(344 reviews)

The NXR2 is the latest premium sports full-face motorcycle helmet featuring a lightweight, compact AIM shell with organic fibre and multi-composite fibre in various layers for a shock-absorbent shell with optimum rigidity. The Shoei NXR2 has everything you want and need from a sports helmet; safety, aerodynamics, clear vision, ventilation and performance. The NXR2's compact design boasts a newly designed shell that is physically smaller. An all-new baseline with four intakes in the forehead and six outlets produces an effective ventilation system, whilst wind noise is reduced by utilising larger cheek and ear pads. An all-new visor and base plate system allows hassle-free fitting, and the base plates can be adjusted front and rear via a rotating dial. The all-new CWR-F2 visor is compatible with the DKS-304 type Pinlock Evo lens, and the shape of the visor gives enhanced vision by reducing distortion and providing a clearer view. It is also designed to prevent accidental opening whilst at high speeds. Improved visor beading improves wind noise performance. It also features a multiple density EPS liner, EQRS security system, double D ring retention system, 3D interior pads for comfort and optional ear pads to decrease ambient noise. Advanced fabric with high moisture abruption and quick-dry performance give superior comfort in all conditions, plus a detachable and washable 3D centre pad, cheek pads and chin strap cover. An integrated spoiler provides improved aerodynamics, and this comes with a breath guard and chin curtain included, plus a Pinlock EVO insert inside the box. The adjustable base plates are another handy addition, plus this NXR2 is ECE 2205, and ACU Gold approved. All helmets are supplied with a clear CWR-F2 visor as standard, plus a clear Pinlock is provided as well as a breath guard and chin curtain.

Tip: If it's on the side of the helmet, install the clip a bit more forward than you did before.Overall, I'd say if you can afford it, go for it. This helmet is a strong recommend.

I did some research and narrowed my choices down to the Shoei, the AGV K6 and HJC RPHA 70. Decided on the RF1400 because of fit, reputation of Shoei quality, and construction and finish. Also liked the idea that it was an evolution of an already highly rated lid, the RF1200. Very impressed with how nicely everything is put together as well as the look of the solid white. My biggest goal was a quiet helmet and this helmet more than meets expectations. I always wear ear plugs as I am bothered by wind noise. With this helmet wind noise has been virtually eliminated and there is almost zero buffeting. It is obvious Shoei had done their homework. I'm expecting that will become less of an issue as the helmet gets broken in. And because the helmet fits snug on the sides I sometimes need to wobble it to get my ears unfolded. These are minor complaints for anotherwise awesome helmet and in reality I prefer to have a snug fitting lid. Glad I paid more than I had planned on....definately worth every penny.

The RF-1400 has an improved field of vision and makes it a lot easier to do shoulder checks when wanting check your blindspot before wanting to change lanes. The redesigned visor is not an issue for me regarding the new placement of the lift-tab for opening the visor. The centre position of the lift-tab is equally convenient. However, the locking mechanism on the visor is a bit cumbersome to operate compared to previous helmet models. The removal and installation of the face shield is a bit awkward and a pain in the posterior. It takes a bit of effort to do compared to my old Shoei helmet. I have not installed or tried the pin-lock shield which is supposed to reduce fogging of the lens. I'll probably see how well it functions in colder temperatures when riding in the fall. The cheek pad design allows one to easily put on and remove sunglasses or regular glasses. The air flow in the helmet is okay. It's not super great and it's not bad. It's average in my opinion.I noticed three pressure spots on my head when the helmet was brand new. One was just at the back of my head and the other two were on each side of my head, above my ears just slightly towards the back of my head. These pressure points have gradually reduced each time I wear the helmet. There's definitely a break-in period. As far as the RF-1400 being Shoei's lightest helmet..... I disagree. This helmet weighs 55 grams more than my old RF-1100. It's still a relatively light helmet as far as a full-face helmet is concerned, but I was really expecting it to be a bit lighter than my old Shoei RF-1100.Generally speaking, I am very satisfied with the helmet. Snugger and more comfortable fit, better peripheral vision, and improved noise reduction. The price is a bit steep at $729 CAD plus taxes.... but you get what you pay for.Currently, the smoked or tinted lenses for this helmet are in high demand and are on back order at many different retailers. It's a pricey accessory at $97 + taxes CAD, but a definite "must have" in my opinion.

Aerodynamics: Very good, I can look left and right without losing my head.Noise: It's fine, just don't expect a unicorn.About the center latch for the visor...it's fine too. It's not EXTREMELY HARD like you see on some reviews (and yes, even with gloves on).Fit: I've to agree that it's firm and tight. Made me doubt about the sizing. What I did? Played some cards in the house with it on my head for 30 minutes. At this price you don't want to mess with return policy. So after 30 min, no pain and a bit more comfy. Went for a 3 hour ride. Fits perfectly. Conclusion: It's a good helmet. I haven't owned enough helmet to know if it's worth every penny or if it's overpriced.

Great Helmet

Great helmet. Build quality is fantastic, no imperfections on the helmet and white paint looks great. Really quiet. Reasonably light. Putting on and removing the helmet is brutal on the ears and the cheek pads are very tight, but this loosens up after a few hours of wear. No pressure points. Centre release visor takes a ride or two to get used to, I see how it would bug some people but I haven't had any issues with it. Glasses slots are high up which feels unnatural but doesn't put any pressure on the temples at all. Would love a transition visor but the replacement visors are expensive.

It is what you can expect of a Shoi full face

I found that this helmet is quite snug compared to others of the medium size. But my head size is at the upper limit of this helmet's medium size. So putting the helmet on, and especially taking it off, is surprisingly more arduous than what I am used to. Especially with the chin curtain on. However, once wearing it, it is very, very comfortable. Surprisingly so. The neck padding is considerable and snug. What strikes me most is how quiet it is compared to my other helmets, including the Shoei RF-1200 that it replaces. I also prefer its new central visor latch. However, releasing it does require precise pressure application, which requires getting used to (with a gloved finger). The visor mechanism has an adjusting system to insure a proper fit between the visor and the seal (not tried). Shoei claims to have improved the visor removal and installation. I found it to be pretty consistent with the RF-1200 and not particularly intuitive.I would says that this helmet is what you can expect if you previously own a Shoei full face helmet. Just more quiet. All in all, I am very satisfied with this helmet, more than any other I've owned. It is removing it that I dread! But maybe I should have gone one size larger. Yet, wearing it, the size feels perfect.

After having tried so many different helmets, icon, HJC, Sheoi RF SR, for my type of writing which is Sport, the shoei RF 1400 is a bliss. I hear the wind but it doesn't prevent me from hearing the outside. When I ride at relatively high speeds on the highway, with the wind hitting me from all sides, the inside of my helmet is still quiet. Don't misunderstand, when I say quiet it's not like you're in a locked room or a sound proof booth, not going to happen on a motorcycle but the noise level is surprisingly low. Was about to press the button to buy from this site when eBay had a 15% sale so grabbed it from another outlet. That said, this review is about the product not the seller. Firstly, it is a touch lighter than both of my LS2 helmets and I love the design. In addition, it has much better aerodynamics. I am travelling at my usual speeds and there is much less buffetting and no neck strain. I've read loads of reviews about how quiet this helmet is, but I cannot agree with that. Maybe I've been lucky with my LS2s but I cannot tell the difference between them and this Shoei. Same ear plugs, same roads, same everything and I am getting the same level of noise.

The helmet is well put together, feels very premium and a big step up from the Arai Debut it's replaced. The visor mechanism is simpe to use, and I like that it can stay partially opened without dropping closed. The helmet is very comfortable, and it's less noisy than previous helmets I've had in the past. IMO the only way they could improve it would be to add a drop down sunvisor.

I have always found that Shoei helmets fit me well and when it was time for a new one following a hiatus from riding I immediately went for an RF series as I've used in the past. The general fit is as I remember but Shoei has made the entrance pretty tight compared to prior models in the RF series, to the point of putting it on and taking it off being borderline difficult. The cheek pads are also tighter fitting as well. Optional thinner ones are available. The snugness of fit does interfere with some pairs of glasses, causing them to not sit on my face properly.Ventilation is quite good and the vents are fairly easy to use with a gloved hand. Note this is not an exceptionally quiet helmet, even with the chin skirt. Definitely noisier with the vents all ... MoreI have always found that Shoei helmets fit me well and when it was time for a new one following a hiatus from riding I immediately went for an RF series as I've used in the past. The general fit is as I remember but Shoei has made the entrance pretty tight compared to prior models in the RF series, to the point of putting it on and taking it off being borderline difficult. Not easy to install but helps reduce fogging up. There are some extra reflections / refraction going on with it installed that takes a little getting used to. Also the visor detents are weak making a ride with the visor open just a crack impossible. It will literally snap shut at 30kph. Also not a fan of the central latch. Works ok, just fiddly to use.Overall it is a well made helmet with differences enough to make it a fair departure from what came before it.
