A high-quality product for the budget-minded, the A55 is positioned as one of the most cost-effective SSD models. Still wasting precious time while booting your computer or loading applications? Then it's time to get rid of your old hard drive and switch to an SSD. Powered by SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, the A55 is able to boot your computer or launch applications within seconds. Even new disks can contain one or more bad blocks which may cause irreparable damage to your system. But have no fear! To prevent flash memory corruption, the A55 is built with bad block management technology. Bad blocks are continually monitored and replaced to keep your system in good condition and to improve reliability and endurance of the SSD. Because they do care about your data.

Cant fault it,im not a super gamer or heavy pc user, But I bought this ssd for an older laptop (2years now) that was a retired photo/video editing machine to be a dedicated media hdmi to tv laptop. This thing bought it back to life and to be honest Ive used it every single day for the last year since i bought this drive (along with a external hard drive cloner) and it hasnt let us down at all.Ive run photoshop on it, Gta iv, euro truck sim, media programs and the laptop is quicker now then when i bought it.To be honest I bought two more and put them into friends laptops and they seem to be a pretty solid drive. Backed by a 36month warranty as well.Id honestly not done all the super in depth research I would usually do and just bit the bullet and bought this ... MoreCant fault it,im not a super gamer or heavy pc user, But I bought this ssd for an older laptop (2years now) that was a retired photo/video editing machine to be a dedicated media hdmi to tv laptop. Even thought the drive is a good price, I had a hard time loading El Capitan OS on my Mac. I've had no problem using other makes in the past (ex. OWC/Samsung/Crucial). Using an iMac 2011, I would try to update the OS, but it would fail and load a white screen. I was able to load High Sierra with no issues, but still feel a little uneasy with this brand. The reason for the old OS is because of the old software I still use. DVD Studio Pro is one of them. Is it possible to try another one to see if it is just a faulty drive? Thanks!

This SSD is at a great price. It is easy to install and super fast. BIOS immediately recognized the SSD and all is good. Could not be simpler.. I highly recommend this SSD if your are upgrading and older Laptop. I upgrade and old Dell E5530 Intel i3 Laptop with 4GB RAM, old mechanical 5400RPM hard drive with 8Gb RAM and new 500Gb SSD with Win10. All I can tell you this runs like a brand new Laptop now. Super fast and I could not be happier!! Thanks NEWEGG for your fast shipping!! Again bought this SSD in 08/2020 and installed in an old Dell i5 CPU 16Gb RAM PC and the PC came alive. This revived an old PC , it was easy and with a new WIN10 install it like a new PC again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Great SSD. Used as External drive on Xbox Series X
22 July 2023

I needed a new external drive for my Xbox Series X because my 500GB Samsung drive was full. I had an external enclosure that cost less than $10 and then caught this drive on sale. Including the cost of the enclosure, it cost a little less than the 500GB drive, with twice the storage.I knew it should work as an external drive on Xbox, but I saw no reviews about using it as one, so I thought I would give it a shot and share my experience. This SSD Drive works great as an External SSD for my Xbox Series X so I can play my older games that are not optimized for Xbox Series X/S. I transferred my games to it and the Silicone Power 1TB drive has worked great since I installed it a few days ago.The drive is lightweight and is thin. The enclosure I used had my old PS4 HDD in it and is just as thin, if not thinner that the PS4 HDD. So, this drive is thin enough to fit in a PS4 and I believe it should work fine.I also see no performance difference between this drive and my external Samsung SSD, but I have not done any tests to compare read/write times.

Inexpensive. A good performer. Not gonna break any speed records, but that's okay.

If you set your expectations right, this is a good drive. But if you buy this, and go-gaga with benchmarks and tests, you will be disappointed. But under normal day-to-day use where you don't really look all day at your read/write speeds and throughput, it is still very quick. Especially when coming from a Hard Drive. It's inexpensive, yet it comes with a migration software license. Yes I know you can find them free on the internet. But you don't often come across a manufacturer that provides a proper migration software for a budget product. This is running two systems in my home now. An old VAIO laptop which I resurrected benefitted greatly from this. And a budget entry level desktop. No problems whatsoever.

It works better than expected

MY PC is using Windows 10 Pro. I use it for a variety of chores including video and music editing. I created my own security suite with a virus scanner and firewall from different manufacturers. The system has always run solidly but too up to 15 minutes to settle down after a cold start or restart. Some applications were sluggish starting. Using the Silicon Power 1TB SSD, the system is completely up in just over two minutes. This may sound slow to some, but considering what I'm running at startup, it is orders of magnitude better than when my boot device was a 7200 RPM hard disk. I did make some changes to my system configuration. I split off most of the data to a second hard disk. I'm very happy I did. My experience has been 100% positive, except for the long time cloning my hard drive. But, since that was a one-time thing I won't take away any eggs. The ACE A-55 is a top notch drive that lives up to its specifications. I would recommend it highly.

In the last several years, SSD manufacturers engaged in a race to the bottom in terms of quality. SLC NAND and MLC NAND were replaced by TLC, QLC, and now PLC, less and less reliable. I've got two SSDs die within 3 weeks of each other, in two different PCs, both with TLC NAND, one of them being the well reviewed Crucial MX500, less than 2 years old. Folks, if you value your data, don't bother to buy consumer level SSDs. If you must have SSD please buy an expensive enterprise unit, otherwise buy an electro-mechanical HDD, they are much more reliable, some of them are fast enough for almost any application, and before they die they give sufficient signs that will allow you to save most of the data. One of the cheapest DRAM cache SSD drives you can get. And though SP Silicon isn't a household name, they definitely seem to have a pretty big presence in the Taiwanese supply chain. I've had good luck with their microSD cards for Raspberry Pi, so I figured why not. Build quality is typical of cheap SSDs, plastic housing with threaded brass inserts. Feels super light, so I'm guessing it's probably just a half size board inside. Did a crystaldiskmark on my i5-3550 8GB DDR3 Biostar TZ77XE4 motherboard, and the results were quite impressive. Sequential read and writes are what was expected on a SATA 3 6 GB/s connection. Write IOPS of 82,000 were not expected. Very poor performance
17 July 2019

Worst performance ever under linux (Ubuntu 18.04). It can't sustain a high speed file transfer. Write speed bursts around 400MB/s then drops to 100MB/s and barely goes any higher. Furthermore, it often causes the SATA port to drop from 6.0 Gbps to 1.5 Gbps. With or without the SATA issue, it still can't sustain a write speed with big files. I have a WD Blue 1TB in the same machine, and it maxes out the transfer without any problems. I updated my BIOS and my OS, to no avail. Also, their firmware utility is useless, it doesn't detect the SSD in windows and doesn't update anything. So it's hard to tell if it's a firmware issue or if the drive is defective. In any case, very disappointing, I'm returning it.
