SkinCeuticals - Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2

I was fortunate enough to receive a set of 2:4:2 samples from SKINCEUTICALS in May. I have been using them when I require barrier repair due to overuse of Actives on my skin since that time. I find it has a silkier texture and moisturizes my skin better than other moisturizers of this type and also takes far less to cover my entire face. Just a pea size amount is needed due to the high concentration and smooth texture. This product does cause a mild stinging sensation on areas where there is existing chemical burn, acid mantle disruption, or over exfoliation. This product is expensive and has mixed reviews on Influenster. Free samples can be requested from the brand through their site and social media channels. I recommend trying before buying due to the price point and mixed reviews, but I definitely highly recommend.

I started using Tretinoin (Prescription Retin-A) about 6 weeks ago and have gone through all the side effects that are common when starting powerful retinoids (Flakey skin, burning, purging/breakouts, dry tight skin, etc). I was layering on moisturizers and serums to restore my skin barrier soothe my burning red face during this transition period. Decided to take the plunge and invest in Triple Lipid Restore, as it advertises that it specializes in barrier restoring soothing hydration. I was blown away! I applied it at night on my "off nights" as I only appy tret every other night. My skin barrier is pretty much healed, no more flakes, soft skin, and SO much less redness in the AM. Well, I took a chance and 3 jars later, I’m in love! 😠This comes in a luxe looking frosted, glass jar (so I always keep the box) and also with a plastic scoop that you can wash off and not contaminate your jar since you will be dipping into it. The consistency (I tried to show in the pic) is creamy, kind of thick, but easily spreadable. You only need a small amount. The jar will last quite a while. For me, it does tingle for a minute or 2 and goes right away. When I tell you my skin the next day was noticeably better, it’s not an exaggeration. This has the optimal amount of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids (the 2:4:2) helping with dryness and barrier repair. I’m know I’m going on here, so I’ll try to wrap it up. I used this many days through last winter and this winter, when I step up my Tretinoin dose/frequency or when I compromise my skin barrier like I just did a few days ago when I left an acid on for too long. ğŸ¤¦â€ â™€ï¸ Using a gentle cleanser, this, and a sunscreen, your skin will be repaired in a few days. This moisturizer is literally the greatest thing created. I have combo/sensitive/acne prone skin. It hydrates my dry patches around my nose, mouth, and chin. It doesn’t make me oily at all. I use it day and night. It is a great base for makeup application especially for combo or dry skin bc it hydrates those flakey dry patches all day! It soaks into your skin leaving you feeling super soft. I did notice a difference in my skin after using this a few weeks or so.. my skin tone was brighter, discoloration seemed to be evening out, fine lines were somewhat less apparent. This is def something you have to give time to work it’s magic, but it is there! And it’s worth it in General just for the moisture even! Nothing even compares. It’s high in price, extremely. Broke me out

Let me preface that I am 42 y/o Black woman with acne prone skin. I eat good, I drink a lot of water, no soda or coffee or juice whatsoever unless its OJ or cranberry juice, I take supplements as well to keep my acne at bay and just in general for optimum health. I have purchased several of their products over the last 3 years; CE Ferulic, B5 Serum , Hyaluronic Serum, SunScreen, face cleanser, scar gel, clay mask and of course the Triple Lipid restore. I have purchased initially from the Derm Store, then I made purchases on SC and Bluemercury.I have used the triple lipid restore since March 2020 and purchased from the Derm store right when the pandemic started. I was using the Triple Restore & CE faithfully with the other serums. I would use the HA with the Triple restore at night and the B5 during the day over the CE and TRiple restore. My skin was clear and glowing, I would have little breakouts here and there but I loved how my skin looked. I cannot attribute all of this to SC as I know the supplements I take help tremendously internally.Move it along to September 2021, I ran out of the TL and decided to try Lamer moisturizer. My skin started breaking out almost immediately. I was visiting DC at the time so I was able to return the Lmer to Bluemercury and get the Triple Restore. I waited several days and used my skin calming products for acne before adding the Triple restore. I was back home and started my normal routine again. I did not start breaking out right away but slowly I will would have outbreaks sporadically but then they became more frequent. I did not think for a second it was the CE or TS because again I wa using these products with n issues for over a year. At this point I did not know what was causing the outbreak but assume it could be the vitamin C as I know people have more outbreaks from it. I stopped the both products for a week and half and decided to start with just the Triple restore, making sure to use just enough and not too much. Like clockwork my skin broke out in whiteheads, under the skin cystic acne, my forehead which never break out would always have a cluster of little bumps. I am at a lost here because I do not know if I received a bad batch, did the formula change? I honestly loved how this product made my skin look and feel so this is very unfortunate for me.

Great Everyday Moisturizer

I have very dry skin that becomes miserable in the winter. This rich face cream is great for daytime for me. I love how it is easily absorbed and leaves a silky (but never greasy) finish. The balance of ceramides and cholesterol feels spot on. My only gripe is that it contains essential oils, which can be irritating to sensitive skin. I also usually prefer unscented products, but the essential oil scent in this cream dissipates fairly quickly. Sente Ultra Nourish is unscented, but slightly less moisturizing than this Skinceuticals one. Epionce Intensive Nourishing Cream is the richest of the three (I use it at night), but it also contains essential oils. I love all three, and will definitely repurchase Triple Lipid Restore.

Luxury Moisturizer

Truly this moisturizer is pure luxury - so hydrating and so thick. During the winter it saves my skin and gives me the hydration I crave. A few call outs for new users: (1) use less; it's thicker than your average moisturizer so start with less than you are used to. (2) wouldn't recommend for 2x a day as it can be too much lipid action for sensitive or acne prone skin; I use only at night for winter/fall. (3) reduce for the summer/spring; I was getting small buildup bumps and my esthetician thinks it was too much lipid action during the summer/spring weather. I have repurchased 10+ times. My skin type - early 30s; acne prone. Prefers a dewy natural glow. Considers myself very into skincare. Sees a derm 2x a year and an esthetician every other month. I'm grateful that SkinCeuticals considered me to test and review their Triple Lipid Restore, after sending me a mini tester! WOW is all I can say! After thoroughly washing my skin, (the night of when I received this product via mail,) I applied just a dime sized portion of this product to my skin, and INSTANTLY was pleasantly surprised! Not only does it have a great fragrance, and immediately smoothing and moisturizing effect, but it actually seemed to blur out my skin imperfections, (such as make my pores look smaller, and my scars almost unnoticeable!) I tried a sample of this moisturizer and loved it! It made a wonderful primer under makeup. I went all in and ordered the full size and, sadly, it’s not working out. It has a bizarre texture that I find is a bit difficult to spread- there’s a waxiness to it that requires me to use more product than I’d like to to cover my face (this is not a “a little goes a long way” product). Still, I enjoyed the way it made my skin look…until it started breaking me out. Ultimately, this just isn’t the right product for me and I do think there are less expensive moisturizers that can offer similar results.Although it’s completely different in every way, I highly recommend the La Roche Posay cicaplast balm if you’re looking for a product to help with barrier repair, or to pair ... MoreI tried a sample of this moisturizer and loved it! I received a sample of this when purchasing the Skinceuticals vitamin C serum and decided to try it. It was a bit thick but then it smoothed out on my face and my skin just soaked it up. I bought the full size and I absolutely love how my skin looks when using it and also how it feels when I apply it. I was reticent as I still have some acne in my 40’s and I wasn’t sure if it would play nicely with Tretinoin; but it seems to actually boost my skin’s radiance and moisture, plumps it up and smoothes it out. I get compliments on my skin when I use this moisturizer. It doesn’t clog pores, it doesn’t leave a greasy feel and it doesn’t “sit” on top of the skin. It is like smoothing silk over your skin.
