Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for RF Mount
Smooth AF ideal for video shooting The combination of optical design for video AF and use of the stepping motor enables smooth and quiet autofocus. The lens is also compatible with the Sony E-mount Fast Hybrid AF, achieving precise AF tracking. By using the face recognition or eye AF functions of cameras, focus will continuously be on the face or the eyes even if the subject moves during the shot. High-precision, rugged brass bayonet mount The brass mount combines high precision with rugged construction. Its rugged surface and enhanced strength contribute to the exceptional durability of the lens. Mount with dust- and splash-proof construction The mount features a unique sealing to make the lens an excellent choice in a wide variety of conditions. Impressively compact construction with image quality rivaling SIGMA's Art line. To achieve such a compact construction, lens design is considered based on the strengths of the camera body function to correct peripheral light amount and distortion. In addition, axial color aberration, which is difficult to eliminate by image processing, is corrected by incorporating an SLD glass element. Overall, a compactness and lightweight construction combined with superb image quality is achieved.

I am a long time photo hobbyist and have had the great fortune of shooting with Canon, Nikon, and most recently Olympus. I have also been able to use multiple lens from these manufacturers with varying degree of quality but usually there are as good as I expected. Generally, when I buy a lens, I read reviews and gather other's experience. This lens has has very good reviews so I was expecting a pretty good lens. I must say that I was completely surprised at how great the quality of these lens was...it far exceeded any expectations. I have been using it with both the Olympus OMD E-M1 and E-M1 II and the results are terrific. Fast focus, the colors pop, and the detail is exceedingly sharp. The YouTube reviews on this lens are right. This is the best of the Sigma prime lens trio for the Sony APS-C cameras. I have the 16 and 30 mm. I like them both, but this focal length I find to be more useful for most of my pictures. Used this for some nighttime Holiday parade photos and got some great shots. This will be my go to lens for the kids band concerts and dance recitals. Focal length is good and the low light performance is great. The Sigma lenses have nice warm color to them and are very sharp. Focus speed is good but I do find it not as quick as Sony lenses. Very happy with my purchase and got a great price on Cyber Monday. I would recommend this lens and Adorama.

Rented this for a trip to Bermuda, mounted it on my X-M1. The bokeh and color is INCREDIBLE, I got portraits of my girlfriend that look professional right out of the camera. But alas, I am a 24mm field-of-view guy so I would have needed to shoot with this focal length for a much longer period of time to get good at it. Also, the M1 (as well as my new M5) lack a viewfinder which would have been useful for composing w/ this lens. My next rental will be the Fuji 35mm 1. 4, expecting the same performance in a more familiar focal length.

I have only used the bounce on a couple of outings, so I have not put it through its paces. Now we are in winter, not much macro out in the woods or hills. But, so far I am very pleased. The light is evenly balanced. The grip is a nice and secure fit on my speedlight. The magnets are strong so the diffuser does not easily come away from the flash when in amongst the branches and shrubbery. The non-rigid silicone provides give when getting in amongst twigs. It folds up well to fit in a pocket and returns to its shape when put in use.The external finish of the silicone marks easily, but so far it has been easy enough to clean, the longevity of keeping it clean is doubtful.Very expensive and over priced for what it is, the pricing is similar to Cygnustech and AK ... The MagMod MagBounce 2 was recommended to me by a photographer I met on one of my woodland walks – So far a good recommendation.
My primary camera is a Z9. My go-to setup for mountain biking and alpine ski touring has been carrying the Z9 body and 85mm f/1.8 S lens in a padded lumbar pack. To reduce size, weight, and hassle, I bought a Z30 with this Sigma 56mm f/1.4 and I am very happy. The image quality from the Z30/56mm is indistinguishable from that of the Z9/85mm in every case except for extreme cropping. Compared to the 85mm f/1.8 on the FX body, the extra 2/3 stop of extra light on the 56mm f/1.4 can be handy. And the minimum focusing distance on the 56mm is about half that of the 85mm FX lens, making it more versatile. It seems impossible that something so light, small, and affordable can be this good. My next trip is coming up and I'm not even thinking twice about leaving my Z9 at ... MoreMy primary camera is a Z9. This gorgeous, tiny lens is so much easier to stow and carry, and the image quality is so good, it's a no-brainer for travel, hiking, biking, skiing, EDC, etc.
This Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN? Straight up one of the best portrait lenses I’ve ever used! Got it on my Fujifilm X-T5 and my Sony a6700—it’s my go-to on both systems, no question. Razor-sharp edge to edge. On the Fuji, the detail and micro-contrast are next level, plus that signature “Sigma” color just hits different. Seriously, it’s a lens that every camera setup needs, no matter what you’re shooting with. Highly recommend, always. From a die-hard Sigma fan, especially loving their recent releases. Banger after banger.
I switched from Nikon FX to Fujifilm X and was looking to fill the hole previously occupied by my 85mm AF Nikkor 1.8D. Those are big shoes. I've owned Sigma zooms but this is my first Sigma prime, and wow, this little guy exceeded all expectations. It is small for what it is, and light. There is ample plastic here but the fit and finish is very nice and it feels solid– nothing flexes, rattles or moves. Aesthetically, it is a lovely lens, clean and quite understated (the black-on-black markings on the face – bravo). And it's a shooter. The autofocus is smooth, fast, precise and near-silent. I feel it is the best AF system I have used on the Fujifilm platform, hands-down. Bokeh is attractive and consistent and edge brightness is solid. At f2.5 or better, the sharpness ... At f2.5 or better, the sharpness is just so, so good. I think it might actually exceed that of the Nikkor it replaced in my service, and that is really saying something.I bought this to fill the portrait prime niche in my bag, but its delightful handling characteristics and really excellent imagery have got me thinking about this focal length for a lot of other applications. When a lens is good enough to inspire, well, that says it all, doesn't it? The asking price is also extremely fair. I will be purchasing other Sigma primes, for sure. Highly recommended.
I was looking for a good portraiture lens that wasn't too expensive, but took good, sharp photos (specifically in lower lighting conditions) and it has so far turned out to be amazing for what I've used it for. I've taken mostly photos of people and nature, and they turned out extremely crisp. I look forward to using it for family photo shoots, engagement sessions, and nature photography. There is no zooming in the lens itself, so it does have to be done manually through my camera (a Sony a6000). I don't use it for long distance so that's not a problem for me, :)As far as dealing with the company B&H I have nothing but good things to say. They were very professional and good to work with. My only complaint is that it was raining when my lens arrived, and it was left out in the rain rather than placed under our covered porch.I had originally contemplated buying this lens from a retail shop (such as Ebay) but I decided on buying it new from B&H instead. I'm very thankful that I did because it was hardly any cheaper to buy it used and it was very nice and smooth buying it from B&H with their good return policy had I needed to return (which thankfully I didn't).Overall, I would 100% recommend buying this lens if you want something condensed, high quality, and budget friendly for portraiture or closer up photos.
I was looking for a fast lens that would allow me to shoot semi-spontanious portraits of people at our social organization. I was trying to capture images of people expressing true joy. I wanted to avoid using a flash, which usually causes irritation. I started by joking with them and telling them about the person who hated to have their picture taken, and how they took the chance. That they liked the picture and posted it as their Facebook profile image. This has been working so well that people are asking for photo's. Also I tell them that I will not post it anywhere without their permission. The camera is an Olympus OM-D E-M1 MkII, it has a wonderful auto focus, and stabilization. I can shoot short bursts while I am joking around with them, then select later. ... The speed, pleasant bokeh, natural color, and apparent depth of this combination really helps; It seems to enhance the beautiful energy of someone being really happy. This is my first fast Lens, so I can not compare it to anything except that of not having a fast lens. I would have a much harder time being spontaneous with a slower setup. This lens is great! The only thing I don't really like is the tactile inconsistency of focus by wire. But most of the time I am enjoying the best auto--focus I have ever experienced, and seldom even use the manual focus.
I recently purchased this Sigma lens to pair with the Fuji XT5 and XH2s. Some concern with the 40mg sensor on the XT5 but quickly faded after a few shots. Focus is fast and accurate. Images are super sharp with great color. Size and weight compared to Fuji's native lens of similar size is great. Price difference is even greater. Highly recommend.
