I used these SIS gels recently on some 100+ mile rides & they worked well. Personally I find I have to eat some solid food as well as Gels because the gels on their own don't sit in my stomach too well (being polite). However, I do find gels to be a great solution when one needs to get some energy quickly without too much fuss. These gels are packaged in a way that makes them quite easy to ingest whilst riding, especially when you need a quick hit, like half way up a mountain. However, if you get the gel on your hands it's a bit sticky. Overall recommended, especially in this bulk price box.

The science in these is undoubtedly sound, but myself and more than one person I know has real trouble with the consistency of this gel. It's not a sticky liquid like the High5 stuff, but it's not yoghurty like the TORQ stuff. It sits somewhere uncomfortably in the middle. On a warm day...eurgh. Obviously many people have no problem with it, so would recommended buying a single sachet from your local Evans store and giving it a try before you buy a big box - you may be grateful you did!

Bought mainly as just-in-time calorie replacement for running, but the energy boost is noticeable -- consuming one ~4k into a 10k led to a PR where I felt noticeably less knackered at the end. As advertised, you don't really need water to drink/eat them, but I find it varies by flavour, so this variety pack is great to see what works for you. I find that the lemon & lime tastes like a Calippo and leaves the mouth a bit sweet and sticky, whereas the pink grapefruit / apple go down easier. A bit of water to wash it down certainly helps, I got a little 150ml soft flask to shove in my pocket.

First time using these so have nothing to compare it too. They taste ok, could be better . Seemed to give me a good boost of energy when I needed it though. Would probably buy again.
I love the SIS energy gels. They don't upset my stomach, are easy to open and provide plenty of energy. The flavours aren't too overpowering, and to be honest, they can be quite similar across the range. This variety pack is a great way to save money. The consistency is easy to swallow and doesn't leave a residue on my teeth or unpleasant aftertaste. A good, high quality product that does what it says on the box.
Training for Kilimanjaro and bought a variety of different energy gels. Hated the consistency of these. Torq products are the best so far.
A fair few times these gels have rescued me when suffering from the dreaded Hollow Legs. The benefits seem to kick in quite quickly, maybe only 10 mins, so they're great for those unexpectedly viscious hills when on a new route. I always pack at least one per 50km planned. I'm not convinced they're really any more or less effective than other brands but I do really like these flavours, especially the pink grapefruit. A negative is that no matter how careful you are to suck out the gel, the empty wrappers always leak some sticky goo into your bag / cycle top. Also recyclable or biodegradable wrappers would get an extra star from me.
Anyone who has ridden for longer than the body has in reserves of energy will know the feeling of weakness. While great natural products exist, from bananas to homemade flapjacks etc, there will be a place in most keen cyclists kit for one or two good quality gels when the going gets a little too tough. SIS has an effective gel formula that gets most of us up and going quickly, whether a longer sportive or ahead of hat last few steep climbs. The variety pack allows a good opportunity to try several flavours, and from experience it is more likely you will be sick of 'the same flavour' than different flavour (although I do personally dislike the cherry flavour).
I bought for an easy boost for running around after kids. Just leave them in my car ready for use. Pleasent surprise of flavours. And sure enough they give you that boost you need sometimes. If you got kids, you know. I suppose they would work for sports enthuaists too.
I am able to say there is a noticeable difference in my ability to lift weights. Ive trialled with & without and I just dont have the same ability to train without. Definite energy boost for muscles. Female/52/gym-weights
