I’ve been a fan of Shark corded uprights since the original Rotator, but the previous Shark Cordless vacs that I've tried have been good at best and I even returned two models after one use due to poor performance on carpet.This one is a game changer with the power that has been missing both on carpet as well as straight suction dusting. When you add in the self-emptying dock, this is an amazing vacuum.On carpet, the immediate power increase is instantly obvious and unlike previous models that seemed to float on the top of the surface of the carpet, you feel this one digging into the carpet, agitating it (I can feel the vibration and power in my feet) and lifting the pile. The dirt detect suction increases are spot on in the expected areas where the cat lays or heavy traffic areas as well as sometimes in unexpected areas and they clearly add to the performance.In Hand Vac mode this is light to carry as opposed to competitor models; The attachments are decent for dusting or upholstery. They are nothing special but, Shark has previously omitted either dusting or upholstery in their attachment offering, and both are handled here. I wish there was a powered upholstery tool as the closest competitor provides and I continue to ask for a small, attachable hose that makes cleaning in tight areas such as the car, much easier. I am pleasantly surprised with the straight suction dusting suction of this model and the power does increase when dirt is detected. Even without that, the base suction on the dusting mode is very good.Minor cons are that the carpet nozzle width is small which can be a pro in tight areas or a con when vacuuming a large room. You can't charge this on the dock unless the entire wand is attached (Carpet nozzle is not needed but it won't charge only in handheld mode.) There is no tool holder on the wand, so they have to be hand carried. I mentioned above that there is no powered hand tool or hose but at this price point I am pleased with what I have.I really like that I can use a very effective, powerful, light and battery efficient vacuum in my entire home and I love the power with no cord. This has many bells and whistles that I didn't even touch upon as I wanted to focus on base vacuum performance which I love. Those additional features only sweeten the user experience when using this.

The stated run time is up to 70 minutes due to the built-in power management that adjusts the power for the task. The top portion of the unit has an LED display that shows the battery status, which cleaning mode has been selected by the trigger (ECO, Detect, or Boost), and the out ring changes color based on whether or not dirt has been detected, is being cleaned or indicates when the floor/carpet is clean. The vacuum comes with an articulating extension wand that can lock in many positions to facilitate cleaning and you can attach the combo duster/crevice tool or pet/multi-tool to it or directly to the power portion. When placed in the included charging rack, the vacuum will automatically empty into a sealed storage bin that also has a replaceable odor-neutralizing insert. This is done by a suction mechanism in the storage unit that empties the dust bin which has been great considering everyone in our house has dust allergies and we’ve noticed a big difference. The emptying process takes less than a minute but It’s a bit noisy. There is a quiet mode where you can turn off this feature until it is needed. Once the base storage is full it easily removes for emptying. The vacuum has a 5-year warranty for peace of mind, but in my experience, I’ve never had a Shark product fail. So we have a cordless vacuum with performance that is on par or exceeds my older corded model, that cleans the house and the built-in dust bin helps keep it clean, and is lightweight and stores easily!

The vaccum has great suction power, I have long hair that sheds, I like snacks that tend to leave crumbs, and I track dust and dirt from my work boots, the Shark picked it all up from my carpet, large area rugs, and hard floor perfectly. The main head and neck has a flexible angle joint in the center that makes it easier for vacuuming under tables and furniture without having to crane down or crouch just to reach a few inches under these peices. The collection bin is most likely gonna be the reason you're looking at this vaccum and its a good feature. The main collection bin lets you empty the vaccum's collection cansiter mulitple times before having to dump the main bin and the main collection bin has a scented air freshener pod that covers odors and allergens from debris collected so you won't smell the odors collected. My favorite feature of the Shark Powerdetect is that the main vaccum is detachable and comes with a crevice nozzle and soft brush head nozzle. These extra accessories and functionality arent just great for my home cleaning purpose but also excellent for cleaning out my car's interior, so its multifunctional. It looks good too its modern without sacrificing power or function. I would absolutely recommend the Shark Powerdetect vacuum for your home.
