I'm selling my Sony 16-35 GM because of this lens. Side by side, the Sigma is sharper at overlapping focal lengths and the same apertures. It's a bit of a brick and can't take front filters, but that's a cost I'm willing to pay for the increased sharpness and field of view at the wide end. I got the kit with the rear mount Haida filters and have only fiddled with them (various NDs), and they fit and go in and out easily (a nice design feature of the lens). This lens works great for night sky photography, with minimal distortion of points of light. Fit and finish are great, easily on par with the Sony. This lens slots in nicely between the Sony 12-24 and 16-35, and given its quality should be seriously considered. Highly recommended.

I rented the Sigma 14-24mm recently and came away impressed. What stood out to me the most was the lack of distortion at the wide end. It was insignificant and didn't need correcting. The only distortion of any significance is at the long end, which has a pincushion effect that some may want to eliminate. Even that is minor, however.Sharpness is easy to find in lenses today, but well-controlled distortion is much less common, particularly in wide angle lenses. If you're looking for an UWA zoom that makes your pictures look like the world in front of you, consider the Sigma 14-24mm.

It's becoming cliche but owning this lens is really like having a bag of primes. It might be a bit naive of me but I don't think I'm ever going to have purchase another wide angle because of this lens. It's that good. I use it on an A7rii but from the tests I have seen, it resolves 60mp well. I don't think I'm ever going to need more mp than that.Having to purchase a filter holder makes the cost more difficult to swallow. I went with the Nisi S6 and I went with the entire holder even though I will just use the polarizer. I wanted the option to use a square polarizer, just in case. The filter holder is easier to put on in comparison to a screw on or 100mm system IMO. I went with a 100mm slip on lens cap to cover the back portion of the filter holder while it is in ... For those that do want top tier image quality in multiple focal lengths and don't want to shell out the money for the Sony 12-24 GM, look no further than the Sigma 14-24mm Art.

Then I finally noticed I could ad rear filters to this lens. That put it into one of the top runners for me. Some lenses I have used give me aperture flicker, but not this lens while shooting long timelapses. Works great for both my full frame and crop sensor cameras. It isn't as big and heavy as I was expecting, but it does have some wieght. So far it is great and a solid lens.I worry about scratching the outside when I put the hood back on. I shoot a lot in the desert and it is a tight fit. i would love a rubber cap I could slip on to help minimized the ware.With the filters on the back of the lens make sure you ... The Sigma 24-70mm is a fantastic all-purpose lens. The focal length range is perfect for almost all common photographer needs, providing wide-angle views at 24mm as well as tight, flat shots at 70mm. The constant f/2.8 aperture gives good flexibility in lowlight settings. The Sigma 24-70mm also has a high quality physical build that feels rugged, professional, and eloquent. Handling and using this lens definitely makes you feel like the money to buy it was well spent.Just know it's a big, chunky, and heavy lens. I don't find the size burdensome personally, but it's something to consider before buying.
Canon Lenses have NOTHING on the latest Sigmas.With a wide-angle lens, I always check for nasty stuff like distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting. The Sigma 14-24mm/f2.8 suffers from none of these.The constant f2.8 aperture is a real plus - e.g., enables serious consideration of night sky photography.Can't beat the price either.If you're into wide-angle photography, I highly recommend the Sigma 14-24mm/f2.8
After a full function test drive I have to say this lens is crisp and sharp throughout it's entire range. I shoot RAW with a D850, and even upon extreme magnification and pixel chasing....images are finely detailed and absolutely crisp and sharp. Very little vignetting/distortion---barely perceptible in fact. I'm thrilled to have this lens in my bag. If you get one of these you will be thrilled as well.Packaging was superb and shipment was significantly ahead of promised time. Very, very well done B & H !!!!
Up until I got this, every lens I had was a Sony: 20 1.8 G; 90 macro; 16-35 GM; 200-600 G; 600mm f4 GM. This lens is sharper than the 16-35 GM and has a more useful range for me. For about the price of the 16-35gm, you can have both the Sigma 14-24 Art and 24-70 Art and get sharpness comparable or better than Sony and a wider range. Fit and finish of the Sigma lens is great - super solid feel, smooth focus and zoom rings, cosmetically classy, and complete compatibility with the A7RV and A7IV. Definitely worth serious consideration.
When focus is precise, which usually occurs, this lens is phenomenally sharp. I have the Alpha One. Even at 14 mm landscape photos, when I punch in I get the giggles. Video is pretty impressive overall but focus accuracy is occasionally difficult to obtain. However, I blame that on my camera so I don't hold it against the lens. The one negative I have found is less than stellar high ISO performance. I don't know if it's just a wide angle lens thing but as soon as ISO gets up to 2000 or 2500 the image degradation becomes too noticeable. Particularly indoors but also for astrophotography. Some recent Milky Way images were shot at various ISO values. The most revealing images needed those 1600 ISO. Even at 1600 my images were blotted with typical noise as well as a ...
