Shimano doesn't make good chainrings. Myself and many others on forums have narrowed down problems with our drivetrain resulting from Shimano chain retention being too tight it cause horrible sticking and noise. Even after cleaning everything completely, you will still have issues.I would highly recommend the Wolftooth Camo chainring and the Bash Spider. Best switch ever

Bought this with XT direct mount crank. Looks nice and performs smoothly. I did not know that the direct mount needs a new tool to install so if you are doing it yourself, buy the tool as well.
I’ve been riding my mountain bike for three years and after moving to a place that has a lot more climbing, I decided a lower gear would be a nice thing to have. My bike is equipped with Shimano XT 12 speed group set. The low gear before the chainring swap was a 32 X 51. After receiving the 30 tooth ring, I removed the crankset and took it down to the local bike shop, they swapped it out in about 5 minutes. I had to take one link out my chain to accommodate the smaller ring. Going from a 32 to a 30 doesn’t sound like much but it helps.

Typical Shimano XT quality, not much to complain about. Very high quality manufacturing, and appearance. With the steel chainwheel, it will likely last forever. Weight is 115g for my 32T version.
Less than a year into the life of this chainring and it completely exploded on me. There are little screws that attach the spider to the chainring that sheared off and caused the entire thing to fold in half. The whole design of it seems ridiculous as it’s a direct mount, should be a one piece stamped metal part and that’s it.
Perfect fit. I like the design and the color especially compared to the SLX color which has more of. Metallic blue hue. Worth the $
