Shun Premier Serrated Utility Knife 16.5cm
A good utility knife is the third member of your must-have kitchen knife line up. In size, it’s between a chef’s knife and a paring knife, making it the perfect size for all those in-between tasks. For trimming green beans, broccoli, and other jobs where you need some precision, your utility knife is an excellent choice. Any time a paring knife seems like too little and a chef’s knife too much, reach for a utility knife. The Shun Premier Utility Knife offers a razor-sharp six-inch edge that also makes quick work of anything that goes in a sandwich—meats, cheeses, tomato slices, and more. That specialized use is why this style of knife is sometimes called a sandwich knife. You’ll also love the secure grip the ambidextrous Premier contoured handle provides. The Shun Premier Utility Knife is part of the beautiful Shun Premier line, which calls to mind the hand-forged knives of ancient Japan. While each knife still takes at least 100 handcrafted steps to complete, the materials Shun uses are among the most advanced in the industry. Each blade has a cutting core of Shun's proprietary VG-MAX “super steel” to take and hold a precision edge. The layered Damascus cladding supports the core and provides additional stain resistance.

This is my new favorite knife. I knew when I saw the half serrated and half regular blade of this knife, that it was a genius design. I was nervous that the knife would be too long or heavy, but they are super light weight with high quality handles and it absolutely shocked me when I went to chop onions and tomatoes how well this knife works. It is so different from your regular traditional kitchen knife, and I don't think I could ever go back after using this one! I would highly recommend this product and will definitely be purchasing from shun in the future

This is my 6th Shun knife. They are lethal! Slice clean and with ease. I have small hands and the handles are comfortable. This knife slices through citrus and tomatoes without tearing them up and you are able to maintain the integrity of the fruit.I always hand wash and dry immediately. It’s an investment and well worth it!

This knife is amazing. Shun knives are razor-sharp to begin with. Then putting serrations at either end makes this perfect for anything with a skin and a softer inside. I was slicing a tomato earlier, and the serrations glided through the skin, while the smooth center of the knife made very clean slices as it passes through the inside. I've never had such clean tomato slices. I've used it on a variety of foods, and I have yet to find anything it doesn't handle well. I love it! Worth every penny!
I absolutely love this knife-best ever! We belong to a root farm this summer and get various vegetables every week. It’s a breeze to prepare them for baking, roasting, or eating them raw with this kitchen helper! You need to have this one; it will not disappoint!
We tirelessly poured over so many options for our registry for knives to a point of too much information. I kept coming back to the Shun Premier because the caliber, price point and aesthetics were just right. The lifetime sharpening is just an added bonus.Wow were we right! I LOVE THESE KNIVES! We use them at least once a day and more than that on weekends - the first thing I cut with this knife it was an experience. I had never has such ease in cutting anything. The knife just sawed through a watermelon and it was a very special experience where time flew and I felt it took much less time than our previous knives. I do not find cutting and chopping a chore anymore with these knives. It is such a delightful experience. The knives are very sharp so mind your cuts ... It is such a delightful experience. The knives are very sharp so mind your cuts and fingers. What I like: They are exceptionally sharp - Very agile - Not bulky in anyway - They have a great feel and balance which I think improves the cutting experienceFYI - upon using you need to wash the knife, dry it and store it. This is not a knife you leave laying around dirty or in a sink. It can warp the wood and it is not good for this caliber instrument.Tip: We added the Williams Sonoma Basic Blade Guards, Set of 4 to our registry and use the blade guards so we can store these knives in a drawer. We live in Manhattan and a knife block is not a current storage option. I would highly recommend evaluating storage options if you have a limited space kitchen there are a few including an in drawer insert.
I have several Shun knives with different functionalities and love them all. They are beautiful, have excellent hand-feel and weight and - most of all - cut efficiently and precisely. I added this serrated knife to my collection recently and have found it useful for tomato-forward salad prep and for slicing delicate-skinned fruits such as peaches, nectarines and plums.
I LOVE this line of knives. I’ve been building my set over time, and this year I added the 6.5” serrated utility knife. It has the same great handle and is made of the same beautiful Japanese steel as the other knives in the collection. What I like about this specific knife is how light it is. Its narrow and pointy shape and serrated edge mixed with its light weight make it an excellent and easy to maneuver tool. Honestly it is better than I expected.
Thus is a fantastic knife. I bought it to cut tomatoes. It slices very easy and it’s size allows me to have control at all times.
I have had my Shun knife set for about 4 years now and I love them. However, the tip of this particular knife, while sharp and easy to slice with, is also apparently delicate. I do handle all of my knifes with care, I know my way around the cutting board, and have hand washed all my knifes after every use. This knife tip broke while I had someone staying at my house so I'm not sure what they were doing with it but I will be purchasing a new one to replace it. I wouldn't let this one tip ruin my opinion of Shun cutlery and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who handles their knives with care.
