Exactly what I wanted for weddings!

I’m a wedding videographer in upstate NY and wanted a lighter 24-70 for my Sony A1. This 28-70 was amazing. I don’t miss the extra 4mm. After using it for bride prep, it’s still light enough to throw on a gimbal without tiring me out. I’m not a fan of ALL the Sigma lenses, but they did right by me with this one. Quality is beautiful, gives a sharp image, great color, quick focus, and again.....light. I want another one in an L Mount as soon as it comes back in stock.

Great All-around Lens

I love the compactness of this lens! Very versatile and affordable!

Great travel lens

Bought the lens as a light weight option for a vacation, and it performed spectacularly with my Leica CL. The zoom is smooth, and the AF was very quick. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars was that it really needs a zoom lock, because the barrel can extend if it is hanging down.

Pros: Excellent price/quality. Smooth to work and lightweight. Buy it for my leica Sl2s. I cannot compare with similar lenses. However I bought this lens to simplify my work in some situations. Because I prefer to use prime lenses.

My New Everyday Lens

This lens is fantastic. It's now to daily go to lens. I leave on my camera so I can just pick up and go. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Perfect Hit on the Sweet Spot

For Leica L-Mount, the Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens represents a perfect collection of practical compromises. It ranges from somewhat (but not very) wide to somewhat (but not very) telephoto; it is fairly fast (f/2.8) for a zoom but not as fast as prime lenses or the fastest zooms; it's very sharp and contrasty in most ways for most applications but not as extraordinarily sharp and contrasty as Leica SL lenses; it's got a very high quality build but not the like a tank build of Leica SL lenses; and it's smaller and lighter than any comparable zoom (or any collection of primes necessary to cover the same range), which makes it far easier to carry round, and far more convenient to use, than any comparable zoom or collection of primes. Perfect Travel Lens Along with the Sigma 16-28

Let me start this review by saying I've been a photographer for over 50 years. I am NOT a Pixel Peeper but when it comes to lenses I know and appreciate good glass.My wife and I have several trips planned to go to Europe over the next year or so. I decided I wanted to shoot Full Frame for these trips and wanted to travel light. I had my Lumix S5 for 2 years but with the new S5 MK II with Phase Detection Hybrid AF (FINALLY) I traded it in with the 20-60 Kit Lens for the S5 MK II Body only to build a new "Travel Kit". (A side note, I never really understood that 20-60mm Kit lens, it was neither wide enough and just never long enough and at f3.5 only at 20mm, f5.6 after that, it was not very fast.
