At last a real touring shoe

I've been looking for a cycling shoe with flat sole that easily slides into my toe-clip equipped pedals. I have wide feet (EE) and a Morton's neuroma which can be very painful with tight shoes. These fit just fine. They are quite comfortable to walk in too.The only negative thing is that in humid weather your feet may get a bit warm as the shoe is made of a durable material that doesn't breathe all that well. This is a quibble.I bought my first pair last summer from a local bike shop. I've worn that pair every day since. When I saw Backcountry stocked them, I bought a second pair.

Great flat pedal cycling shoes. Probably not the pinnacle, but definitely not at the low end. Stiffness is decent, grip is also decent, and breathability is also decent. I am very impressed with this cycling shoe brand overall. As I own two other models of their flat pedal cycling shoes.

They do everything I'd expect from a pair of mountain bike shoes. Dedicated flat shoes really help with grip. Sizing is pretty accurate, make sure to check the Shimano website for sizing guides. Honestly every brand interprets sizes differently, never just hope for your normal shoe size to be correct when buying shoes online.

Flat pedal shoes

Make sure to check the size chart as they come up small. I’m usually 39, size 40 was needed. Good grip on pedals for those that don’t like cleats. Felt comfortable.Fine for walking in, although wouldn’t want to do any great distance; cafe stops fine.

Great fit
29 April 2024

Im a wide 11us, and a plus size. Got a promotion online and I just grabbed the opportunity that's its on sale. I love shimano, Great traction, my foot never slid off my pedals and I ordered 46UK. Fits just right. If your an 11us it should be sitting between 45 to 46. Since, I have a wide foot, I got the 46 to be sure and voila! Feels like an 11.5US

Great fit amazing sale

They look better in the pictures than in person. They have what seems to be good protection around the ankle. Toe protection is thicker and heel is nice and protected. The rubber soles look great and grab my wood floor great. Most importantly they fit great. I bought a 41 and wear size 8 in most shoes and the 41 fit my wife feet great, just a tad tight like most new shoes fit me till they break in. Sale price is darn good too and something I could not pass up. I just need more grip and a dedicated riding shoe. I have not owned a riding shoe since the original 5 10 impact many many years ago. This will do the job nicely once they brake in.

My go to flat pedal shoes
29 October 2021

I have a wide foot and these are the only flat pedal MTB shoe that is actually shaped like a ?real?human foot. The toe box on these is wider than basically any other MTB flat pedal shoe on the market, believe me I tried them all on. Even Specialized highly praised 2FO roost. I wear a size 10 US in Chuck Taylors and got these in a size 45EU which is around a size 11 US. If you have a normal foot the sizing is probably dead on for you. These aren?t the stiffest shoe, but they aren?t soft by any means. The soles on mine are finally falling apart after two years of riding. The grip is great though no problems there. The shoes work great with my Kona Wah pedals and my Shimano XT wide pedals. They are definitely worth the coin I just wish there was more shoe options for ... MoreI have a wide foot and these are the only flat pedal MTB shoe that is actually shaped like a ?real?human foot. Please, someone make them wider!!!
26 May 2024

I can't really fault the shoe, but I had to send them back. I just have really wide feet in the toe box and these (like pretty much every other flat peddle shoe) smash my pinky toe. Maybe I could have gotten away with them in a size larger, but then I think they would have fit the arch and ball of my foot funny (*haha). Interestingly, my basic 510 freerides are more comfortable, in the same size, because they have more give and let my toes bleed over the sole a bit-still not great. The search for truly wide toe box flat pedal shoes continues (until I get fed up with the loss of circulation and just make my own.)

Very poor design
28 November 2023

I purchased these to replace my beloved Shimano AM 5 mtb shoes which lasted me over 6 years. Sadly these new shoes, although in a similar price range, don't in any way live up to the quality of my previous ones. The soles are far too thin and flexible and cause my foot arches to ache on longer rides. The treads comprise of a shallow circle pattern which give poor grip, particularly in the wet. The uppers are flimsy and give hardly any toe protection. Finally, (deep breath), the lacing system comprises of a naff elastic loop intended to keep your laces out of the way instead of a decent velcro strap. All in all not a good shoe for MTB.

Wide and cheap!
28 April 2024

These are nice shoes, the grip is similar to five ten, and the fit has more room in the toebox than the Five Ten. I wear a 3E and these actually fit. I went a 1/2 US size up as recommended. I like the understated looks too, although Five Ten has some really great options there. The front of the toe has better protection than Five Ten, so there's that.
