Silca's Impero Ultimate Frame Pump revamps the famous original using an aluminum construction and the finest component materials. The alloy barrel and head house an aluminum handle piston and rod that push on Silca's renowned leather washer made in Milan. All that air makes its way through a brass check valve that is similar to that used in their floor pump and then through a synthetic elastomer gasket that uses a 2-stage sealing design that holds onto valves without requiring a locking lever. Silca has made their name by producing pumps that work well along with looking good so it only takes 112 pumps on the size small to get a 23 mm road tire up to 100 psi.

Running parallel with the dark green Waterford downtube, it snapped right into place. So much better - for me, than some mini-mini pump or C02 cartridge. As you can see, Impero pumps and I have quite a history. Do the math...1,200 strokes with an Impero pump - one week after another...one year after another. Have always liked a frame pump over carrying a mini pump either in my jersey or attached to the water bottle cage. Previously used Zeal pumps but the Silva is much better. The inflation head is better constructed and I really like the ability to adjust the length of the pump so that it can be used on my other bikes. Great Pump.

I bought an early Impero frame pump. A couple of weeks laterI went to pump a tyre, and got no pressure. There was a rattle in the body of the pump. Turns out an internal retaining bolt had come loose with the vibration of being carried on a bike. Slica explained how to fix it. Recently I went to pump up a tyre and found the bolt had come loose again. It is easy to fix if you have a medium to long allen key handy, would be a real pain if you do not. The rating has to be either zero stars (useless) or 5 (a great pump), so 2.5.

Lovely

Lovely piece of gear. I ride with this on gravel and road bikes and it's a really nice style addition. I wish it was a bit more secure on the bike, but understand that would take more spring strength. I simply lash it to the frame with an appropriately sized velcro strap. The pump operates really well and is much more effective than a small hand pump. I like having this on long adventures and knowing I can get a lot of volume into tubeless tires when needed.

Maybe the most beautiful insurance policy there is

While I've been fortunate to not have too many instances of roadside tire repair, it's happened often enough that the value of better reinflation is much appreciated. This pump has gotten both my 650b x 42 and 700c x 25 tires up to 'ride-ready' pressure in less time than my previous frame pump; I'm guessing this is moving more air than its competitor, but its clearly better seal means that air's actually going into the tube, too. It's a really nicely designed tool both functionally and aesthetically, and at the risk of invoking the road debris gods I'd say it helps take some of the sting out of the occasions that call for its use.

Premium Pump (but measure carefully)
9 November 2023

This pump isn't for gram-shavers and ultralight bikes, but it's an outstanding pump that you'll be glad you have if you ever flat out and either don't have or accidentally spent a CO2 cartridge. I like having a hand pump as a backup, but using the typical tiny pumps is farcical, barely registering a change in pressure with each stroke. This thing's a SERIOUS pump and almost as quick/easy as the floor pump back home.I've had the OLD version of this for a few years, picked this one up for a new bike that's essentially same frame dimensions, and was quite surprised when the new pump, same size (Medium) wasn't even close to fitting. As it turns out, as part of the redesign they made significant changes to the sizes/dimensions, probably in an effort to avoid dead spots ... MoreThis pump isn't for gram-shavers and ultralight bikes, but it's an outstanding pump that you'll be glad you have if you ever flat out and either don't have or accidentally spent a CO2 cartridge. As it turns out, as part of the redesign they made significant changes to the sizes/dimensions, probably in an effort to avoid dead spots where you're right on the edge between sizes. The other design change is a great improvement, adding a threaded extendable bolt to the end cap so that if you're a bit short or loose, you can add some length. As long as you carefully measure the frame opening where you intend to mount this, and look closely at the NEW size guide on the product page, you'll be fine.

Quality is amazing but won't fit on every bikes

I hoped it would fit my Giant TCR Adv. however the shape of the frame leave a little too much space between the top tube and the pump. Would be perfect for a round tubed bike frame.

Well made pump
29 May 2023

The Impero Ultimate II frame pump (in medium) rides very quietly on my Moots Vamoots road bike. I took the time to practice airing up a front wheel that I deflated just for the practice. The pump inflated my front wheel just fine. Some care has to be taken to ensure the pump is properly seated on the valve stem. The pump is very well made and should provide me many years of service. If you wish to buy one for your bike take care in choosing the correct size. You need to carefully measure the storage location.
