and they are about half full. I especially love the fact that it's a hub also. I can plug in my ssd and not use another port on my xbox series x/s. The transfer speeds are faster than I thought it would be. Not ssd fast, but faster than I thought. My only complaint about it is the green light. While it looks great, you can't turn it off. Other than that, it fixes all my xbox storage needs

Great portable storage for the money!

So first, this drive is geared toward portability and not top-end performance as most would want these days. When I say portability that goes toward travel not only in the states but around the world. It comes with 6 power adapter-style plugs so you can change out depending on where you are in the world. Not only that but it also serves as a quick USB hub so you can use different peripherals through the USB 3.0 connection the drive uses on your system. It does have flashy RGB LEDs and you can change the colors or patterns on through the software downloaded to manage the drive. The software allows you to backup, restore, or mirror your data files. Pros: 4TB HDD built-in, an NVMe slot that runs quick (1500 Read, 2400 write), good cooling, a Thunderbolt pass-through, USB ports galore, and a Displayport. This thing has all of the ports, bells, and whistles you could want in a hub. Cons: Very noisy. The unit can run hot, and there is no way to control the built-in fans. The HDD is also very loud. In MacOS, you can somewhat mitigate this by unmounting the drive. I also ran into various errors and kernel-panics that would pop up while the hub was connected. USB devices also acted finicky -- for example, my Corsair mechanical keyboard and M65 mouse would not work correctly when connected to my Sabrent USB 3 Hub (which was then connected to the FireCuda). Also, the audio interface I used with the Thunderbolt pass-through had MAJOR issues during a recording session and had to be rebooted to work correctly. Again, I've never ran into these issues with my other hubs I've used in the past. In theory, it's a fantastic hub. But it's not the best in practice. Maybe those who are using Intel Macs or Windows will have a different experience, but for power-users on Apple Silicon -- I'd get a more reliable hub like the Caldigit TS3 Plus.

If you have a lot of Xbox One, 360, Digital Games (like I do) & you would also like some extra storage space for Series X games, then this drive will work well for you. Transferring Series X games to and from the Drive to NVME Storage is also very quick so it's a breeze to transfer games back and forth. I personally bought a 1TB Seagate NVME SSD Card and this 8TB Hard Drive for my Series X. So I have 2TB of NVME Storage & 8TB of regular storage and even with 2TB, My NVME storage is completely full, so the 8TB really comes in handy to store extra games. Now, I have over 300 games allocated on my storage, so I know not everyone will need that much storage, but if you have a lot of games or intend to have a lot of games, this drive could definitely save you some money on storage rather than buying the more Expensive Seagate 2TB NVME SSD Card which is 400 dollars or something ridiculous.PROS (Why you should buy it)1. You have or intend to have a lot of games (Xbox 360, Xbox One, Digital, Xbox Series X) You can play any of the 360/One/Digital games off of the hard drive except Series X / Series X Enhanced games.2. Transferring is quick and easy. Since it plays Xbox One, 360 & digital games off the drive. The only game files you ever need to transfer are Series X games which have a real quick transfer time.3. You're just buying the console & you don't want to fork over the $$$ for a Seagate NVME SSD Card just yet, BUT you still want extra storage space for games. If you don't care about the transferring of Series X games back and forth and you just want a bunch of extra storage, You can't go wrong here.4. You could buy a Seagate 1 TB NVME SSD Card and this Seagate 8TB 3.2 Gen Hard Drive and still spend a ton less money than buying the 2TB Seagate NVME Card. And you'd have 10TB of storage (2TB NVME & 8TB Regular). That's what I decided to do and I'm pretty happy with that decision.CONS (Why you shouldn't buy)1. You're expecting to store and play Series X games off this Hard Drive. It will not play Series X games off the drive, you need NVME storage for that.2. It comes with a AC power adapter, so it always needs to be plugged into an outlet AND the Xbox itself (through USB). This may be an annoyance or even a deal breaker for some. I know a friend who just bought two 4TB External USB Drives instead of this Hard Drive because he hated that it had to be plugged into the wall.3. It's louder than External USB drives. You will hear the Hard Drive processing & moving data, it is noticeably louder than smaller External USB Drives. If you think you would be annoyed by sounds coming from the drive, probably not gonna be for you. An external 4TB drive might be a better bet, they are quieter. That's all I got.

Really depends on how you look at it ...

People are complaining and giving this product a 1 star because it doesn't run optimized games on it lol that gave me a chuckle. For anyone who doesn't know, let me help to better understand: Series S/ X run off of a high speed internal SSD which is the only reason why our games can boot up as quick as they can (if anyone remembers how long it took with the Xbox One, that was all because it ran off of a regular hard drive and not a SSD. These new games that are coming out are purposely being made with the SSD in mind to be able to quick resume back where you left off, or load a sandbox map at 3X the speed of last generation. Because of all of this, yes you CANNOT run your optimized games DIRECTLY off of the external memory, but instead will need to transfer them to ... MorePeople are complaining and giving this product a 1 star because it doesn't run optimized games on it lol that gave me a chuckle. These new games that are coming out are purposely being made with the SSD in mind to be able to quick resume back where you left off, or load a sandbox map at 3X the speed of last generation. Because of all of this, yes you CANNOT run your optimized games DIRECTLY off of the external memory, but instead will need to transfer them to your internal SSD to play them. It's quite funny to hear people saying that re-downloading them is the same thing, it certainly is not LOL and I even have 700MB/s download speed and it would still take significantly longer to redownload the game. With this external drive, the transfer process to move a game from your internal SSD and put a new one in takes no more than 5 min sometimes even less. My AAA games take 15-20 min to download at minimum even with high speed internet. So yes I would say that this external hard drive is well worth it. For the price, you're getting 3 more TB than the 1 TB series X External SSD that is significantly more expensive. So it really comes down to what you want - do you want A LOT more storage at the cost of waiting about 5 minutes to transfer a game over, or LESS storage and MORE expensive but with that sacrifice you can run games directly off of the external SSD. I have both and personally they each serve their own purpose, I put a mass amount of Xbox One games on this External SSD and leave it unplugged, and I have my Series X 1 TB SSD plugged into the back for being able to play games quickly on the go. They're both great and serve their own purposes. It's just a matter of what you specifically want, but no this product is far from being bad, it's actually the opposite considering you're getting 4 TB for such a low price.
