I am disappointed that after all the computer data is placed in the back up disc, it is very difficult to retrieve specific items. There was NO brochure explaining anything accompanying the hard drive. I do not like to hunt and peck for things I would like the system explained on how it is shown so that I can easily find what I want. I have no idea how the data has been categorized nor is there any instruction on how to find it.This product assumes that the customer is a computer geek.I am especially disappointed because one of the primary reasons I purchased this item is for my photo collection. I wanted to be able to organize my photos and eliminate duplicates. I do not know how to separate the photos from everything else to do this. This item was expensive as well.

After three weeks, this 2TB Seagate STHN-series Slim drive is doing what it's supposed to do as a Macintosh "Time Machine" repository for my 3-computer network. When received, I reformatted it as a single HFS+ partition using OS 10.12.6's Disk Utility without any issues. The initial network backups went as expected -- it took Time Machine around 3 hours to transfer a 300GB volume of mostly small files over gigabit ethernet. Time Machine's hourly updates from all Macs are also running as-expected, completing themselves in just a minute or two. This newer 2TB Seagate drive is very quiet, quieter than my earlier 2TB Slim models. Its case warms to above 40 degrees C only when it's taxed by extended reads/writes.Durability? Let's give it a year and see how it's doing ... Not just your straight forward plug and play. First time use, I haf pop ups galore. Trying to get me to sign up for all kinds of other software. Can't use this HD on my Q90 Samsung TV. For movies. Memory is to big. Not the best choice for me.

I've been using this for just a month now, trying to transfer all my data from other external storage devices and my laptop and this thing was supposed to be my "backup" to my harddrive on my desktop and I went to use it tonight and find that it HAS LOST DATA! I had a file that was "music" and the AC/DC folder is GONE. The drive itself said that my "music" folder was corrupt TWICE and I had to "fix" it. I am completely upset by this since I have moved music folders off of an old My Book drive. I hope to return this to Staples and upgrade to a better external storage. Meanwhile, it's almost midnight and I'm transferring EVERYTHING off of this thing to discuss it tomorrow at the store. I don't trust this and hopefully I haven't lost anything out of my "photos" folder. ... I don’t know enough to say if it’s even working or not. I bought this item because I want see the outside image of the Arlo camera posted outside my house. They send you emails with directions to upgrade your system in the app. If you don’t upgrade through the app you may not get a security protection included in the download. The device I bought was supposed to allow me to view without paying the fee to Arlo however there are some missing pieces to the puzzle unless you are technically advanced. It’s on the app from Arlo.
A lot of trouble getting it to work with windows 11! It was refusing to download and open the toolbox software. I found out that you can do it by changing some settings in the control panel. The drive, I found out after getting it installed, only backs up personal files from six named directories. It does not do any system files.
First unit purchased was dead on arrival. Detailed and time consuming investigations reported hardware failure.Returned next day for another unit. This one operated as expected. The return / exchange process was smooth and simple (other than the need to make a special drive to town)!
This is my second Seagate 2T hard drive. Needed second one for my laptop. First one saved my computer life when my computer completely froze and I had to replace the complete operating system. I never want to use a computer that doesn't have an external backup system. If I had not had this hard drive, Should I had to erase all of my desktop computer hard drive to restore an operating system, I would have lost a lifetime of writings, pictures, etc. DO NOT SAVE YOUR CRITICAL INFORMATION ON THE HARD DRIVE WHERE YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM FUNCTIONS (not even in a separate partition). Also, if your computer lets you back up to an earlier version of an operating system (Windows 10 froze but computer was bought with Windows 7 and I could backup to it without completely erasing hard drive prior to the installation), your system on the reinstall of an earlier version of operating system will erase all files on hard drive not associated with the operating system. Thus, you must have a backup system NOT ON YOUR INTERNAL HARD DRIVE.
I had a little trouble registering it because their website was giving me trouble. I emailed them and we straightened it out. I'm taking lots of photos from my other hard drive (HP) and putting them on this hard drive. That part is easy. What I'm disappointed with, is the fact that if I try to work on the photo while on the One Touch hard drive, to enhance, etc with my photo software, it takes forever to "save" the edited photo on the One Touch Drive. So I have been editing it on the HP Drive and THEN sending it over to the One Touch Drive.
This product worked well until Microsoft OS decided to force an upgrade to their cloud. Now nothing works including this drive. It goes to the cloud. This effects the screen background (it goes to the cloud) the typical way you would upgrade (this goes to the cloud , not the way you would normally not do this) etc. I'm very, very unsatisfied with this drive. It's very unsatisfying that I'm forced to upgrade and not allowed to go back! I'm very unsatisfied with this purchase and I'm returning it. Seagate ALWAYS worked for me! Now I'm forced to go backward, so is everyone else who has purchased any kind of drive or upgrade! Anyone who has purchased a drive should sue!
