I have played for over 40 years in some top notch bands. I play 5 and 6 string bass' most of which are high end. I did a bunch of research looking for a 5 string that was jazz style and not high priced. After the research I found what I was looking for at Chicago Music Exchange. Purchase was simple and the bass arrived in a few days. This thing was packed so tight dynamite wouldn't hurt it. (No case ordered) After unpacking, I found the bass to be flawless and fit and finish to be outstanding. After setup, it performed as well as any top end bass I have. Achieving the sound you prefer is simple. I took it to a rehearsal and loved every minute I played it from the first note. It cut through our sound without any problem. This is now my "go to" bass. Another excellent bass from Sire. Great workmanship! Authentic jazz bass. The Sire V5 sounds great without much tweaking. Also lighter than the V7 and very well balanced. The roasted maple neck feels great. Love it!

Crystal clear pickups, incredibly smooth roasted maple neck and a beautiful finish. There are some small marks around the binding but only really visible if you go looking for them. Sire have nailed this one! Looking forward to getting the matching P bass soon!
