GRX - Another Quality Product from Shimano

Have Shimano on all my bikes. Decided to go with the new GRX on my gravel bike. Not a lot different than an XT derailleur. I am running the 2x10 GRX crankset with the GRX 2x11 front and rear derailleur and everything is working fine. I am also running a 42t rear XT cassette with no issues. Not sure I could run a bigger cassette unless I got a longer b screw. As it is now I have about 5 or 6 mm between the 43t cog and the derailleur jockey.

GRX - Ultimate Gravel and Cyclocross Derailleur

The Shimano GRX RD-RX 810 is an 11 speed, smooth/ snappy shifting, clutched rear derailleur - ideal for Gravel and Cyclocross. The New Shimano GRX line was tailor-made for this application and the cost line up of components is stretched out over the entire groupset; not just the controls or any particular component being hugely expensive. The quality for the "800" tier of GRX is similar to Ultegra; indeed, the GRX clutched derailleur takes heavily from the Ultegra tech that came before it. I am using the GRX RD-RX 810 on my (otherwise) Shimano 105 equipped cross bike and Its been solid and reliable. Would highly recommend,

Good product; competitive pricing; compatible

Good product; competitive pricing; compatible with Shimano Ultegra 6800 groupset.Box labelled wrongly - labelled RX812 for 42T.The clutch feature has reduced chain slap during bumpier rides but still not completely gone. Very tricky to get rear wheel off and on again.

Wanted to swap out 105 for the GRX RD for better handling off road. Swap out was pretty easy and works like a charm. No more chain slapping!

Grx-812 shadow plus 11s / 11-42
25 August 2020

At the beginning of the year I upgraded my gravel's brakes and drivetrain to Shimano GRX, it came from SRAM Apex single chainring. They installed a GRX-810 derailleur at the store, but lately I was having trouble engaging 11-42. By switching to GRX-812, this problem has disappeared. Very happy with the update.

The GRX rear derailleur is working fine and I'm actually running it with an 11-36 cassette.I'd suggest that rear wheel removal/replacement is a lot easier with the clutch "off."I would recommend this product, especially if you want to be able to get a bit lower gearing on your road bike, without making the exercise prohibitively expensive.

Superb upgrade for gravel bike
3 October 2019

My gravel bike came with Shimano 105 7000, which was excellent, but had quite a bit of chain slap over rough ground. I switched to the GRX 810 derailleur, and now the chain slap is gone. Shifting is still easy and smooth, but the GRX derailleur has a switchable clutch, offering a lighter shifting mode when I am staying on smooth roads. This was a straightforward, drop-in replacement.

Will wrap 11-42 with a 46/30 front
17 November 2021

Shimano quotes at 34t max cassette and a 40 tooth total capacity but they are wimps. I can cover a 42t cassette with a 46/30t front chainring combo without excess chain slack low.and AND room to go big big. Thats a 47 tooth capacity. Your results may vary, but definitely more capable than Shimano would claim.
