Siser has been my go to HTV. Easy to use and weed with great application. Layers easily and works great with my heat press. For the 1 star review: The HTV should never come in contact with the mat and therefore shouldn't peel away from the backing. Always put the shiny side down on the mat and cut in reverse/mirror. Either the wrong side was placed on mat or reviewer may have thought it was a regular vinyl? Have never had an issue with Siser and here are a few recent projects

I had used other brands of htv in the past and was not entirely impressed. I didn't think there could be *that* much difference. I gave Siser Easyweed a try based on their reputation for being the best and I was amazed at the quality difference. It cut perfectly, weeded easily, ironed on smoothly, and made the baby shower gifts look like professional quality.Using my regular clothes iron, I applied 10 seconds of pressure and heat with parchment paper, removed the clear carrier sheet, then applied 10 more seconds with just parchment paper. It molded right in to the fibers of the cotton baby onesies. It was smooth and soft and absolutely perfect! Definitely worth the extra money simply for the ease of cutting/weeding and the smooth, soft finished product. Even my ... I have only ever used Cricut brand materials, but I was making 17 shirts and Siser was on sale. I am SO glad I bought it! I found the material to be super easy to weed, it requires a lower heat setting and less time to apply, and honestly (IMO) looks better, too. Siser user for life now!
I have used the Siser easy weed HTV several times already with very little issues - I must’ve gotten a crap roll this time. I was working on a project and this time it was horrible to work with the vinyl. I even changed the setting on my machine to less pressure and more pressure to see if it made a difference, NOTHING! The entire roll was garbage. This stuff is not cheap so it should be consistent.
We run a custom garment decorating business. Over the years we’ve tired many different brands of HTV and have found the SISER HTV, is the best for: Cutting, Weeding, Application and Durability. Michael’s has been a great resource for the product. Although we do thousands of shirts every year and can purchase the product from wholesalers, Michaels wide selection of Siser, and great pricing (like they have for their Lowest Prices of the Season Sale) makes them the perfect place to purchase Siser, when we need those specialty colors. Thank you Michaels for being in our neighborhood…you’ve been a lifesaver for many projects.
I use to love this product. I’ve been shopping at Michael’s and Amazon buying this product for months now. I loved the way it was easy to weed, the colors are bold, and the price is good (especially for the measurement of HTV you get, and it’s usually on sale). HOWEVER, I recently bought this HTV in white a few weeks back for a couple of T-shirts I was making for someone. It would not cut (I had to cut the words out a few times); it did not weed, it was just tearing up like a cheap imitation of Saran Wrap. I was furious. It was a waste of my time, and money. Now don’t get me wrong, this was the first time it ever happened to me, but I was so disappointed in this HTV...and for the record, I purchased this product from a Michael’s store, not online...it must’ve been a ... This is the easiest vinyl to weed. Sometimes you don't even need to use the tool. Start from the corner and peel. When peeling, if you find that your vinyl cut all the way through, that means there was too much pressure (and most likely your blade is still breaking in so it's sharp). There is a magical setting on Cricket Design Studio that allows you to choose the pressure of the cut. From experience,Explore Air 2/Joy - Smart Iron On, Pressure Less (these settings don't work for flock or glitter)Cameo 4 - Heat Transfer Smooth, Test Cut. Always Test cut on Cameo 4. You'll figure it out from there. (make sure your blade is position correctly. this is easily the first indicator when it comes to the Cameo 4.)If your designs are falling out, you didn't press them ... (make sure your blade is position correctly. this is easily the first indicator when it comes to the Cameo 4.)If your designs are falling out, you didn't press them correctly the first time. To prevent this, before you apply the vinyl on a shirt, pre-heat the shirt and get all the moisture out. You should be able to see a little steam fly out and that means you're good but don't scorch it. Most Siser works great around 305. I always use a lot of pressure. You know you did a good job when the vinyl becomes "one with the shirt." It's almost like sublimination. almost. You don't want it to feel crisp, that's for sure gonna fall out after a wash. I had this problem too and I fixed it by applying a lot of pressure to force the vinyl into the material and not over the material. Even tho it's advertised as "iron on" some of the pros in this industry prefer Siser but with a heat press machine. I'm waiting for Michaels to make their own heat press. Not the cricket ones because of the lack of pressure.Anyway you could still get around this without a heat press. It never hurts (unless u do it wrong) to apply heat a second time. BUT, make sure you have teflon sheets. Go over your design a few times and press down if you're just using a iron. I always double press my shirts to prevent that fall out cause that's Branding issues. Literally.Lifehack 0.5: Pre-heat the garment!Lifehack 1: Put a thin pillow/some material inside the shirt then press.Lifehack 2: if you're vinyl is sticking on the mat, you're most likely using the wrong mat. Remove some of the adhesive or apply painters tape over the mat then tape your vinyl (from the corners) on. This is a hack i figured out with the Explore Air 2 when I was new.Lifehack 3: In software, put a box around your designs so you don't waste any vinyl.Lifehack 4: A rotary blade. A rotary blade.Lifehack 5: Test your products before you sell. This takes 2 days. After you apply your vinyl wait 24 hours then throw it in the washer and dryer a few times to see if there's cracks or if it falls out. Then go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong. There's a learning curve but you'll figure it out.Lifehack 6: Make sure whatever you sell is free for commercial use or you've purchased the copyrights/credits to do so. Yeah, there's t-shirt police.Lifehack 7: SOMETIMES TSHIRTS have this anti-flammable watchumacallit. (causes vinyl not to stick on) You want to make sure yours doesn't have that but if it does, pre-wash the shirt, don't dry. Air dry naturally then iron it.Lifehack 8: If you missed a piece of vinyl or want to start over on a shirt. Look up a product called VLC. <---- you're welcome.
Siser iron on VinylThis is a great product!! I don't have a cricut machine but I work at a commercial print company and we were able to cut my design perfectly on it with our mimaki. Later I weeded the vinyl at home (which omg, I wish all vinyl weeded this easily and precisely! I was worried about the small wording that says (dot)) I used a regular iron since I don't own a heat press, I put it on the cotton setting and laid parchment paper over the cut graphic and waved the iron firmly over it for 15 seconds. After I peeled the backing off, I put parchment over it again waved the iron for an additional 15 seconds. I repeated this process for 4 shirts :) Definitely will be ordering this product again! This was a fun project.
I regularly use Cricut AND Siser, depending on the exact color the customer wants and Siser is WAY EASIER AND USES LESS OF MY TIME, but since I'm not around when the customer washes the item, I have more confidence in the Cricut NAME. People are saying it doesn't stick to the shirt and I think theyre doing it wrong. IT'S NOT THE SAME DIRECTIONS AS FOR CRICUT IRON ON!! IT'S QUITE LITERALLY LIKE 10-15 SECONDS, (NO FLIP OVER) and you're done. Any more than that and you're burning off the adhesive, then it DEFINTELY won't stick! I think they're 'overcooking' it. Both brands have their pros and cons, but I have to step in and say Siser is really good. And I prefer Cricut, but like I said it's ultimately what the customer is requesting. Siser htv weeding is the worst nightmare ever (it is so sticky it drives me NUTS) but the pressing is flawless and FAST. Cricuts weeding is WAY EASIER (THE PLASTIC ISNT SO THIN AND STICKY) but it takes a front press AND back press. BUT THEY'RE BOTH RAD. I personally just cant STAND THE HALOGRAPHIC CRAP. just stay away from that crap. BOTH BRANDS of it.
