Sure it would add to the price, but people shopping in this price bracket are already looking for the best money can buy.

So right off the quality of the materials of the Shoei is very high as well as fit and finish. I would expect nothing less for the price. I went for a long weekend ride wearing this helmet and it is creating a angry hot spot above my ear but only on one side of my head. The fit feels right snug not loose . It is a size large which is my correct size . I think that is the biggest difference by far that I notice with this helmet is how quiet it is.I am not impressed with the air flow through the vents. I fooled around with the wind screen on my GS to get more air flow on a 95 degree day and still didnt notice much difference.Would I buy it again ? Maybe but doubtful. Depends if I can get a liner that fits better.

The helmet offers nothing special for the price. i wanted a modular helmet and the HJC was on backorder forever and I was leaving on a trip so bot the Shoe Neotec II. I liked the integrated Sena with the low profile and discreet look. The helmet is almost unwearable past 2 hours as the chinstrap sits towards the back of your chin towards your neck. This causes some serious chafing and discomfort to the point where you can't buckle the helmet. I am not sure why they did this as the other Shoei helmets don't have this problem. I liked the original Neotec, and since it was time to get a new one, this was my first choice. Great helmet, with a few complaints. Over-all fit is good, comfortable, and a good quality. Not too noisy for me, but then I always wear earplugs. Good ventilation, room for speakers, and a washable interior are also a plus. On the down side, still having to buy different cheek pieces to slim the fit down (I apparently have a fat face) is ridiculous. For a helmet at this price, they should be adjustable, IMO: peel-off foam layers? A couple thinner pieces included? While I sort of like the ratchet chinstrap, it needs a tab to pull on to release with gloves on, a la Schuberth. I've gotten so used to the standard D rings over the years, it's not a big plus. One of my favorite helmets. I'm on my second Neotec II and I really enjoy them. They are definitely the most comfortable helmet I've owned. I do like Sena bluetooth units, and the seamless integration is cool, but I'd just rather have a smooth side to clamp on whatever unit I want. Yeah, I know others do that on this helmet, but the placement isn't ideal with the integrated panels for the SRL. Others complain that this helmet is too heavy. I know it's on the heavy side compared to others, but I ride all day for multi day trips and never have an issue. Maybe folks need to do some neck and shoulder exercises or something. Or, Shoei, if you're listening, make a Neotec 3 Carbon with Sena 50S technology and a transitions shield and lose the internal visor! (wishful thinking)
Overall, the best helmet I ever purchased. I was a little concerned about fit being a little over snug but not headache tight, break in less than 10 hours of use maybe a bit faster. Wind noise is moderate, I did get 100db's warnings from my iPhone app for the excess noise a few times could be before I lock the shield down getting up to speed? I will try and set my alert so I can check closer to when it occurs and report back for those concerned. Then an increase in noise decibels. I wear ear plugs and still hear my tunes fine and the world around me ok, I think for me the airflow for summer use could be better but maybe perfect for cooler weather? I have an HJC where the controls were down the center line, and that was easier to manipulate with either hand. The sun visor isn't a huge deal, since that's not manipulated all that often while riding. It would have been nice to have a central lift point for the main visor, though. It's a little awkward opening the visor with the right hand (think at a stoplight while the left hand keeps the clutch pulled in).The bad:Visibility out the side isn't great with a pinlock installed. It would have been better if the mounting points were moved about 1/2" further back on the visor. The pinlock edges are very noticeable when shoulder checking before lane changes.There can be some wind noise from the visor and chinbar, especially when doing shoulder checks before changing lanes.The Ugly:My biggest beef with this helmet (which I thought wouldn't be a big deal) is the built-in mounting points for a Sena Bluetooth system. The mounting points makes it awkward to install anything other than the purpose-built system. It would have a lot better if they made the cover plates smooth. But the plates have channels cut into them that makes it difficult to mount anything.The cover plates also make it difficult (although not impossible) to mount anything clamp-based, like the Sena Prism Tube. You have to really open up the clamp and force it over the plates, and the plates will deform under clamping force.

The helmet was fine for two months, then it started having difficulty closing. Then I needed two hands to lock the chin bar in place. NOT safe on a modular helmet. Solid modular helmet. Went back and forth because I did not want to use the Sena built in module. I prefer my Cardo and glad I made the purchase. You can mount a Cardo unit with the clamp. I took my time and was able to get the clamp at the perfect spot over where the built in unit would go. I was able to get my JBL speakers in the pockets with zero modification. I also added a tinted smoke face shield and so far so good. Have put in a few hundred miles and the helmet is all that and a bag of chips. The quality is there and compared to my AGV Sports Modular and my Scorpion AT-EXO950, the Shoei is miles ahead. It fits perfect, headliner materials are plush and very comfortable.
