I bought the 50lb Kairiki 8 Braid for my Penn Slammer 6500HS as I needed to top up & replace last year old braid. The 300m, 50lb goes on underneath and the removed braid goes over the top. The 6500HS Slammer needed around 420m. The Kairiki 8 is similar to the J-Braid offer by Daiwa. Kairiki Japanese premium braid lines always work.

I bought this Shimano fishing braid a month ago thinking it was going to live up to the great quality of Shimano products but sadly after one day of fishing with it I was so disappoint, I'm a die hard Shimano fisherman with most of my rods and reels being from Shimano. but after a day of catching fish and trees I noticed when I got home that the braid had changed, I belive it must of been from the pressure of pulling my kayak into the trees to retrieve the snag, but it seems like the line got streched out and as a result got smaller for the first 10 meters, maybe it's discolloured or something. but quite dissapointed. It's the best braid for casting but doesn't last a day!!! I still use it here and there for bream fishing but just dissapointed it shape ... MoreI bought this Shimano fishing braid a month ago thinking it was going to live up to the great quality of Shimano products but sadly after one day of fishing with it I was so disappoint, I'm a die hard Shimano fisherman with most of my rods and reels being from Shimano. but after a day of catching fish and trees I noticed when I got home that the braid had changed, I belive it must of been from the pressure of pulling my kayak into the trees to retrieve the snag, but it seems like the line got streched out and as a result got smaller for the first 10 meters, maybe it's discolloured or something. but quite dissapointed. One of the thinnest braids on the market, silky smooth. Floats in the air like gossamer after a cast. Wears well. Easy to knot.

Great strength braid. Green looks awesome on my daiwa revros reel. No wind knots. Easy to spool myself. Being shimano I know it’s good
By far the best braid for price I’ve used. Very thin diameter, bites down into fluro carbon well so that FG knots won’t skip. Haven’t had a single issue with wind knots. Highly recommend.
The cord is great at first glance, it feels a little rougher than the Daiwa J-braid 8x. Otherwise, the cord is super knot tight and very consistent when spooling. What I particularly noticed is that it was absolutely color fast (gray) it has not rubbed off what I have never had. I am very excited when it is properly in use.
Bought 10Lb braid for squiding and whiting. Absolutely crap! Snapped when tying knots, snapped in random places along line, snapped at reel bail arm. Took it all off and replaced it with another brand. No more problems.
Strong and fine line that fits on spool well. The problem being in windy conditions the line knots very easy when casting light lures. Experimented with different leader weights and lengths to no avail. Expected better from Shimano. Will be going back to Berkley.
I bought the line and I regretted buying it after the first cast. The line wind knotted on the first cast and there was no wind. It also knots tying on a jig head! It knotted during a trevally bust up and I missed the catch! The line has also lost its colour after one day of fishing.... serious DONT BUY THIS LINE! The sales rep at BCF said the line is better than Fireline. I should have stayed on the Fireline & saved my money.
I bought a ton of these lines (30lb, 40lb and 50lb line rating) on clearance sale. Me and friends use these for surf and rock fishing purposes. So far very happy with performance. Line is strong and well visible for night fishing purpose. In one of the reels I had 30lb 150m line and when cast with a 10 ft rod the backing line becomes visible. I can easily assume the casts were over 100 meter each time.

Shimano Kairiki 8 Braid Line 150m Green 10lb
Re-introducing Kairiki 8 from Shimano, now adopting new "VT construction method" braiding technology and now available in this handy 150 metre line length. Featuring 8 carriers and incorporating premium Japanese manufacturing, the new tight weave VT construction is created through applying high tension at opposing directions during the braiding process. In the VT Construction Method, fibre is weaved evenly at all angles - resulting in a smoother finish, reduced diameter and a long cast. Additionally the smooth finish creates less friction through the guides, minimising cast noise and aids to a stealthier approach. The tight weave achieves enhanced sensitivity, resulting in low stretch. These attributes make Kairiki 8 an excellent choice for finesse fishing, casting lures and tying knots where smoothness, sensitivity and castability are all required to give that extra edge against your next encounter.
