Got two for a NAS, rock solid for about 7 months. A wee bit disappointed though since I've had non NAS drives last a lot longer in a similar setting.

I ran this drive in my main desktop for a few weeks, where it saw duty storing and moving a couple hundred GB of photos and music. My xbox one soon filled up (4 games fills up a 500 GB drive!) so I bought a cheap enclosure and have this drive hooked up to the xbox via USB 3.0. Once formatted correctly, the console picked it up and had no problems reading or writing to it. As I mentioned above, outside of super fast drives or ones that die, there is rarely much to say about them. Seagate has a long history of building good drives, and while I fail to see the need for 20 different lines of drives for different uses (server, video security, etc) if it works, it works.
When connected to an Orico dock, Windows 10 immediately recognized the drive needed partitioning and popped up the prep screen. Then through disk management it formatted in 6 seconds! So the drive was ready to go in less than a minute. Seagate has incorporated several vibration dampening technologies, including "remote vibration sensors," "dual-plane balancing" (offset weights placed on top and bottom or rotor plates), and built-in error recovery. Accordingly there is only the slightest “hum” when holding your palm on top of the drive. When moving a large mix of files (over 60GB) to it, it quickly reached and sustained over 28MB/s transfer rate (likely helped by the 64MB cache) and finished in about 20 minutes. It should perform admirably in a RAID drive for multiple users. But before giving 5 stars to any drive, I would really need to see how it performs in 3-5 years! But the 3-year warranty shows some confidence.
There was some configuration issues with the NAS and the hard drive took awhile to integrate with the other NAS hdds in the QNAP and threw up errors with configuration and took awhile to diagnose and resync with other 3 non Seagate hdds in the QNAP and kept throwing up errors eventually it turned out to be self inflicted as there was a setting that needed to be switched off and is now working.
Rather than copy and paste all the results from my testing I will simply say that the specs that Seagate lists on this drive are within a reasonable approximation of the data that I acquired during my testing. Placed this drive into my RAID array and it went to work without any trouble or further intervention from me. Once in the Raid case it is virtually silent, no more noisy than any of the other drives that turn at 5900 R's . I have always purchased the Seagate Surveillance grade HDD's to use in my HTPC system arrays and they have always worked well for me and I have had some in use for more than 5 years now. Time will only tell how the IRONWOLF holds up, hence I dropped the 5th egg. I will say that it has to be proven to earn that last egg. - There are two separate IronWolf drive choices: the 5900 RPM from 1TB to 4TB in 1TB increments and the 7200 RPM models that go up from 6TB to 10TB in 2TB increments. nothing special, purchased to replace a failing unit, arrived late and the box was a little worse for wear (not newegg fault obviously). installed and working so far. my first ironwolf. so far would purchase again. I'll update if something changes.
