The bundle of the Sennheiser e 835 + Stand + XLR Cable turned out to be a great purchase. The microphone has a solid feel and sounds great. The Samson mic stand is well-built and solid. I needed the XLR cable, so the inclusion in the bundle was a great addition. All items were well packaged and arrived one day ahead of schedule. I recommend this bundle if you need a basic microphone for live performance purposes.

I have been a professional vocalist/entertainer for over 30+ years, and have performed with many different brands of microphones. The e835 has got to be one of the best sounding microphones I have ever used. It delivers a clean, crisp sound ... and will enhance your vocal quality. In my opinion, this microphone surpasses the legendary and popular SM58 , for live vocal performances ... hands down! If you like the SM58, you're gonna LOVE the Senn e835!!! It's now my favorite go to mic. This mic will not disappoint!!

Better than the Shure SM58 all around GREAT mic for the price.

This Mic is AWESOME, I have been a long time user of the Shure SM58, but looking to add some mics to our platform for our worship team the Salesman suggested the Sennheiser E835 in place of the Shure SM58. I was skeptical at first but after our first Worship practice and service using these Mics, I,m sold 100%. I will be buying more of these in the future. You can't go wrong with them. Dynamics of these mics are actually better than the Shure SM58 and for the price they can't be beat. Watch out Shure you've got some heavy hitting competition! I'll keep the Sm58s as backups but the Sennheiser E835 is now our main go to mic for our vocals.

Crisp and powerful!
7 August 2012

Sound:The sound quality is supurb in my view! Crisp, clear with good bottom end. This beats other mics (Shure 58's, Berringer H1000, and even a higher dollar BLUE enCORE 200, altho that one is close) and I believe will by my main on stage mic from now on. I do solo and Band gigs and it is perfect for both! Mainly Blues and a spattering of a few other styles get the thumbs up with this fine piece as far as sound quality goes!Features:This mic has only one thing I do not care for and that being the lack of an on/off switch. I know the e835 S has the switch, but this gift mic does not and that is something I miss. It is sturdy buit and the construction means a lot of years usage with little to no repairs. The lack of an on/off switch will add to that as well, so it ... MoreSound:The sound quality is supurb in my view! Crisp, clear with good bottom end. The lack of an on/off switch will add to that as well, so it is kind of a toss up on the switch being a negative point.Ease of Use:Took it from the box, plugged uit in, set all eq parameters to mid and BOOM, there it was. GREAT sounds. I later tweaked them a little just to see, and a little added bass and a shade off the highs and it still sounds crisp on the hsighs and has a bigger bottom sound! easy to adjust on the EuroPower PMP2000 head I used.Quality:Solid as a rock. Having never abused a Shure 58 I cannot compare it, but I suspect it might be JUST as hardy in the contruction! Great solid feel to it.Value:I got this one as a gift, but $99.00 sounds like a bargain for the quality of this mic! It shows as good of sound quality as the BLUE enCORE 200 that sells for $50.00 more!Manufacturer Support:Have not dealt with Sennheiser, and due to the quality of the product, I may never have to contact them. The only reason I might would be to say "Thanks."The Wow Factor:The real WOW! factor is in the sound. It has a certain strong appearence that appeals, but the sound is what makes me say "WOW!"Overall:I received 2 microphones as a gift today from a friend. A BLUE enCORE 200 and this Sennheiser e835. Both have good points, but this 835 has a good bass and the crispest edge. I have used many different mics over the years and Shure 58's and the Berringer H1000 I have used do not even come close to the sound of this fine beast! This will be the mic for stage use, and while doing solo gigs I might even use it to mic an acoustic and use the BLUE for vocals. They are close to exchangeable with the 835 set dead center through a PMP2000 head the sound is perfect with my voice! To get the exact same setting I have to turn the high's up and add a little bass to the BLUE, then they both sound identical...almost. Still the 835 seems crisper with good bass. I have not spent time trying to increase the 835's bass and mids to see what happens, but I suspect it will be VERY good!I would use only this kind of mic if I were starting over with sound equipment. It is THAT good. I suspect some of the reviews are less than spectacular for this item as they were run through a lesser PA set-up. The Berringer PMP2000 is a good head and great for the money. Paired with a set of 3 or 4 Senn e835 I would not be afraid to take to the stage and rock it out all night long! Thanks Sennheiser, you have made a Monster of a mic!

First time away from shure
7 November 2019

I bought this because of the reviews I read describing it as good for lower voices. I've played a couple gihs with it now and the sound quality is super clear and catches all my dynamics and articulations.I do see how its more prone to feedback than a beta58, and it definitely sounds differen. The e835 has a more open sound where as the shure products I've used seem to "punch through" better. My gigging situations have relatively low stage volume (IEMs, mic-ed amps, DIs). If i was on a very loud stage I would maybe consider something else, but overall I would recomend this mic to anyone

Reliable and high quality for the price
13 December 2016

I've been singing/screaming for over 10 years now and the quality of this mic is amazing. With many mics I've had in the past I had to pull the mic so far away from my mouth when doing a loud projected scream it was frustrating. With this microphone I can go from singing at a near whisper to pulling it slightly back and letting out a loud projected scream without any distortion. I've had mine now for about three years and I'll probably never switch back to Shure due this mics capabilities for screaming. I recently picked up an e935 and my guitarist is now using this. The durability is no joke either, I've accidentally dropped this mic when setting up for gigs too many times to count, and besides some scratches, this mic still sounds as good as the day i bought it.

Sennheiser e835, one of the best dynamic mics for live performance around.
31 August 2015

The Sennheiser E835 has been my go to Mic for as long as it has been on the market. When you buy a microphone what you are buying, and what should be your main concern is the frequency response. Since 1966 the Shure SM58 (the most obvious comparison) has been the work horse of dynamic microphones and a perfectly fine choice for all kinds of professional settings, mainly because they are practically indestructible. But for pure quality, sensitivity and frequency response, the E835 has the Shure SM58 beat all the way around. Compared side by side you'll find that the SM58 has a bassier response which can sound rather muffled when compared with the same eq settings. The E835 has a clearer and more well defined sound and if you've heard that they're better suited for the female voice, this is absolutely correct. There is no question that Shure Bros. has carved the path and set the standard for all professional dynamic microphones, but with competition and Sennheiser's superior technology (one of the best makers of all microphones, try the 421 for an amazing number of applications from voice to guitar amps to drums, toms in particular), for price, value and quality you won't find a better mic for the live vocalist. This is a great deal!!! Why? Read... lol
10 August 2019

I'm writing this because as crunchguy stated, the 1 Star is totally not accurate. There's an adapter inside, take it out. But seriously, I've bought this combo in August 2013, I'm writing this in August 2019, have used my mic very frequently for 100's of shows, and guess what???? I still use it and it sounds as good as the day I bought it. I've been waiting to get the e935 but if it ain't broke, why fix it!!! The stand I no longer have, but the mic is the focal point of this deal... I love it!!! At first, the fact that it doesn't have an on/off switch kinna was gonna be a deal break, however when set up properly , you get no feedback or buzz or white noise, it's a great mic. Just saying. Lol. Keep on rocking!!! SAS!!!

Very good sound for a good price
8 November 2014

I'm using this microphone to record my voice for audio lectures. I'm doing the recording at my desk in my office, which is why I selected a dynamic mic rather than a condenser (to reject ambient noises). The recordings sound great and very clear. I think it reproduces my voice very accurately, or at least it does so better than some less expensive lavalier condenser mics I've used in the past. For those looking to do something similar, I'm using the Zoom H5 as an audio interface running directly into my computer on USB bus power (no batteries or SD card needed). The H5 preamps are strong enough for this mic, even though it's dynamic. The results sound very good to my ear. I am very happy with this mic.

Wonderful Mike

A lot of reviews said that the Sennheiser e835 was a definite step up from a Shure SM58, and that it even made some think they'd taken singing lessons. I have been using the e835 for several weeks and can confirm that it's pretty awesome for my voice and it's stepped-up my game. Very clear. I did buy a foam windscreen and that made it even better, removing "plosives" that can ruin a great recording. I want to emphasize that while most people lean toward condenser microphones for recording, the e835, with a windscreen, will sound like you bought a very pricey condenser microphone on vocals. One of my best gear purchases.
