Flatbed is a nice upgrade. No rickety turntable, you can look at the foot closely as it heats up, since it's not moving. The bright while lighting and the finer mesh grill on the door also helps see the food a bit better than a regular microwave. Easy to clean the surface, although not as easy as popping the turntable into the dishwasher. But unlike with a turntable, there doesn't seem to be a lot of accumulation of moisture that condenses into a pool under the turntable, rather it seems this microwave is better ventilated and there's only a small amount of condensation on the inner walls when heating something moist. The controls are easy to use, albeit the beeping sound is quite loud when pressing buttons which can be a bit jarring. It's very spacious inside, and ... MoreFlatbed is a nice upgrade. It's very spacious inside, and since nothing has to turn, you can use the entire space up to the edge. The inverter is great when you don't need the full 1200W, which might cause splatter with some food (e.g. pasta sauce), so it's nice to be able to set it to a lower level without the on-off-on-off of a regular microwave that will create splatter on the "on" phase. Lower heating levels also allow more evenly heated foods when they're thick or bulky. Though the inverter only goes down to a certain power level (haven't figured out exactly which yet), so the lowest power settings revert to a non-inverted on-off switching, which is a bit disappointing (though it's rare to use such low setting). Overall, this is an excellent product that I'd recommend to anyone looking for quality microwave oven.

After one month, this microwave works well, is easy to use and to clean. The flatbed design heats food as well as a turntable model, but is easier to clean. One warning is that if food boils over, the lack of a turntable means that the microwave will leak. The door release mechanism is a push button and not as easy to use as other models. However, the display is bright, clear, and easy to read and the controls are easy to learn. 1200W is quite powerful, and it heats food evenly. Time will tell how reliable it is, but at this point, I'm happy to recommend it. Value for money is average, as this was more expensive than equiavlent sized models.

Very happy with this microwave. I looked at many reviews and some were not great but I have had this a few weeks now and used it multiple times per day mainly for heating but cooked a chocolate self saucing pudding last night and it has been great. First time I have had a flatbed. I like the extra room and it heats things very well, bottom up. Took my brain a while to get used to it not spinning. Had an LG previously which did not heat anywhere near as well as this. The functions suit me well so far. I like that you can type in the exact time you want (LG had to turn dial multiple times or press add 30s several times, if you wanted to set say 8 minutes it was very annoying). Very easy to clean also with no extra parts to clean with turntable etc. for conventional ... MoreVery happy with this microwave. Good flatbed microwave. Bought this to replace our Panasonic flatbed inverter microwave. The Sharp microwave seems better built in most regards but it doesn't really look like technology has moved on in the last few 7 or 8 years. I would have rated 5 stars but the buttons aren't very responsive and the usability isn't as intuitive as the Panasonic. There weren't many options for flatbed microwaves so we decided on the sharp due to availability or reviews and bought it online. The space available inside sacrifices width and length for height. So the 32L Sharp appears smaller than the 27L Panasonic. In terms of heating, the performance is very good and much better than our previous unit. I would seriously consider the other flatbed microwave brand/s first before ... MoreGood flatbed microwave. Bought this to replace our Panasonic flatbed inverter microwave. The flat bed is a sight to behold. Every microwave I have owned has had a turntable inside and I had to be careful with loading and unloading the food especially if it had handles. Not the case anymore. The container comes out the same way it went in. No more whirring sounds of the turntable going round and round. The space inside is roomier too and gives the impression that my 32L model is much bigger. In fact I would have got the smaller one if one existed. Fairly priced and not much more expensive than similar sized turntable models. Fuss free keypad layout by Sharp and a smart clean design.
My first flatbed stopped working recently after 7 years hard working. An expert found a part called magnetron gone broken and the cost for repair around $200 so buying a new one is a better option. With 7 years experience I found the Sharp SM327FHS is a good choice as the size and power is significantly bigger and the price is not much higher. I have used the machine for a week now and found it in average heats food half the time needed than before and much more evenly. The inner space is nearly a square cubic with two wave guiding side walls I guess this is how it can cook foods more quickly and evenly. It has a sense function capable of deciding when a dish is cooked which is new and interesting for me and will further explore later on. Overall I am very happy ... I liked the combination of a flatbed microwave with inverter technology, and I owned a flatbed Sharp 20 years ago which gave very good service. The new Sharp is powerful. It's 1200 watts but cooks really fast. I have to reduce cooking times by a third when it runs at full power. I have found that 500 watts for 5 minutes is a good starting point for many foods (bacon, sausages, hamburgers etc). Poached eggs 500 Watts for 3 minutes. It's a good idea to stir the food or rotate the dish halfway through cooking. Otherwise the food can be unevenly heated. The design of the microwave is still not much different to my old Sharp. Most microwaves will turn off the interior light after a few minutes if you leave the door open, but not the Sharp. Most microwaves have a touch ... Most microwaves will turn off the interior light after a few minutes if you leave the door open, but not the Sharp. Most microwaves have a touch control panel, but not the Sharp. It still has mechanical pushbuttons under a plastic overlay. The overlay "buttons" are bigger than the real buttons - if you push an overlay button off-centre, nothing happens, which is very irritating. It beeps loudly five times when cooking finishes - no fancy hip-happy tunes here. I actually prefer the beeps. The microwave's display does give you helpful guidance as you use it. It's like having a context-sensitive manual always available, and it is a wonderful feature! To me, a microvwave (or any cooker, for that matter) has only two settings - power and duration. All the fancy programmed features (reheat, soup, fish, delayed start etc) I never use, so I can't comment on these. If you're looking for bells and whistles, this isn't the microwave for you. If you want advanced technology together with a no-nonsense design, you should consider this unit. The lack of a turntable is a huge benefit.
I did a fair bit of research before I bought this flatbed microwave and Im glad I did. There is no plate taking up room in the microwave or clunking around when you turn it on. The microwave cooks evenly through your food, so that you dont have cold in the middle and hot on the edges. You dont need to stop and stir your food either. I have used the defrost setting and it really doesnt cook the outside and leave the middle frozen! I have also used the scrambled egg setting which produced lovely fluffy eggs. The fresh vegetable setting is a bit unreliable and I find it wants to cook vegetables for 5 mins longer than they need. Maybe the engineers like soggy vegetables Anyway I just need to keep an eye on the time if Im using that setting. The only other con I have ... The only other con I have come across is the protective rubber strips on the bottom of the flatbed which I wonder how they will fair when cleaning in the long term. Nevertheless the pros far far outweigh the cons and I highly recommend this microwave.
I was thrilled to purchase the Sharp flatbed to replace my 30 year old Sharp carousel 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately it hasn't lived up to expectations , mainly because the smart sensor cook menus for defrosting meat/chicken and cooking frozen/fresh vegetables have a weight range of between 0.5kg - 2kg for defrosting and 150g - 500g for vegetables. So unless you are cooking for a large family these options are totally useless as they overcook the vegetables or start cooking the meat or chicken when defrosting. The instruction manual tells you to revert to manual cooking if you are cooking outside that weight range, however when you refer to the manual cooking chart it gives times for 500g of vegetables, defrosting meat and chicken, so not very useful. .My old Carousel ... I cannot understand why they have reduced the weight range. On the positive side, the convience menu works well for beverage reheat and baked potato. I have not yet tried the other smart and convience functions. The flatbed looks good and is easy to clean. Would not recommend if you are looking for a microwave that has smart sensor cooking functions and cook or defrost less than 0.5kg of food at a time and cook small portions of vegetables.
I decided to replace my wonderful but very old Sharp Carousel Convection Microwave The new one was delivered promptly. However, the microwave turntable did not turn smoothly it had a slight but obvious jerk in the rotation. After following all I could to fix this, called and the item was replaced the next day ( great service Appliancesonline). The replacement is working as expected. I do find the decline in quality quite outstanding as the old models were made of superior quality materials and the reason still working after over 20 years. The convection aspect did not function properly after 15 years. All else did perfectly. I find this new model smaller than expected and the touchpad less sensitive to respond without firm pressing and the numerals not easily seen ... The finish timer bell is also very loud. I have yet to use the convection or the grill due to the concern spatters could be very hard to remove from the mirror finish interior. In all I do not feel confident this new model will offer long term use. Like some others, I think we could have kept our old faithful, for that was a technological master appliance. I use the microwave often daily.
