I have been running this since summer 2020 and it still performs flawlessly. No tuneups been needed in that time except maybe a couple clicks on the shifter's barrel adjuster. I paired it with the XT shifter like some of the other commenters here since Shimano's 12 speed drivetrain components are interoperable from Deore all the way up to XTR. I have the 10-45 tooth cassette and realistically I would have been equally happy with the 11-46 range on Shimano's 11 speed system because I usually find myself shifting 2 or 3 gears at a time (which, of course, this derailleur can handle easily).

I purchased this mech as a replacement for my 2019 XT rear mech that had had one too many rock encounters... :(It is identical to the naked eye and has performed exactly the same. Large jockeys give low resistance and shifting is as expected with a premium shimano product.

A higher spec RD looks flashy but this works really well and is inexpensive. Spend the extra $$ on an XT shifter, where you'll really notice a difference in feel and performance. The only "significant" difference between this and the XT mech is that it has bushings rather than bearings - but I doubt most people could ever notice a difference and there's a good chance you'll smoke it on a rock or a root before you'd be wanting to replace the bearings/jockey wheels anyway. Replace it with another new SLX RD and you're laughing,.

My Specialized e-bike came fitted with SRAM eagle (12), works fine, but I'm dyed in the wool Shimano. Was going to get XTR, but came across this, virtually as good, 1/4 the price, weakened & bought.All fitted, easy set up, no issues whatsoever. Thanks.Just for info, Shimano say 'max 51t, works fine on 52 (Thought I'd have to grind one off.........)
I purchased the Shimano SLX to replace the one that came on my bike due to an impact it took from a tumble on the trail lol. Shipping was quick and it was really easy to install. After the install I took my bike for a spin around the block to test the shifting, which was buttery smooth. Great product!
I purchased the RD- M7100 with XT SL-8100 Shifter to replace my Sram GX Eagle RD & Shifter. I had previously upgrade to the GX from SX which was fairly ordinary. The GX RD was an improvement but the GX was never what i expected so I decided to go for the Shimano RD-M7100/ SL-M8100. This has provided cleaner, quieter consistent shifting which i was looking for. On the basis of price vs performance this Shimano combination is an excellent choice.
Bought as a replacement due to a damaged jockey wheel cage. Relatively easy to set up after a few You tube tutorials..essential to line up the scratch line on the inner cahe with the lower edge of the chain. Fast delivery and turnaround, ordered 2.30 Friday, delivered 11 o'clock Ssturdsy morning.
Bought to replace my SRAM SX. Twinned with the slx shifter works like a dream on the eagle cassette. No adjustments once set up and the multiple shift on the shifter is a nice touch. Would certainly recommend as a replacement to the eagle deralliuer. Even swapped my ceramic jockeys over from the SX deralliuer and haven't had any problems
Works great. Exactly as expected. Had a full XT 12 speed drivetrain build and nailed the derailleur on a rock. Ended up needing a new cassette and derailleur. After reading many reviews, I decided to go with SLX on both over XT to save the money. A small weight penalty, but I couldn't tell you the difference in performance. SLX works flawless. Highly recommend if you are looking for high performance, but not worried about a few extra grams.
have Xt 12 speed on my ebike and full suspension bike, works well... just built up a Nukeproof Scout frame in blue , and went for slx because it has a blue tinge to it, and I had a couple of other slx parts already ... was surprised how well it worked , almost feels better than xt ! well happy with it. hopefully it will last a similar time to xt too.
