The Tyrnos single speed lever drag overhead series comes packed with Shimano's cutting edge reel technology. With a compact one-piece cold forged frame, light-weight spool with oversized High Efficiency Gearing, these durable aluminium reels have the incredible cranking power one looks for in a light to medium tackle game reel. The 12 holds 380 metres of seven kilo mono and the 16 holds 475 metres of ten, but both would make superb six and eight kilo reels. Their vast drag range means you could spool up with Power Pro braid and use them for non-IGFA fishing as well. For heavy tackle, look at the 50LRS model. All five models have alternating twin pawl anti-reverse mechanisms.

Holds a lot of line and a good little outfit for light game. Not as expensive as it's big brothers but still gets the job done on tuna, mackrel, wahoo and the small to mid size marlin. Great entry level big of gear.
No issues, no dramas, ordered the Shimano Tyrnos 30 game reel on line, turned up at home well packaged without damage. I would have no hesitation in recommending this online store to my friends
Use this reel spooled with 500m of 50lb j braid and another 100 - 200 metres of 40lb mono. Have caught about 10 kingies on it so far and use it along side reels like stellas and saragosas. Its drag system is extremely smooth and the reel is incredebly light even when lifting up fish at 10 kg plus drag. Planing on using this reel for marlin, wahoo and bull sharks in the future!

Brilliant Reel. i used this not long after i purchased it to troll for Wahoo of Morteon Island. Reel is very smooth to operate and the drag is excellent. Cant Recommend highly enough
TYRNOS 50's are beasts! Now I've got two! What can ya say about shimano gear?I've still got an old Aernos 3000 XT on a shimano squidgy spin 70(designed by Ian "BARRA" Miller) that I still use! Can't really fault shimano stuff.(watch out for cheap copies from China!)Freddy's have good prices on GENUINE SHIMANO gear and they packed it well for shipping too. Thanks Lads! I haven't used this yet but quality all the way through. The brand is represented along with weight and purpose of longevity.
