Just bought this reel. When you disengage the bail to cast and then turn the handle to re engage the bail, the bail locks up and you have to reengage the bail by hand. Will return unless can repair, otherwise looks like typical good Shimano quality.

Miss some of the items I used to purchase, Cabela ss brand being replaced by Red head brand. I grew up with Cabelas, feel like I lost my store "Cabelas" . I don't feel the dedication that I once had. Hbi

Being literally about 1/3 the price of the others I’ve bought, it seems to be handling on the same high-quality level. I hope that time will prove consistent.

Just bought this reel. When you disengage the bail to cast and then turn the handle to re engage the bail, the bail locks up and you have to reengage the bail by hand. Will return unless can repair, otherwise looks like typical good Shimano quality.

I recently purchased the Sedona reel for my son-in-law. Such a disappointment. Tried different fishing line in hopes the reel would be smoother. No such luck.!
Would have been a 5 but it has no backwind function. Have to get used to it but would be great reel if it did.
Have fished Sedona 2500 reels since 1995 and they have been excellent. Some have made 4 trips to Canada for week long expeditions and also fought big walleyes on lake erie, (along with epic cats and sheep head battles). Good drags and durable. Could be the best Shimano for the money.
I have 3 of these reels I fish in back bays in salt water and they work well. Use power pro braid!!
I bought this reel with a cabelas rod combo. From day one, it has grinding sound. Anyway I kept it and used it for more than three years. The cast distance is relatively short regardless what line I used. The bale is not user friendly at all. My other cheaper reels work better than this Sedona.
Very smooth operation as a Shimano piece of equipment. However, very disappointed to find it has no reverse operation lever. That's what happens sometimes when you buy on line.
I was a loyal Pflueger customer, but my last two President XT's I bought this year turned out to be nowhere near what they used to be. I went to Cabelas on a whim and saw this reel and the smoothness was so impressive, I bought it. After using it for just one day, I can say that I will be back for at least one more. Very happy and impressed.
