I already had the beloved Blumo and of course an SKX but I wanted this Samurai after watching Marc's video review of the new line. While I'm not certain I love it more than the Blumo, it's definitely a substantial watch for the money. Good heft, solid build, beautiful shape and that lume - to die for. If you can't decide between the Sumo or the Samurai, get both. You're still spending a fraction of Swiss brands and getting amazing horological precision. Thanks to Marc and the gang for fast shipment. I was on the waiting list for maybe a week, got the word the watch arrived, ordered and it was in my hands in less than a week. :)

I really like everything about this watch. I chose the black dial with black and silver bezel. This particular color scheme looks really sharp. The lume is extremely lumie. The dial has a nice waffle texture and apparently I have wrists like a silver back gorilla but the watch is a nice size for me. I've really become a fan of the Seiko divers. I own several and I'm very happy to add this one to the collection

I had read some poor reviews about the 'Samurai' watches, but knowing Seiko's history and reputation I chose to ignore them.After six weeks of wearing the watch it had lost two minutes. I understaood that this was not unusual for an automatic watch. I adjusted it, but overnight it stopped and lost six hours.I reset the time and the next night it lost just over two hours.I returned it to John Lewis today, but it needs to be sent away. I was informed that this could take five to six weeks, longer than I have actually used it!Although it is a 'divers' watch it hasn't been in the water, nor have I dropped it or damaged it in any way. I await the outcome, but am disappointed with Seiko's quality control.
The new Samurai combines a lot of features from Seiko's dive watch heritage in a retro yet new and attractive design. Although quite large dimensionally it sits well on the wrist. The waffle face is nicely detailed with minute, second and fifth of a second markers. By re-using very similar hands to the Seiko 'Monster' dive watch and very large and clear polished edged and lumed indices the lume is great.The aluminum bezel is nicely presented with a gray section between 0 and 15 minutes followed by the more typical solid background with 20 minute to 50 minute numeral numbering, while the sides match the winder with a cross-hatch design. Recently received the Seiko Samurai (black with steel bracelet) from First Class Watches. So - it feels positive on the wrist and extremely comfortable to wear. It is quality from the face detailing to the click of the bezel. A classic look that is bang up-to-date and on-point for wearing either as a day piece or dressed with dinner suit and bow tie.It is astonishing value for money. It feels as well designed and made as a watch 10 or 20 times its cost (a glance at it is reminiscent of a certain brands Submariner).If your in the market for a go-to and do-it-all timepiece that is happy in the surf or if you are at dinner eating surf and turf then look no further. First Class Watches did a great deal and it came the day after I ordered it.Highly recommend.
Ultimately a bit disappointing.Ordered the seiko samurai on 05/01, came the next day (which is great) but had dinks and marks on the inner bezel. Spoke to Emma who was incredibly helpful and quick at replying who sorted out and exchange.This arrived 11/01 and for the most part is perfect apart from a slight scratch/mark on the watch face which I noticed a day after! Whilst this is a minor mark it’s still disappointing to receive two imperfect products.Would have asked for another exchange but simply cannot be bothered to send it back again.The only thing stopping me from giving 1 star is the service I received from Emma which was second to none.
Have had my Seiko Samurai for a few days now and it is quite a timepiece. It has gained 6 seconds over the course of 3 days, so +2 sec/day. Bezel is tight and has great movement. Dial is unique. Setting the time/date is pretty straightforward. Was only disappointed when a pin on the clasp fell out right away, but LIW was immediately responsive with great customer service so I had replacement pins the next morning and it's been perfect since. This is my first automatic watch and I'm really glad of this purchase. I would buy again from LIW and so far, am really please with this Seiko.
