Sistema Microwave 3.2L Large Microwave Steamer, Red

Love it! So convenient to have the -- it works really well to steam veggies -- be just add a little water to the main red base, add the elevated basket, in goes veggies and into the microwave. I've also use the separating level for salads and things that I didn't want to touch my spinach, so it wouldn't get soggy before being able to get to it at work. Like the Sistema medium soup mug, I've also used this for my overnight oats, where I can prepare what I'm going to have breakfast and next day let it sit in the frigerator in this container, then all I have to do is microwave it in the morning and go. A must product for healthier eating!

This product works as advertised, is easy to use, easy to clean, just be careful opening it because it gets VERY VERY HOT. I recommend letting it sit on a counter for several minutes prior to even opening the lid. And then, as the product instructions advise, open lid away from you. Anyhow, have to eat healthier or die, so steaming things is the way to go. No more fatty oils and frying for me. I cut up veggies and tofu ahead of time, store in quality food containers, and then when I am need of a healthy meal, I just place the ready foods into the steamer (after putting some water in the bottom), put the lid on (MAKE SURE VENT IS OPEN WHEN COOKING), put into my nuclular oven and press the "Vegetables" button. Depending on what type of veggies you are steaming, you may want to run an additional minute or two afer the automatic timer is done depending on how you like your veggies. Kale and brussel spruts, for example, take longer to steam. I received a smaller steamer as a bonus with this item, but that is designed for things like fish, which I don't eat, but I may use it when I have smaller amount of veggies to steam OR I may use it for steaming some of my veggies separate as my eggplant is getting mushy, while my sprouts and kale can use more steaming when all in the same steamer.

Great product

I work full time and the last thing I want to do is cook when I get home. This steamer is big enough to get in everything I want and is really quick at cooking. I would recommend it for anyone.

Handy and versatile

I had a similar steamer from mother’s kitchen, and loved it as much as she did, but it was at least 10 years old and likely not up to date plastic. I did find a flat steamer from another company, but didn’t care for it - I couldn’t drain and then season in the same container (after removing the basket). This Sistema Steamer does everything I want and is the perect size for two people. I gave it a Good because the first one I bought failed to “lock”, thereby causing difficulty and safety issues when using. Bed Bath and Beyond was quick to exchange and the second unit works very well.

Healthy Eating

I just absolutely love this steamer. I have this product already but I bought more as gifts for friends. This steamer makes steaming fresh veggies quick and easy. Steamed veggies allow for them to retain the vitamins that we are supposed to get from them without having to eat it raw. This steamer is the best solution for those who prefer to have their veggies cooked but yet who wants to gain the benefits of the veggie. With a little trail and error you can figure how long to cook: I normally to about 2 minutes at a time for softer veggies and test until it is the texture I prefer. For stronger type veggies I cook for 4 minutes first then 2-4 minutes thereafter until it reaches my preference. I also have a smaller steamer which I use to steam fish. The only con is the size does not allow to prepare a large quantity (for a large family) at one time. But the bright side of that is if you had a steamer for each person (or two) you can cook their veggies to their liking. My grandchildren love it because they get to help and fix their own dish of veggies. Just be careful and remove the dish from microwave yourself as it very hot to touch and if dropped the water remaining in dish is scalding. So whether you are trying to diet, trying to eat smarter and healthier, getting the family involved in cooking or just finding a better method of steaming...it is not completely kid safe in handling after cooking but it is absolutely the best for quick and easy steaming. Most amazing product. I cant go without it.

The most amazing product! Don't know how I ever got along without it. Cooks rice perfectly in 25 minutes on 700 Watt setting. Simply place the strainer, pour the rice on the strainer, keep filling with water until the rice is well covered, add salt and cook. No more waiting for pots to boil on the stove or any need to watch that food do not overcook or boil over. I cook all my vegetables in it too! Vegetables cooks in about 15 minutes. You can even bake a cake in it. Lightweight, easy to clean. Be careful when choosing a size, the actual surface on which you can place food to cook on the strainer is smaller than the products size. You can cook approximately 600 grams of potatoes in the 2.4 litre steamer. The 2.4 litre steamer is suitable for 2 adult people, perhaps, ... MoreThe most amazing product! Not a bad solution for cooking veg at work

I bought this steamer to cook greens in the microwave at work. It works well with more robust greens like kale but has been known occasionally to burn broccoli when cooked on the highest setting. In my opinion, as with all microwaving, the cooked food is of an inferior quality than food steamed conventionally on the hob. Nevertheless, this is a reasonable compromise given the limitations of the office kitchen. I have not tried to cook meat or fish in the steamer (yet).

Not very big

This works OK but it doesn't hold much. Although I only cook for one, I do like a lot of veg and it is difficult to get a lot in, mainly because of the stem in the middle. However, that same stem is very handy for lifting out the inner basket. It cooks quickly, though, more quickly in fact than my previous round steamer and I am having to try different timings each time I use it so that I get the veg just right for my taste. Overall a good gadget but if I wanted another one, I would buy the bigger size.

Perfect vegetable steamer

I was introduced to the slightly smaller brother to this one by a friend. I used his so often I bought my own one. Perfect veg steamer either frozen or fresh veg and in 5-9 mins depending on how much you put in, its perfect and so easy. Ill admit that I actually eat more veg than I ever have as its easier to cook now. Thank you

love this product

I been using this product since it came in the market. I never bought another brand. Both of my daughters are using the same in their household. All my employees got hooked on SISTEMA. It last and last.
