I would blame loose wording on the box that lead me to believe I could play games directly from the drive, but it’s my fault for not doing more research. To clarify: This will store your ps5 games but in order to play them you will have to copy them back to your main console storage. I suppose the benefit is that copying the game back is quicker than redownloading it.

It worked okay the first two days of trying to use it and then it randomly started beeping, wouldnt register on my PlayStation and eventually wouldnt even light up. All it did was sit on my shelf with the console so i dont know what happened. Im not saying its a bad product because i probably just got a bad batch but i never had time to return it or exchange it so i pretty much wasted 80-90 bucks… would recommend if it didnt die.

When I first researched I was confused because some reviews were saying that it doesn’t work for PS5. It does work for both ps4 and ps5. The ps4 games you have on your ps5 system will automatically load to the drive and you can play them from the drive. Your ps5 games will not automatically load to the drive and you cannot play them from the drive. For ps5 games you have to manually go to the storage and find the game in the console, select the game and choose to move the game to the drive. It will transfer the game to the drive and remove it from the console. When you want to play that game you have to transfer from drive back to console. I’m satisfied with my purchase and I own only a PS5.

bought this hdd thinking i could install ps5 games and data directly from disc insert, but it will only do it for ps4 titles. ps5 games install directly to console storage, then you have to transfer it manually to your HDD, but you cannot play it directly from HDD (only works for ps4). unfortunate, but if you're looking to make space on your ps5, then this hard drive is perfect for the storage. but if you think of playing those games again, you'll have to transfer it back to the ps5 console to play.
This is supposed to be for PS5…the cable whoch came with it would not plug into my brand new PS5. I had to use my old hard drive cable. It kept giving errors and my PS5 would not recognize it to copy my games to it. I had to figure out and different way to get my games on the drive. Very disappointed with this hard drive!!!

This is a really good hard drive with a hefty amount of storage. My only issue is that I have to copy the game from the hard drive first. I don’t know if that’s how most hard drives work but i was hoping to just be able to play directly from the hard drive. other than that this is a really useful product
Its a great product. I dont have to worry about losing any saved data in any of my games. Onky problem is how long it takes to transfer between consle and drive, which I assume is normal. Aside from that, I have no problems. Great purchase that I recommend if you think the console’s space is too little.
