I originally purchased the mini because it seemed to fit comfortably and not hang out so far behind my head. However, after a week of using the mini I realized two things. One, the sound quality was not good unless I pressed the headset to my head to get the high notes. Second, the pressure the mini put on my ear hurt after 30 minutes. So, I exchanged the minis for the regular and it made all the difference. I suspect the device needs to press flat against your head to hear the full spectrum of sounds and the mini was too tight and could not lay flat. I love this product. I have many headphones from Bose, Sony, Samsung, Apple, and others. My personal take on the matter is a discovery that a chosen headphone is one that will actually be used. If I have a headphone that is perfect at 100, I put the music on these around 90, for calls and speaker microphone at 110, and actually used all the time at 500. The earmuff headphones may be good but too bulky and you need a case to carry. I cannot stand headphones in my ears although I have them and that is just something I won't actually use often regardless of quality. I ended up giving those to a family member who loved them too. Upgraded to the OpenRun Pro and was actually not as impressed. One long 10K run later I returned them to REI and bought a pair of these OpenRun Minis.These are perfect! The smaller wraparound really adds a more secure fit near the ear, and eliminates any movement while I bounce, trot, and turn during my long runs. I really wanted to like these for the safety benefits, however it seems like they were maybe not tested on female runners? or the fit is just really off for me. My pony tail smacks the back of the headphones, jostling them with every step which is really annoying. I can switch to French braid going forward (these also don't work with a low bun, and are hard to put on if your hair is down). Regardless of hair style, I have also found that the back strap bumps on my hood, or any other clothing item which is annoying. I have only had them for 2 days, but they already won't connect to bluetooth devices :/ I am bummed. The sound quality is fine, but personally I would just go with one earbud for safety, better comfort, and better sound quality. When the volume is loud on ... These headphones are outstanding for running. I've been using AirPods Pro for a long time, but I always have to take them out (even in transparency mode) if I'm in circumstances where I need to hear. These SHOKZ are far superior in this regard because you can hear your surroundings, even with audio playback. Additionally, I love that these have the IP67-rated water/sweat/dust resistance. I never know what climate I'll encounter on a run - lots of dust on the trails, sudden rainstorms, or just an extra sweaty day. I love not having to worry if I'm damaging my equipment.The only downside of these comes, not when I'm running, but when I try to use them for other settings. The battery life says something like 8 hours but for me where I don't have something playing most of the time the battery could last up to 12 hours which I really love. The fact that they don't go in my actual ear is amazing because my ears are very sensitive and I struggle wearing regular inner ear headphones and other types of over ear headphones are too bulky to wear comfortably long term but these are so light weight I forget I'm even wearing them sometimes. Another bonus is that they won't interfere with glasses- I wear my headphones with my regular plastic frames as well as my bulky plastic sunglasses and both fit just as comfortably. These are execellent headphones. They don’t fall down or off. I use them to work and if I choose to listen to music no one else can hear the music. They may have been a little uncomfortable to wear in the beginning but that was becuz I was use to regular headphones but since I been adapted to these headphones I wear them daily and use them daily too. I absolutely love these headphones and will never go back to the regular styles of headphones. You don’t even feel like there on you all day and you can work out in them too. High to low interval exercising I do regularly and wear these thru out workout and have zero issues with them falling off or anything period.
